Guys, The Office is still my favorite. Andy is still my favorite. James Spader still freakishly oozes sexiness. Oooooooh my god, you guys. You guys, you guys. spoilers )

While The Office will always be my comfort food, Community is the one that gets me excited. I downloaded it the second I got home from work and pretty much spazzed out from the second I hit the "play" button. JEFF'S DAYDREAM, OMG. That scene proved that my Jeff/Annie feelings are still alive and kicking. CHAAAAAAAAAANG. Abed's reaction to Cougar Town not coming back till January was the exact reaction I had when ABC did that to Ugly Betty (only I think that was a mid-season delay, like it didn't come back from winter hiatus, which meant they shortened the season and I was sure that they were going to cancel it, and then... they did). Cougarton Abbey! The show's general interpretation of British TV amused me greatly. Troy and Abed's announcement! Jeff realizing that he's madly in love with the study group! Pierce being decent! The Dean having a tremendous amount of interactions full of double entendres! Jeff going crazy! Oh, this show, I've missed it so freaking much. And the little Jeff/Annie bones that the show is throwing at us are most appreciated. Hopefully there will be more in the same fashion.

Parks and Rec was also delightful, especially since the show finally gave us some Ron/Leslie that I have been missing so damn much. Ever since Ben came into the picture, the show has been all about Leslie/Ben, which meant much less Leslie/Ron, which depressed me. I think I'm the only person in the universe who kind of hated season 3. And while I'm not fond of Ben/Leslie, I don't hate them either, it's just... I miss the central focus of the show being the Leslie/Ron friendship. Or, well, I guess that wasn't the central focus, but a lot of Leslie's big moments of revelation in season 2 came from her scenes with Ron, and a lot of the touching scenes came from her moments with Ron, and basically I want them in every scene together because they are the best. I miss them and their perfectness. Basically, Leslie/Ben = zzzzzzz, Ron/Leslie = :DDDDD, so, I enjoyed this ep. But yeah, the love that I had for this show during season 2 is a distant memory, which is quite sad.

Community - Blah. It was kind of boring, to be honest. You know what's weird? Annie and Pierce are my favorite characters, and this ep was centered around them both, and yet I just didn't enjoy it very much. It had its moments, but for the most part I kept zoning out. The highlights for me were the Chang scenes and Jeff trying to correct his sexting snafu (and his non-conversation with Abed. That Abed, he's so judgmental!).

The Office - This one was quite adorable. Anytime that Andy gets ample screentime, I am pretty happy. I am so easy. So, so easy. Like, I don't even quite remember anything great about this episode except for Kevin being charming, but man did it make me smile. ANDY!!! HE IS SO ADORABLE! And this ep made me remember how freaking hard I used to ship Andy/Kelly. DID YOU SEE HOW IMPRESSED HE WAS? DID YOU SEE? Also, I loved Michael's pep speech to him at the end. It is so very lovely when the show reminds us that Michael is sometimes a great boss/mentor. Oh! Oh! The cold open! MICHAEL SCOTT AND DAVID BRENT LOVING UP ON EACH OTHER. It was quite beautiful, really. And Gabe! Gaaaaaaaabe! Gabe. Your love of pretentious/annoying films is totally going to make you lose your lady love. And, okay, Gabe, dude, WALL-E is equally as pretentious/annoying as those other films, so you would have totally loved it. Ugh, I hate that movie. Shrek 2, however, is awesome. BUT PLEASE, DEAR GOD SHOW, PLEASE DO NOT REVIVE ANDY/ERIN. YOU WERE FINALLY GETTING OVER THAT BORING MESS. AUGH, DO NOT GO THERE AGAIN. But clearly the show was trying to turn us off of Gabe/Erin by showing how he takes advantage of her poor Scrabbling skills, but... DIDN'T WORK. THEY ARE STILL MY FAVORITE. Oh, but surely Andy and Erin are ~soulmates because of their compatibility in movie choices. You know it! *gag* I'm sorry, I really do go on about this in every post, don't I?

Parks and Rec - Cuuuuuuuute! Oh, Rob Lowe, I love you, please marry me. Have I mentioned how dreamy Rob Lowe is? Yes? No? Yes? ROB LOWE IS REALLY, REALLY DREAMY. And Ann's dorkiness around him just endeared her to me more than ever. In fact, this whole episode was great for Ann. I don't think I've ever really appreciated her until this episode. Also, RON AND ANDY. ♥ I... still am not on board with Leslie/Ben, or Ben in general. I don't know, I don't know. Everyone keeps talking about what a great foil he is for Leslie, but I'm not feeling it. Like, at all. I think Ben just has to come into his own as a character for me to dig him, I guess. He's kind of like early Ann in the sense that he's the straight man without a whole lot of personality of his own yet. That talking head after Leslie's speech? I feel like that was a typical Ron line (when he's being sweet) and it just didn't seem right coming out of Ben's mouth. Bah, I hate that I am having issues with Ben. It reminds me of my issues with Brandanowitz, only I don't loathe Ben like I did season 1 Brandanowitz.

30 Rock - SO FREAKING HILARIOUS, OMG. It has been a long damn time since I've downloaded an ep of 30 Rock for rewatch, but I had to for this one. HAD TO. The Tracy/Liz stuff was amazing. ROBERT FUCKING DENIRO. WITH A BRITISH ACCENT. Random return of Dennis!!! Jack's very girly pronunciation of "Hello" that never fails to crack me up! OPERATION RIGHTEOUS COWBOY LIGHTNING! Dramatic music and significant looks! Oh, I loved it. Love love loved it. Even if I wasn't quite sure what the show was making fun of when Liz went on her rant about music manipulating people into feeling emotions to a half-assed resolution. I assumed they were bagging on Lost, but I wasn't sure. Maybe it was just everything, because a lot of shows do that nowadays. I don't know, but now I really, really want to make a multi-fandom fanvid set to that song with ~significant looks~ that aren't in any way romantic. I even kind of started one! But, the project requires too much commitment, and I am beat, so, I don't think I'll ever finish it beyond, like, 30 seconds, but we'll see.

VAMPIRE DIARIES, HOLY CRAP.

HOLY CRAP!

Spoilers )

Also, with all the werewolf/vampire forbidden love vibes going on in this ep, I can't help but be reminded of the Filipino soap opera Imortal. AHAHAHA, I AM SO LAME, AS IS THAT SHOW, but it's what I keep thinking about whenever Vampire Diaries eludes to the oncoming battle between the vampires and the werewolves.
firthgal: (andy - cry)
- COMMUNITY! This show is shaping up to be so much better than my initial judgment of it. And do you know why? Because it is properly using its ensemble and making Jeff less douchey (or, more of a lovable douche, I guess). I think this is the first ep where I loved each and every character a ridiculous amount. Especially Annie. And... I think I ship Annie/Senor Chang? Oh god, they are hot in a creepy sort of way. Mind you, I also loved Annie/English Professor Dude and Annie/Abed, and even Annie/Troy a little bit, so I suppose I ship her with just about everyone. But Annie/Senor Chang is my OTP as of this moment. Also, Jeff and Shirley make the greatest BFFs ever. And Jeff/Britta did not annoy the crap out of me during this episode! And I loved the hippie dude with the little nipples! So, yeah, I dug it. Definitely the best episode this season.

- PARKS AND REC! Once again, hilarious. I sort of can't get over how consistently hilarious this show has been this season. And I really can't get over how much I love Leslie/Dave. THEY ARE SO CUTESY, AND YET THEY MAKE ME GIGGLE LIKE A SCHOOLGIRL! I love them. And I continue to sort of ship Ron/April (but not really, because my heart still belongs to Leslie/Ron, but, you know, Ron and April make me laugh).

- THE FREAKING OFFICE! Ooooooh, I loved it. I got a little tired towards the end as I usually do when this show is an hour long, but for the most part it was highly enjoyable. I think I was expecting more from it since it was supposed to be such an epic episode, but I guess it was epic for the Jim/Pam shippers, so the show covered that part of it (I was wrong, by the way, didn't cry at all. I did, however, cry at the promo that they kept showing before the episode, so I don't know if that counts or not).

Spoilers )

- It's Always Sunny was kind of terrible tonight. I don't know what's up with this show. It used to make me laugh harder than anything. Now I just tend to shake my head at it. BUMMER. Although, the salting thing cracked me up pretty hard, so... at least there was that.

I knew there was a reason why I don't like to submit a post just before dinner. I didn't actually proof read my last entry till just now, and one stinking little coding error screwed up an entire section of my meme and I didn't even know, and I just spent the last 15 minutes deleting every other word and equal signs because for some freaky reason it had done something freaky, so after all that hard work, I HAD to make sure everyone sees it. I just had to:

5. Kandy

Oh yeah. Kelly/Andy from The Office, dubbed "Kandy" by the fandom (namely [livejournal.com profile] dollsome), because they are super sweet and enthusiastic and perky and they both would dig having their names smooshed together like that, because they are both still high schoolers at heart (well, perhaps Andy is stuck in college rather than high school, but they're both pretty dramatic). They are just so perfect for each other in every way, and up until Cafe Disco, they barely had any interaction at all. This was basically a fanon ship that happened in the summer of 2007, someone (I forget who, maybe [livejournal.com profile] mozart_fic?) wrote an angsty Andy/Kelly fic and it was wonderful, but the ship didn't catch my attention until I read Accidental Harmony by [livejournal.com profile] dollsome and it was hilarious and completely in character and the single greatest thing that I have ever read in my life. It rocked my world, and it gave me an OTP that could plausibly become canon, because DEAR GOD, THEY ARE SOULMATES! SOULMATES!!! Dollsome basically started a Kandy revolution, and I was so on board. But unfortunately, it ended up just being a fad, which is sad, because those fics were rad. Quite a large chunk of fandom had ended up trying their hand at Kandy because they are just so darn fun to write, and a good number of us had rallied the jammers into supporting Kandy, but then season 4 came along and threw us for a loop with the whole Andy/Angela thing and we all gave up on Kandy, because they shared a total of ZERO scenes in the entire season. *sigh* And then season 5 brought us Oscar/Andy subtext and numerous hints that Andy is actually gay and just doesn't realize it, so... yeah, this ship has been abandoned by many. *sniff* I am so very torn between Kelly/Andy and Oscar/Andy, but at this point I am so convinced that Andy is gay that all I can really see happening between him and Kelly is that they'll become BFFs and Kelly will finally have a gay best friend that she will treasure like he's a Hello Kitty handbag.

There. I feel better now. Here, have some random ASH too:

Ah, see? Now my post wasn't completely pointless.

ETA: And my yearning for Uther/Gwen fic is increased. I WAS SWOONING! THEY ARE SO ADORABLE! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Fact: The more I replay The Hangover in my head, the more I fall in love with the movie. I think I need to see it again and re-evaluate my original judgment of the film.

Anyway, 7 interests meme! Again! Because I am insane. And I feel sluggish from lady pains, so naturally a meme is the only course of action here. Instead of, you know, going walking/jogging or something. Because I have lady pains. IT'S A VALID REASON FOR BEING LAZY, OKAY?

Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along.

[livejournal.com profile] _kataomoi_ gave me:

1. ade edmondson
2. quarterlife
3. kandy
4. rik mayall
5. sam seaborn
6. the comic strip presents
7. the young ones, tony/pepper

Okay, not sure if you meant to put Tony/Pepper on that last one there, but I'll talk about them anyway and just combine The Young Ones with Rik and Ade.

I so love talking about 80s alternative British comedy. Oh, how I would have loved being a British teenager in the 80s! )

Whew! That's all, folks.

ANDY/KELLY ANDY/KELLY ANDY/KELLY!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!! YOU GUYS! IT IS LOVE! DON'T EVEN TRY TO TELL ME DIFFERENTLY! This episode just proved that they are meant for each other. But Oscar! What about Oscar? ARGH! HOW DARE THIS SHOW REAWAKEN THE ANDY/KELLY SHIPPER IN ME?! Seriously, dudes. Why didn't this episode happen last year? KELLY/ANDY! THEY ACTUALLY SHARED SOME SCREENTIME! AND IT WAS EPIC! KANDY!!!! They pretty much melted my brain, so uh... not much to say other than the cast is obviously super duper lovable because only they could inspire so much fun in an episode that is purely a dance party. Well, the first half had some heavy stuff regarding Michael/Dwight and Phyllis/Bob Vance Vance Refrigeration, but... let's not spoil the absolute glee of the epic dance party. Also, Dwight was sexy. Also, I find it weird yet satisfying that Phyllis brings out Dwight's sweetest moments. OMG, I LOVE THEM! AAAAAH, THIS EPISODE! SO, SO WONDERFUL! ANDY/KELLY!!!!!!!!!! Very minor spoiler )

EDIT: After watching the webisode, I am totally back on the Andy/Oscar train. HOLY CRAP! AAAAAAH, I LOVE THIS SHOW!

Parks and Rec was also pretty dang hilarious. HOW ARE PEOPLE NOT FINDING THIS SHOW FUNNY? I was laughing my ass off. Also, I feel dirty for saying this, but... I think I maybe like Mark a little bit now? Only a little. And I think I was maybe really shipping him and Ann tonight? Which is just wrong, because this ep was all about Leslie/Ann, and I love Andy to death and do not want his heart to get broken, but... well... the show managed to stir my interest there for a minute. I think I am more interested in them for the impact that it would have on Leslie/Ann, if I'm honest. Also, it seems like Ron had a thing for Leslie's mom. Possibly. Which is just wrong. He's supposed to fall in love with Leslie! There can't be any creepy thing between him and her mom! NOOOOO. Don't go breaking my heart, Parks and Rec. That would be almost as devastating as Giles sleeping with Buffy's mom.

30 Rock was also hilarious. Best part? Kenneth. Oooooh, Kenneth. Also, there was much Jack/Liz BFF adorableness. And Tracy! &hearts

So, yeah, NBC rocked tonight.

HOLY CRAP!

Great manip, or greatest manip? OH GOD! Bwahahaha. I love it. Giles is a total dog. Also, this next one is actually good:

Dang man, if I didn't know any better, I could seriously be fooled into thinking that that's an actual pic. So, while most Giles manips are full of lolz, this one actually makes me melty. How I wish it were real. Although... they'd be awkwardly bonking noses and Buffy is looking at him like, "Seriously?" and Giles is all "OMGOMGOMG!" Hee. Methinks I'm going to end up reading fanfic tonight instead of doing something productive.

Also, this secret made me laugh, because it's so very true. The show does appear at first to be the epitome of mediocre, and the fans do at first appear insane (including me), and yet the more you watch the show, the more it sucks you in until you find yourself obsessing over stupid things like the exact quantity of beets that Dwight grows in one year and you're like, "Wait... WTF? What am I saying?" and eventually you succumb to the utter awesomeness that is The Office and start thinking up crazy scenarios to put the characters in. Also, I love this secret for naming two of my top ships for the show instead of saying anything about Jim/Pam. GOOD ON YOU, SECRET MAKER! I seriously wonder who they decided on for Andy, by the way, because I myself flip back and forth on the issue, especially in the superbowl ep (particularly when Kelly gets up and dances, but Oscar is there being all buddyish with Andy and I CANNOT DECIDE! I think I gave up on Andy/Kelly so long ago that I wouldn't be heartbroken if they never got together, whereas I would be DEVASTATED if Andy and Oscar don't, so... I guess I choose Andy/Oscar).

Also, while watching Repo! today during lunch, I realized that I seriously love musical numbers where all the characters are totally pumping with vengeance/determination and they are all making their way to the same place and looking all badass while doing so, and their voices all come together at the end and all the emotion is running high, and just... gah, I love it. Of course, I'm talking about "At the Opera Tonight." I LOVE that number. And my favorite part of the musical ep of Buffy is "Walk Through the Fire." That scene is a freaking masterpiece. And, since I'm talking about it, obviously I need to bring you the examples:

Now this is a musical done right. )

I'm sure there are more examples of this in non-ASH related musicals, but my brain is failing to think of them at the moment.

1. [livejournal.com profile] llivla is a total goddess for making me not mad at Season 7 Giles. Or, well, she made me understand his actions and realize that if I look at the bigger picture, Giles felt just as betrayed and lonely and hurt as Buffy did, but he sucks at communicating, as does Buffy, hence why they have a tendency to hurt each other so deeply. So, everyone read this comment, because it's brilliant, and it's making me look at season 7 in a whole new light. Also, since it seems like I only have anger for Giles, let me just say that Buffy was being an idiot too, because 1) she refused to listen to Giles at every turn and pretty much blew him off because she thought she knew better, and 2) she was so determined to defy Giles after he tried to get rid of Spike that she wasn't thinking clearly and she led the girls into a bloodbath, so Buffy's ego is just as big as Giles' (bigger, actually). So, I was mad at both of them, but the show (for me) successfully portrayed Buffy's side and completely failed for Giles, so I better understood Buffy's reasons for being a butt than I did Giles' reasons.

2. Aside from the numerous phantom clips, this video is pure awesomeness (and slightly hilarious):

I love how they made Merlin/Arthur be the past Gaius/Uther. I just thought it was cleverly done. I'm not much of an Uther/Gaius shipper because, yes, not exactly aesthetically pleasing (sorry Gaius, I'm a tad too shallow here), and I find Morgana to be the emotional counterpart to Uther, but if Morgana wasn't there, I would probably be all over the Uther/Gaius subtext, and this vid shows all the reasons why. I love it.

3. If any of you all want to suggest more top 5s or voice posts, DO IT.

4. A shipper icon meme!!!

Pick your favorite icon for each of your ships, then fess up as to what you're doing on that boat in the first place.

I'm just going to do the icons that are currently in my icon bank, so not all of my ships will be represented. Heartbreaking, I know.

The ships! And their icons! )

The ships! And their icons! )

Do you see the modicum of innocence in my icon? HOW COULD ANYONE WANT TO HURT SOMETHING THAT PRECIOUS? HOW? Also, I have a major beef with Jim. I haven't wanted to kick his face in this hard since the cell phone incident.

Big huge freaking rant )

Okay, I've worn myself out there with my essay on Andy and Jim, so my 30 Rock assessment is going to be pitiful:

30 Rock was really, really funny. I love Alec Baldwin's hair. Colleen Donaghy is the greatest TV mom in existence. Grizz and Dot Com are so married. It looked like Alec Baldwin was wearing too much lipstick through half of the episode. Jack is totally in love with Liz. Jack has a serious Oedipus complex (I actually shuddered at a certain point, I think you all know which one). The ending kind of made me teary-eyed, and then it made me laugh like crazy. I love this show. And I love that it doesn't hurl bricks at my head every five seconds like a certain show that rhymes with The Office.

Part 1 here.

Whew.  I had no idea I've had so many ships.  Damn.  And now for the meme that grimorie and adlervan tagged me for:

1. List your top seven character ships
2. Put all of them in order of your love for them; 7 to 1, 1 being your main fixation.
3. Name the movie/show that they're in.
4. Supply photos for said people.
5. Tag seven people.

Refer to all the babbling above (and in previous post) for the pics/reasons why.  Keep in mind that my ranking changes with wherever my obsession takes me.
