Does this count as the happiness meme?

llivla is a total goddess for making me not mad at Season 7 Giles. Or, well, she made me understand his actions and realize that if I look at the bigger picture, Giles felt just as betrayed and lonely and hurt as Buffy did, but he sucks at communicating, as does Buffy, hence why they have a tendency to hurt each other so deeply. So, everyone read this comment, because it's brilliant, and it's making me look at season 7 in a whole new light. Also, since it seems like I only have anger for Giles, let me just say that Buffy was being an idiot too, because 1) she refused to listen to Giles at every turn and pretty much blew him off because she thought she knew better, and 2) she was so determined to defy Giles after he tried to get rid of Spike that she wasn't thinking clearly and she led the girls into a bloodbath, so Buffy's ego is just as big as Giles' (bigger, actually). So, I was mad at both of them, but the show (for me) successfully portrayed Buffy's side and completely failed for Giles, so I better understood Buffy's reasons for being a butt than I did Giles' reasons.
2. Aside from the numerous phantom clips, this video is pure awesomeness (and slightly hilarious):
I love how they made Merlin/Arthur be the past Gaius/Uther. I just thought it was cleverly done. I'm not much of an Uther/Gaius shipper because, yes, not exactly aesthetically pleasing (sorry Gaius, I'm a tad too shallow here), and I find Morgana to be the emotional counterpart to Uther, but if Morgana wasn't there, I would probably be all over the Uther/Gaius subtext, and this vid shows all the reasons why. I love it.

4. A shipper icon meme!!!
Pick your favorite icon for each of your ships, then fess up as to what you're doing on that boat in the first place.
I'm just going to do the icons that are currently in my icon bank, so not all of my ships will be represented. Heartbreaking, I know.

Alan/Denny, from Boston Legal. My most satisfying ship ever. How sad is it that this is the ONLY pairing of mine that actually got married? AND THEY ARE BOTH HETEROSEXUAL MEN! Ahahahaha. Strange thing is that after season 4, marriage is exactly where I expected them to head, AND THEY DID! OMG, BOSTON LEGAL I LOVE YOU! AND I MISS YOU DESPERATELY! Anyway, the show started out a little rocky, and to be honest, the only thing that kept me coming back besides James Spader's utter sexiness was the Alan/Denny relationship. They were instant soul mates, and even way back in season 1 Denny admitted to Alan that he made his life worth living. Alan kept Denny from getting lost in the insanity. He encouraged Denny's eccentricities, but he kept him grounded at the same time. And he came along right when Denny acknowledged to himself that he was slipping. He wasn't the lawyer that he once was, and his light was fading, but then Alan came and lifted him up and made him feel special again. Alan completed him in a way that no one else was ever able to, and he quickly became the most important person in his life. For Alan, Denny reminded him to enjoy life. Too often Alan got so caught up in his own self-loathing and wickedness that he forgot about the good parts of himself, and Denny was always there to love ALL of him, and Denny always brought out his best characteristics. Denny made him laugh, and he made him love, and for once in his life he opened up his heart to someone instead of closing it off and pushing the person away. And when Alan did push Denny away, Denny would just grab onto him and never let go. They rarely hurt each other because they almost always understood where the other was coming from. And when they did hurt each other they would quickly make up, because THEY CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT EACH OTHER FOR MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES! It was pretty hilarious. There was just so much love between these two, and they made me all squishy and happy and I love that they were so very different from each other and yet they felt like they shared the same heart, and they were better people because of each other. Neither one felt like they truly mattered until they met each other, and because they had each other, they knew they'd never have to be alone ever again. GAH, I LOVE THEM! I'm tearing up just thinking about them. Seriously, I have never felt so much love between two fictional people in my entire life. Heck, that kind of love is hard to find in real life, too.

Daniel/Betty, from Ugly Betty. This was pretty much instant love for me. The second Betty smacked into the window and Daniel asked if she was okay rather than laughed at her, I was like, "!!!!" And then she gave him that big old braces-filled smile while he was continuing on with the meeting and he got distracted and stopped and instantly smiled back (although he was kind of laughing, but so was I, so I can't judge him too harshly). It just shouted typical awesome rom-com (as opposed to stupid mushy ones) and I thought that Daniel/Betty was a sure thing, and that it would be ridiculously slow and meticulously built upon, and for the most part I was correct. Sadly I have NO CLUE if I was correct on the sure thing thing, because many people involved with the show are against them ever getting together. But these two complete each other, they make each other better people, they make each other feel like they matter. But at the same time, Daniel's insensitive and Betty's judgmental and they accidentally hurt each other quite a bit, but they also have the ability to make up pretty quickly, because like Alan and Denny, they really cannot live without each other for more than five minutes. At least, Daniel can't live without Betty. There came a point where just about everything Daniel did, he did it with Betty in the back of his mind. He usually has good intentions and he only wants to make Betty proud, but he often screws up along the way. Even way back when he fell for Sofia, he fell for her in a long term sense because everything he was attracted to reminded him of Betty (well, that and the fact that she was Salma Heyak), and he never once thought about long term relationships until Betty came into his life and told him that he deserved to have one. As for Betty, Daniel seems to be the only one that gets Betty to come out of her safety zone when she's being especially resistant/scared. He makes her feel important. He's there for her when she really needs him. But again, he's often an insensitive jerk and both he and Betty have miles to go before they could ever look at each other romantically, but I really do think the wheels have been set in motion for Daniel.

Merlin/Arthur, from Merlin. I just really love the moment in this icon. It was EPIC! Anyway, we have yet another case of opposites completing each other. They became better people because of each other. Merlin grounds Arthur and Arthur gives Merlin a purpose. There is genuine love and respect between these two, and they would follow each other to the ends of the earth, and they have repeatedly almost died for each other. They trust each other unwaveringly, and this is where they get a bit angsty, because Merlin has spent the whole show lying to Arthur about his magic but wanting so desperately to tell him, because he knows that the foundation of their relationship is complete trust, and after ep 10 Arthur kind of suspects that Merlin has been lying to him, but he forces Merlin to never speak of it, so there's now this gaping void between them whereas before they were inseparable. But they'd still die for each other, because this happens in just about every episode. &hearts

I COULDN'T PICK JUST ONE! Uther/Morgana, from Merlin. Why am I on this boat? Because it's freaking hot, that's why. And it has a deliciously forbidden air about it. And the UST is there in crazy spades, but hidden just enough that they can get away with it on a family show. And the show gives us plenty of satisfying subtext (seriously, To Kill a King was so freaking satisfying without anything actually being made canon). Anyway, again, opposites. They butt heads on just about every single issue. Morgana is the only person that treats Uther like an equal and gets away with it, and in fact, she's pretty much the only person that calls him out when he's being stupid and actually gets through to him (unfortunately his need to exude his power causes him to lash back at Morgana, so she doesn't always know the full power she holds over him). As much as they test each other, and as much as they loathe each other sometimes, there is always a certain love there and a need to be loved in return. Part of the reason why Morgana wanted to kill Uther was because she felt like he didn't love her. She felt like she didn't matter to him, and that hurt her more than anything he did to Gwen's father, so she was going to show him that he didn't matter to her either. Part of the reason why Uther sent Morgana to the dungeons was because her words hurt him and he felt like she didn't respect him, so he wanted to show her the same courtesy. They are just so very much "an eye for an eye" people, and they always have to outdo each other, and despite their differences, they are definitely made from the same mold. When Uther realized that Morgana felt like he didn't love her, he suddenly understood her actions (a little), and he made it a point to tell her how he feels about her, and in that instant Morgana realized that she no longer wanted to hurt him. All she wanted was his love and respect, and she wanted to matter to him. These are the same things that Uther wants from her. So it's all about the love for these two, despite their violent escapades. Also, the thought of Uther's love for Morgana being his ultimate downfall intrigues me. You know it'll happen. They both cause each other to do crazy things, so you know one will be the death of the other eventually.

Jack/Liz, from 30 Rock. They are kind of the het version of Alan/Denny, except they don't constantly proclaim their love and Liz didn't like Jack at first. Anyway, they just get each other like no one else does, and they only feel complete when in each other's company, only they don't realize this yet, or at least they don't yet acknowledge it. Again, we have opposites made from the same mold. Jack must be involved in every aspect of Liz's life, and although Liz resisted at first, she now welcomes him with open arms, and she's pretty much involved in all aspects of his life, but to a lesser extent (she doesn't really try the same way Jack does, mostly because she's used to their relationship being all about her). She is a mess without him, as he is without her. He appears to be madly in love with her (total speculation, but... whatever) and she appears to be completely clueless. They don't get overtly jealous of each other's romantic partners, but at the same time they kind of are. They both have this brief period of "Huh? Why him/her? OMG, what if it's serious? What will I do?" But if the romantic partner makes Jack or Liz happy, then they accept it. Plus, they both know that they both accidentally sabotage their romantic relationships. I think this is why a large faction of fandom is so staunchly against Jack and Liz getting together. Because their only relationships that last are their non-romantic ones, and if Jack and Liz get together, odds are that they'll fall apart. But you know what? It's already like they're married. And Liz wants a romantic relationship that's already 12 years in development and past the sex stage so that they can just sit on the couch and watch TV together, and... THIS IS HER AND JACK! I'm fairly certain that Jack would make her love sex, though.

Charlie/Mac, from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I... I don't even know. They're just so wonderful together. The show is full of gay moments, and the ones that make me squishy are between these two. It seems like most people go for Mac/Dennis instead, but I just can't separate Mac and Charlie. I just can't. They are in love and don't know it. And I just like Mac better when he's around Charlie.

Michael/Dwight, from The Office. Stupidly Loyal Assistant/Asshole Boss. I LOVE THIS DYNAMIC, AS I HAVE SAID BEFORE! Michael's greatest wish is to be loved. Dwight's main mission in life is to love Michael Scott. Michael can't stand Dwight. THE IRONY IS SO DELICIOUS! But in reality, Michael knows he needs Dwight, and he appreciates him in his own way. He takes advantage of Dwight to a ridiculous degree, and he manipulates Dwight's love by reciprocating only when it benefits him, but the love is there, Michael just does his best to resist it. And oddly, they are often each other's unexpected salvation. Dwight only gets genuine friendship moments from Michael when he stops trying so hard. Or when he leaves Michael and Michael realizes how alone he is without Dwight.

Lassiter/Juliet, from Psych. If I could emit rainbows and kittens, these two would make me do it. They are just so freaking adorable. Witty banter, opposites made from the same mold, awesome partners, randomly known hair fragrances, hand holding, awkward speed date of silence, Juliet getting jealous over Lassiter describing another woman in poetic phrases while he failed to notice Juliet's numerous hairdos over the past week that were obviously all for him, Lassiter having such a complete crush on Juliet that she's basically the boss despite the fact that he's her commanding officer, the way Juliet was more concerned about Lassiter's reaction to her sexiness than she was about Shawn's. WHY DID ALL OF THIS HAVE TO DISAPPEAR? WHY PSYCH? WHY? IT'S LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED!

Shawn/Gus, Psych. They are just complete soul mates and belong together forever. And they share many gay moments together. Shawn is always hitting on Gus, ALWAYS. And I'm fairly certain Shawn would marry him if he asked. They are sort of a young, less badass version of Alan/Denny. The love is always present and they both accept it without question. Life is more fun when they're around each other. If Shawn didn't have Gus, then what would be the point of living? And if Gus didn't have Shawn, he'd never let himself enjoy life.

Buffy/Giles, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Well... the sexual tension got me right away. Giles does this leaning thing, and when he does, it's just plain sexy, and he happened to do this to Buffy quite a bit in the beginning, and Buffy exudes sexual chemistry with just about anybody (as does Giles, if I'm honest). So, that and the fact that they had the best banter grabbed me. But as the show went on the Giles/Buffy relationship became the heart of the show. He understands her in ways that no one else can, and vice versa. Their relationship was built on complete trust, and once that's taken away, they fall apart. Giles lives for Buffy. He puts her before his love life, he eventually puts her before the Council, he puts her before the world, and he puts her before his own future. His feelings of self-worth and love are all shaped by his relationship with Buffy. When he's no longer needed by her, he has no clue what to do. He tries desperately to develop an identity separate from her, but it always goes back to her. It's always about Buffy. And for Buffy, the one person that she thought she could trust no matter what, the person she thought would love her no matter what, and the person who understood her better than anyone else in the world, was Giles. He made everything better. He gave her strength when no one else could. His love and trust meant so much to her, and whenever she thought it was gone, she was a complete mess. Same for Giles. I think the main reason why I love these two so much is because they fail so hard at communication skills. They hold back on their emotions when they should be embracing them and telling each other what's on their minds. If they had done this, there wouldn't have been so many misunderstandings and feelings of betrayal. In season 5 they got to a point where they both were emotionally open and actually communicating, and their bond was stronger than ever. But then it all fell apart later. Gah, there's just so much angst and naughty subtext and heartbreak and fluffiness and soul mateyness and hurt and forgiveness and codependency and gorgeousness. I love them. Oh, and I like this icon for them because too often it was Giles being emotionally distant and walking away from what they had.

Mary/Marshall, from In Plain Sight. My summer obsession. Man, I miss this show. It's been ages since I've watched it. Anyway, I loved these two from the moment I saw them and was convinced long before most everyone else that Marshall was madly in love with Mary. He's so fiercely loyal to her, and she's a total asshole to him. They are best friends, mostly because they don't have anyone else, but also because Marshall is the first person to stick around long enough to understand her. He gets where she's coming from and he loves everything about her. She's grumpy and self-centered, he's talkative and geekishly charming and selfless. They have the most adorable witty banter ever. He lives to annoy her and she finds that comforting somehow. Their relationship is the one easy thing in Mary's life and she's terrified of losing that. Marshall knows this, hence why he keeps his feelings to himself. His love for her is basically torture. She's right in front of him and he knows he can't have her, and he has to watch her making the most horrible romantic choices ever, and it kills him because he knows they could be awesome together, but he doesn't want to scare her away, which would happen if he were to ever voice his feelings. Mary sort of knows how he feels because she gets him just as much as he gets her, but she chooses to ignore it. Until he gets other lady friends, in which case she gets terribly possessive and wants him all to herself... but not romantically. This is why she tortures him so thoroughly. She somehow makes him feel guilty for actually having a life. They are dysfunctional and completely doomed, but I love them.

Andy/Oscar, from The Office. They are hilarious. They are adorable. Andy somehow elicits giggles and compassion out of Oscar rather than sarcasm and stuffiness. Oscar can make Andy's pain go away with a bro-hug. Oscar thinks Andy has eyes like Elijah Wood. Andy would give Oscar a blow-job if he was a junkie and Oscar was a drug dealer. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS TRUE LOVE! Also, they are often color-coordinated with their wardrobe. &hearts &hearts &hearts

Andy/Kelly, The Office. I miss this ship so much. So, so much. This is basically a fanfic ship, and it started for me with Accidental Harmony by
dollsome and escalated to a full-on obsession in the weeks that followed as The Office fandom suddenly got a burst of Kandy fic as the idea caught on. They are just SO PERFECT for each other. They both sing and they're both perky and they're both dramatic and they are both basically a couple of high school kids. She would appreciate his showy romantic gestures, and he would love her the way she deserves to be loved, and his dweebiness would totally grow on her and charm her like crazy and they'd actually experience real love for once. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN GLORIOUS! But I'm not complaining about the Andy/Oscar direction that the show took.
Whew! That was a lot of ships, and I even skipped some because this thing got entirely too long.

Whew! That was a lot of ships, and I even skipped some because this thing got entirely too long.
