firthgal: (andy - smile)

Guys, The Office is still my favorite. Andy is still my favorite. James Spader still freakishly oozes sexiness. Oooooooh my god, you guys. You guys, you guys. If you had asked me 5 seasons ago what would become of Andy, I would never have guessed "Oddly competent manager of Dundler Mifflin." Just... never in a million years did I realize that Andy would come so far. He started off as this tiny, recurring character that was quite ruthless and self-serving and got on most fans' nerves, and now he's Andy, risking his own neck in order to point out all the qualities that make his friends so special. And what's so beautiful about Andy is that you can read absolutely every emotion that he is feeling at the exact moment he feels it. His face, OMG, his face when he realized that he was in the loser group. His utter heartbreak at the knowledge that Robert California didn't approve of him. Andy is so desperate for approval and camaraderie, which is a lot like Michael, but what makes his attempt so different from Michael's is that Andy is so genuine in his need to please people. It's not about him so much as it's about making other people happy, whereas Michael was all about making himself happy. Andy just wants to succeed and feel like he belongs somewhere, and now that he's found his place in Dunder Mifflin, I think his journey will be figuring out that he doesn't have to try so hard at everything, that he accomplishes more when he's simply being himself than when he's trying to be what he thinks other people want him to be. This ep was definitely the first step in him breaking out of his chameleon habit, and it was AWESOME. OMG, you guys, if I had known that Ed Helms would become the new star of The Office, I wouldn't have angsted so much about Steve Carell leaving. But, you know, if this had happened back in 2007, my head probably would have exploded. I seriously would not have been able to contain all the glee that would have caused in me, so let's just be thankful that my Ed Helms obsession is no longer in full force. What's sad though is that my crush abated after he started getting famous. Psh.

Also, the planking scene proved to me that I still ship Andy/Kelly. Like, a lot. I was convinced that he was all uncomfortable because he could totally see her boobs. I'm hopeless.

Also, pregnant and hormonal Pam is the cutest thing ever. She's going to frame the list!!! ♥

Did I mention that Andy looked super spiffy in his new suit? Because he did. I looooooved it. Basically The Office is now all about Andy for me. Just like it's always been.

While The Office will always be my comfort food, Community is the one that gets me excited. I downloaded it the second I got home from work and pretty much spazzed out from the second I hit the "play" button. JEFF'S DAYDREAM, OMG. That scene proved that my Jeff/Annie feelings are still alive and kicking. CHAAAAAAAAAANG. Abed's reaction to Cougar Town not coming back till January was the exact reaction I had when ABC did that to Ugly Betty (only I think that was a mid-season delay, like it didn't come back from winter hiatus, which meant they shortened the season and I was sure that they were going to cancel it, and then... they did). Cougarton Abbey! The show's general interpretation of British TV amused me greatly. Troy and Abed's announcement! Jeff realizing that he's madly in love with the study group! Pierce being decent! The Dean having a tremendous amount of interactions full of double entendres! Jeff going crazy! Oh, this show, I've missed it so freaking much. And the little Jeff/Annie bones that the show is throwing at us are most appreciated. Hopefully there will be more in the same fashion.

Parks and Rec was also delightful, especially since the show finally gave us some Ron/Leslie that I have been missing so damn much. Ever since Ben came into the picture, the show has been all about Leslie/Ben, which meant much less Leslie/Ron, which depressed me. I think I'm the only person in the universe who kind of hated season 3. And while I'm not fond of Ben/Leslie, I don't hate them either, it's just... I miss the central focus of the show being the Leslie/Ron friendship. Or, well, I guess that wasn't the central focus, but a lot of Leslie's big moments of revelation in season 2 came from her scenes with Ron, and a lot of the touching scenes came from her moments with Ron, and basically I want them in every scene together because they are the best. I miss them and their perfectness. Basically, Leslie/Ben = zzzzzzz, Ron/Leslie = :DDDDD, so, I enjoyed this ep. But yeah, the love that I had for this show during season 2 is a distant memory, which is quite sad.

So much word.

I understand the appeal of Ben/Leslie and if Ron and Leslie were played by other actors then I would be totally all over Ben/Leslie but well ... Ron/Leslie does it for me. They have this loveliness that the other ship doesn't <3.

Amen! I'm glad to meet another Ron/Leslie shipper! This week's episode just brought back all the Ron/Leslie feelings that season 2 had brought me. How they're not the OTP of this show is beyond me.

It feels so strange to watch a show that you watch and not share a ship. I love Ben and Leslie. I love Ben. I want a Ben of my own and I never say ish like that. I enjoy Leslie/Ron as well, just not in a shipping sense.

The Office was probably the show I found funniest last night which is probably the first time I said that in a long time. James Spader is a great addition to the cast. They also managed to write him as smart as they indicated he was last season.

Andy was great last night.

Community wasn't as funny but I missed its ridiculous over-the-topness. Plus, I loved the song and dance and the shout out to Breaking Bad.

I agree about Leslie and Ron, but I did like the way the Ben/Leslie storyline was handled. I thought it would be dragged out for weeks with them trying to sneak around or her not telling him. Now we can move on.

Also, it bugged me at the end of last year that Leslie was getting into politics but the storyline was, "How will this affect her boyfriend?" So I'm glad that was dropped.

I enjoyed The Office too. I thought Andy was a surprising choice, but the show can make it work.

Okay, this reply is ridiculously late, but let me just say HELL TO THE YES. And then this week she basically drank poison for him, and him seeing her so messed up is what brought him out of the clutches of Tammy One. HOW ARE THEY NOT THE OTP?

I was all set to give up on The Office this year but then I read about Andy being amazing in this episode so I checked it out and was not disappointed in Andy's amazingness! Aww, the way he talked about all of his co-workers.

The Community premiere gave me hope for the season. I was absolutely enamoured with the "Cougarton Abbey" and "Inspector Spacetime" stuff.

LOL I won't comment on your season 3 feelings because mine are... the opposite, but I will agree that I LOVED the Leslie/Ron stuff in the premiere and I thought everything at the cabin in particular was perfection. I do love Leslie/Ben, but I also love Leslie/Everyone. I'm excited to see more Leslie/Ron, Leslie/Ann, and Leslie/Andy this season (YAY MORE LESLIE/ANDY THERE WAS LIKE NONE LAST SEASON). I just love all of the character combinations that come out of this show.
