It's official. My shows are out to break my heart this year.

True Blood. Damn it, show! Why am I so addicted to you? )

Basically, I am sad that I once again have to wait till next summer to get more of this crazy, crazy show.

My favorite review of Merlin so far:

Uther, to be fair, is not exactly in top form here either. I don’t get exactly why he was so verklempt about Morgana, since they hadn’t exactly left on the best of terms and he seemed to be saying he missed her beyond the confines of a father-daughter bond to the point where I raised my eyebrows and repeated this is a family show, this is a family show to myself a few hundred times.

Source

Uther/Morgana is totally a thing. Also, HOW ADORABLE ARE TONY AND KATIE?

I bought the first season of The Vampire Diaries on DVD yesterday. I haven't bought a set of TV DVDs in ages (because they are ridiculously expensive), but man, TVD is totally worth it. I plan on an epic rewatch in the near future (this time with deleted scenes!). And of course, once I buy something, it's like the floodgates open and I start buying everything. I went on Amazon and pre-ordered Community, and then I bought season 1 of Merlin, too. My bank account is totally giving me the cold shoulder now. Anyway, it is all the fault of this jerk:

Is it bad that my favorite part of that vid is Pearl gouging out Damon's eyes to the lyrics of "Can't read my, can't read my poker face"? Also, this video kills my soul (in a good way):

I am currently watching a K-drama called IRIS, and unlike all the others I've watched, this one is a suspense spy action thriller, and OH MY GOD, IT IS SO FREAKING GOOD. You can see the American influences, but I love how it manages to keep the epic storytelling that is common in K-dramas but not so much in American shows of the same kind. This show actually takes the time to flesh out the love story and the friendships, but at the same time, the action is ever present and totally kickass and EXCITING, and they get to show more blood than an American show would (unless it's on HBO), and the whole show has more of a cinematic feel than a TV show, and (so far) the plot is really intriguing. COLOR ME IMPRESSED. I was waffling about stepping outside of the rom-com genre, because, you know, I am terribly addicted to those and they are basically my guilty pleasure, but I think it was a good idea to watch something plot-based rather than romance-based (although I freaking love the romance in this show, too, but it's not the focus).

NEW MOOD THEME! Apparently I've missed Modern Family more than I realized.

ASDHASLFJKLLLDSFHGSDKJ TRUE BLOOD, HOLY CRAP. I can't get over how genuinely good this season has been. Tonight's ep? Freaking epic, man. Especially that ending. I think what is really making this season so much better than the first two for me is that the big villain is awesome. I couldn't freaking stand Maryanne, ugh, and Rene wasn't revealed to be the villain until the last two eps of season 1 (or something like that), so, Russel is just magnificent. He's snarky and flamboyant and charming and scary dangerous, but he also has a weak spot. The little bit of humanity left in him that allows him to love. I just, after the confusing monstrosity that was Maryanne, I am ecstatic that they've given us a vampire villain who is completely badass and insane. Speaking of insane...

spoilers )

In conclusion, awesome, awesome episode.

Oh, speaking of True Blood, I am almost positive that my mother is an Eric girl. Whenever we talk about True Blood, it's "Eric this" and "Eric that" and... well, I don't have the heart to tell her that my main interest in True Blood is Bill. I AM A BILL GIRL THROUGH AND THROUGH. But I love Eric, too.

Day 23 - A crazy love triangle/quadrilateral that worked out great?

I... don't know. I go through spells of enjoying the Bill/Sookie/Eric triangle on True Blood, but I love it more for the Bill/Eric tension than anything else. Is that weird? Probably. Also, I've just started watching Vampire Diaries, because about 70% of my f-list has fallen in love with this show and it's been on my to-watch list all summer, and I have to say that only three episodes in and I am completely intrigued by the Stefan/Elena/Damon triangle. I have a feeling that this triangle will be quite epic and soul-hurty and much more fascinating than Bill/Sookie/Eric could ever hope to be. And hey, you can even throw in Matt to make it a quadrilateral and I can honestly say, at this point, I enjoy each and every dynamic and character in that quadrilateral (though I will not be surprised if I come out OTPing Elena/Damon. Though my first shipping inklings were for Damon/Stefan, but uh... if they're actual brothers then I'll stay away from that. Maybe). Here, have a picture, BECAUSE THEY ARE QUITE BEAUTIFUL:

*dreamy sigh* I guess if you also count Katherine, then it's a really screwed up love pentagon of sorts.

Day 02 - Favorite male character

Honestly, I have this weird fondness for Pierce that really cannot be explained. He seems to be most people's least favorite, but man do I love this dude. He's offensive and lame and oblivious to the fact that he's a senior citizen, but he's also somehow sweet and endearing and surprisingly insightful, not to mention completely hilarious as a character. I mean, I do not condone his offensiveness, not at all, but he doesn't actually intend to offend people, it's just his way of saying things (and this kind of reminds me of my grandfather, actually, which might be why I seem to be more forgiving of Pierce than most people are). Anyway, what it all comes down to is that Pierce makes me laugh a whole heck of a lot, especially whenever he falls down. I believe that this scene properly encompasses all that Pierce is:

Well-meaning but kind of pathetic and gross yet somehow completely lovable. I don't know, dudes, I don't know. If this character wasn't played by Chevy Chase, then I'm not quite sure that Pierce would be as sympathetic as he is now. Someone posted a genderswap picspam on [livejournal.com profile] community_tv today and mentioned that if Pierce had been a female, she would have been a much more widely hated character, and it's sad but probably true. For some odd reason offensive things seem to be more shocking when coming from a female, I guess (though, you know, my great aunt was about 10 times more offensive than my granddad was, and yet everyone found her to be completely adorable, so there you go. Well, she hated my granddad, so, I suppose he didn't find her adorable, but it's just kind of funny that they didn't like each other seeing as how they were probably the most offensive people in our family).

HOLY CRAP!

firthgal: (true blood - bill)
So, I finally got around to watching the season 2 premiere of True Blood, and... HO MY GOD! This show will never fail to make me have that reaction after EVERY EPISODE. I love it. I can't help myself. I came to terms with my love for this crazy porny vampire show last season. Anyway, the premiere did not disappoint, and the final scene both horrified me and excited me. GOOD GOD, THAT WAS INSANE! Also, I am shocked at my continued love of Bill/Sookie. It is such a typical over-dramatic, written-in-the-stars romance where the girl is super annoying and the guy is broody to a frustrating degree, and yet... I dig them. I think it's because they get nekkid a lot. And because I am madly in love with Bill and I giggle at how much Sookie flusters him. And Sookie acting like her romance with a vampire is perfectly normal while Bill is all, "ARGH WOMAN! I'M A VAMPIRE!" and Sookie is all, "I KNOW, YOU IDIOT! NOW LET'S HAVE WILDLY HOT SEX!" and Bill is all, "OKAY!" and he has their clothes off in .05 seconds and he's all passionate and predatory and despite his claims of how Sookie makes him feel love again and despite how hard he tries to be human, I still think he's up to something. But he loves her! But he's up to something. But he loves her! How else could he put up with all of her insane expectations of him? But he's up to something. BUT HE LOVES HER! I don't know. That dude confuses me. But I continue to be madly in love with him, frustrating broodiness and all. Also, I could probably watch an entire series based solely around Bill and the 17-year-old girl he had to sire. They are AMAZING and hilarious and they need more scenes of them being hilariously amazing together. Don't be surprised if I end up shipping them...

As for my original OTP of the show, which was Sam/Tara, I uh... I don't even know what to do with those two anymore. I shipped them like whoa from the pilot episode, but now? They are a mess. An utter mess. Sam is still mooning over Sookie and Tara is off in lala land with her new man and that freaky lady. Whatever. Sam is still her soulmate, it's just that they both fail at holding onto something good for them, and so they purposely screw it up. ARGH!

Also, spoiler )

My only complaint? Jason didn't take his clothes off in this episode. WHAT THE HELL, MAN? WHAT THE FREAKING HELL? I feel cheated.

Come on, you knew it was coming. I'm fully embracing this show and saying OMG I FREAKING LOVE THIS SHOW I WANT TO HAVE ITS FREAKY VAMPIRE BABIES!!! Seriously. I wish they hadn't focused so much on the obscene sex and crappy effects in the beginning, because the show is so much better without it, but people don't know that because they abandoned the show before it got good. *sigh* This was another ep made of perfection (except for the pie scene. That damn scene lasted 5 minutes. It got me in the first minute, but after that I said, "Okay, let's move on." I feared that they would spend the last 15 minutes just showing Sookie eating pie and bawling her eyes out. Totally ruined the emotion in that scene for me because I was laughing at the ridiculous length of the damn thing, but other than that, awesome episode). Bill continues to be a sex god, Jason continues to flaunt his pretty body and do stupid stupid things, and Sam and Tara continue to make me squee like a madman. Especially tonight.

Speaking of Sam/Tara, I spent ages looking for some icons, and I found a total of one person who made any. Everyone else is doing Jason/Tara and Sam/Sookie. WHY MUST FANDOM ALWAYS FAIL ME? WHY? I'm finally shipping canon, damn it! Why must I always ship the obscure pairing with no fandom? This makes me sad. Very very sad. Especially since they are so splediferous and deserve so much love. They killed me tonight. KILLED ME! I honestly don't get why people would ever ship Sam/Sookie. It turns me off in so many ways. Sam's such a lunatic around Sookie, he scares me. And Sookie. Plus, you know, I'm madly in love with Bill, and Bill digs Sookie, and I just want him to be happy. And despite Bill/Sookie not being my OTP, I do love their intensity. I adore Sam too, but there is no way in hell that he and Sookie would ever be happy. He loves her too much and she doesn't love him enough. Think Soames/Irene from The Forsyte Saga (except Sam's not quite that socially inept, but his obsession level is pretty much the same, and he tries way too hard, which is what turns Sookie off of him). But he's so comfortable around Tara, totally himself, and he knows how to break through her argumentative facade, and she knows how to get him to not take himself so seriously. YOU GUYS! THEY ARE SO PERFECT! GAAAAAAAAAH! But damn Tara and her stupid love for Jason. ARGH! No, I'm loving it. Confused Sam is good. As is guilty Tara. And they both have to get over their obsessions with the Stackhouses and realize that they need each other, which won't happen for ages, which I'm happy about, because I dig that sort of thing.

Anyway, tonight's episode made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me squee, and it almost made me orgasm. For serious. The ending. That last scene. That moment that made me jump and left me a little breathless. OMG BILL PLEASE DO ME NOW! But leave your fangs at home.

Man. This show is such an anomaly. I usually can't stand vampire stuff. I guess because they treat it like racism instead of the supernatural, so that takes out the sci-fi element that tends to turn me off. I love this show, guys. I love it! I really am going to have to change my tag now. I'll give it another week. This ep and last week's will be pretty hard to top.

You know how I keep saying that True Blood is horribly craptastic and atrocious yet entertaining and I can't stop watching it? MY TORTURE FINALLY PAID OFF! Tonight's episode was FANTASTIC, and all the naysayers who were interested in this show and then ditched it after the pilot, you all should watch this episode as soon as possible. Everything FINALLY came together into a wonderfully written plot and it was charmingly funny and kickass and it even made me cry a little. You guys! TRUE BLOOD IS OFFICIALLY A GOOD SHOW! At least for tonight it is, anyway. There weren't many super cheesy effects, and the ones that were there were done super cheesy on purpose, and everything that's been happening this season finally hit a beautiful climax and it pretty much left me breathless, waiting for more. You know what made this episode so great? It was ALL about the character development. They dropped the sex and craziness and just focused on why Bill is who he is, and it was glorious. And there was some beautiful Jason/Tara/Sam/Sookie awkwardness. Tara was slightly jealous, Sam was slightly jealous... oh yes, this show is so going in the right direction. But Bill. Oooooooh Bill. BILL! I hurt for him so hard. And I was jealous of Sam/Sookie on Bill's behalf. Everything that Bill did in this episode was for SOOKIE, even though she basically said that she didn't want anything more to do with him. He's just trying SO hard to be the man he used to be, and she loves it when his old self shines through, and she's turned on by his danger, AND OH GOD SOOKIE WHY THE HELL ARE YOU TRYING TO LIKE SAM? BILL IS FREAKING HOT! AND YOU WANT TO DO HIM! YOU WILL NEVER WANT TO DO SAM! ARRRRRRRRGH! Anyway, tonight's episode was really really REALLY good. I will officially be crushed now if this show doesn't get renewed for a second season. I'm embracing my True Blood love, folks.

I LOVE TRUE BLOOD!

See that? My love is loud and proud. I'm admitting it. I finally like the show for more than the hot dudes. But the dudes? They're really really hot. Also, Lafeyette OWNED in this episode. Oh man. I love him so very much. And he got to kick ass during I Play Chicken With the Train, which is the greatest Cowboy Troy/Big and Rich collaboration in existence, and that alone made me giddy. Seriously, that song is just the right amount of cheese and kickassity for True Blood.

Anyway folks, watch episode 1x05, "Sparks Fly Out." It may not have the same "Wow, that was mind-blowing" effect if you haven't been watching the whole season, but... I don't know. Because I've been watching from the beginning. And waiting for something like this episode. So, check it out if you want to see True Blood at its best (and odds are, if you have HBO, you've probably watched bits and pieces of all the eps anyway since they're on so often, so you probably have a good idea of what the show is about). But, yeah, it was awesome. BILL COMPTON! SEXY! SEXY SEXY MAN!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

And have some Tighty Whities Jason and Cute Sam/Tara just for good measure )

You know, I'm going to have to change my tag for True Blood if it continues to actually be good.

I STILL CAN'T STOP WATCHING THIS SHOW! I mean, how can you not love a show that somehow makes a giant, eggplant-shaped penis completely plausible? And I still love my Sam/Tara like crazy, although... I think the ending implied that Sam's actually a bad, bad dude? I'm not sure. I get that he's the dog that follows Sookie around, but I'm not sure what they were going for with that ending where he rolled around in the dead girl's bed. Does that mean he's the killer? Or just that he missed her smell? I'M SO CONFUSED! ARRRRRGH! But Sookie/Bill continues to be ridiculously hot simply because Bill is so INTENSE that he makes me squirm (in a good way). And I finally get now why Tara is so in love with Jason, and if I wasn't so obsessed with Sam/Tara, I'd probably ship them like crazy. But I hold to my conviction that Sam and Tara are unsuspecting soulmates, especially since they both fiercely love the Stackhouses, which will only lead to heartbreak for both of them. But... yeah. I'll be perfectly honest. The main thing that keeps me going back is the hot hot men. WHY MUST I BE SO SHALLOW? I still think that this is a terrible show. But I can't look away. I just can't. And I actually enjoy it immensely, despite the atrocious storylines and horrible effects (seriously, speeding up the film and then slowing it down does not equal an impressive vampire maneuver. I am more impressed by Bill's ability to hypnotize a cop and make him pee his pants than I am by the fast forward button).

Desperate Housewives leaves many questions unanswered (like... what happened to Lynette's other kids?), but I adore what they've done with Gabby and Carlos. Susan's story made me sad. Bree's shocked me. Edie's annoyed me (like she always does, but... dude from Band of Brothers with really blond hair and striking eyes, yay!). But giving Gabby kids was the greatest move ever. I used to not like Gabby so much. Now she's probably my favorite. Also, I'm having much trouble believing that Brian from Queer as Folk is straight, especially since they keep showing the gay guys feasting their eyes on him every time he appears on the screen. Seriously. I'm waiting for him to do a dude.

Brothers & Sisters was lovely as always. It made me laugh, made me cry, made me wish I had a sister, same old same old. It always surprises me how much I love this show. It's not exactly appointment TV for me, but when I'm watching it, I'm completely enthralled, and I just love how it really makes you feel like you're part of their family because their love is portrayed in such a realistic way (over dramatic, of course, but the general idea of everybody fighting and everything going wrong but it's your family and you wouldn't have it any other way).

Do you know what scares me? I haven't mentioned Damian Lewis in about a week. That is highly unusual. So, I'm mentioning him now.

I bet you guys have missed that, haven't you? I have.

Okay, I'm going back to Jack and Liz now.

This just has to be noted very quickly. I WASN'T WRONG ABOUT THE SAM/TARA CHEMISTRY OMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!! GAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a genius. No one else anywhere (that I've seen) even mentioned the possibility of putting together Sam and Tara. And then this ep gave me a little somethin' somethin'. It will turn into more. IT WILL, OKAY? Even though they just got that one scene and didn't show any aftermath. BUT IT'LL HAPPEN! IT'S TRUE LOVE ALL THE WAY! The rest of the episode sucked. Literally. Hehehehe. Sorry, couldn't resist. Oh! Jason dancing around in tightie whities didn't suck. God, why am I watching this show? Seriously. Sam and Tara are too awesome to resist. I CALLED IT, BITCHES! FIRST EPISODE! There's more bonding going on between them than any of the other characters, despite their minimal scenes together. GAAAAAAAAAH THIS SHOW! ARGH! STOP MAKING ME ADDICTED TO YOU, SHOW! It's awful. But I love it. ARRRRGH!

I'm officially addicted to True Blood.  I DON'T WANT TO BE!  BUT I CAN'T STOP WATCHING!  I was actually excited about seeing tonight's episode.  And dudes, I find the show to be awful, BUT I CAN'T STOP WATCHING!  It's awful in the best possible way, apparently.  But tonight's ep was definitely better than the pilot, to the point where I can say that the show might turn out to be not so awful.  Still... vampires, overly done southern accents, every stereotypical character known to man, beyond cliche central romance, cheesy effects, makes me laugh where it shouldn't, and yet I LOVE IT!  I CAN'T STOP MYSELF!  ARRRRRGH!  I don't understand how I can be addicted to so many things that make me gag, but there you have it.  I blame the pretty, pretty men.  And Tara, because I adore her.  And oooooh how I adore Sam/Tara, but this is another completely obscure and unlikely ship of mine that nobody else even notices.  Woe is me.  Everyone's into Sookie/Bill, naturally, because it's the beyond cliche vampire romance, and yet I'm even into them because they are pure adorableness and Bill is ridiculously hot.  But they're not a couple that I could get invested in.  Sam/Tara?  YES PLEASE!  BRING IT ON!  Forget poopy Sookie/Sam and Tara/Jason.  Both of those ships = sucksville.  Although, Tara/Jason is somewhat intriguing, and they're both probably my favorite characters, but they have nowhere near the same chemistry as Sam/Tara.  Seriously, Sam and Tara have shared a total of 2 scenes together and I ship them like mad.  Sam is madly in love with Sookie Stackhouse, but she has absolutely zero interest in him romantically and tends to lead him on by accident.  Tara is madly in love with Jason Stackhouse, but he doesn't even notice she's alive and she's the one woman in town that he's never had any interest in sleeping with.  Do you see the parallels?  DO YOU SEE?  And they're both so unsure of themselves around the objects of their affection and they end up being lovesick pushovers, and then they share a scene together and it's freaking electric.  They banter, they surprise each other, they're themselves around each other, they bond over their need to protect Sookie, Tara makes Sam laugh and Sam makes Tara smile and he somehow keeps her anger from exploding, and THEY ARE JUST SO PERFECT!  GAH!  I can't be the only one who sees this, right?  Now I'm curious to see if there's anything between them in the books.  Anyway, I kind of want to start a community for them, but I'm afraid that I'd be the only person in the community for the entirety of the show.  But... but... THEY'RE PERFECT OMG!  I need more Sam/Tara scenes.  Oh, the end of this episode?  I laughed for a good five minutes at the utter awfulness of it.  Seriously, so over-dramatic.  BUT I LOVE IT!

In other news, I was watching this thing on IFC about sex in teen movies, and they showed a clip from this film called Coming Soon about girls who had never achieved an orgasm during sex and wanted to experience one, and they showed this young guy with long bangs over his eyes that looked all too familiar, but I couldn't place him.  And then they showed him again and he was making this charmingly strained face as he was pushing the girl down for a blow-job, and then it hit me.  "OMG, THAT'S JAMES RODAY!  AND HIS HAIR LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE SHAWN'S DID IN THE FLASHBACK TO THE 90s!  OMG!"  It was pretty hilarious.  I guess you had to be there.  But... I couldn't help but picture that scene as Shawn and Juliet, with Juliet making a face like, "He's not serious, right?" and Shawn trying to be charming yet he's impatient and it's all very awkward and so wrong because she's supposed to be with Lassiter, and Lassi wouldn't even think to do that to Juliet.  In fact, he'd happily be going down on her, mostly because he wants to hear her purr and it would give him SO much satisfaction to be the cause of said purr.  I speak the truth, people.

Oh, and after that I flipped over to Encore Action and caught the end of Street Fighter.  This used to be my favorite SNES game when I was little.  Seriously.  It was the most violent game we had, and 5-year-old me would be playing it like crazy, and if I lost, I would punch my brothers or throw the controller at them or pound on the floor or rip up a pillow, because that's how into it I got.  I scared my brothers, and they're both older than me.  Anyway, I had completely forgotten that the game had been made into a Jean Claude Van Damme movie, so I had to watch a little bit of it and relive the good times.  What's sad is that I recognized and remembered the names and countries of origin of every single character.  And I even disputed the fact that Guile defeated M. Bison with that spin kick of his while Bison was doing that electric flying thing, because NOTHING could deflect that except for a fireball thing or that boomerangish thing that Guile would throw, otherwise you had to duck or jump, which is why that move was so effective, and it happened fast, so it was hard to hit all the buttons for a fireball in time.  Anyway, Guile would have been electrocuted by doing that kick thing.  So... BOO MOVIE!  SO NOT AUTHENTIC!  M. Bison kicks ass.  Especially when played by Raul Julia.  But the dude they got to play Zangeif?  PERFECTION!  He looked and sounded just like him.  He even had the crazy-shaped chest hair patch.

Okay, I'm going to go back to watching random stuff on TV now.  Late night is always the best time for that.

ETA: This is why I love Ed Helms so much.  At first, I was angry at the writer of the article for not getting the character of Andy at all, but then I read this:

Helms describes Andy as “a yacht-clubby guy who’s a little douchey but still earnest. He’s sweeter than who I was on The Daily Show, and a little less aware of himself. That’s what I like about him."

Ooooooooh, how I love Ed Helms.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!  Also, that pic is gorgeous.

Snapdrive just deleted every single one of my files for no apparent reason. WHAT THE FREAK? I thought that they left the files up permanently? DAMN IT! My music, my pics, my zip files... ALL GONE! Totally messes up my old picspams. It's where I stored the nudey pics of Damian. *sigh* Bastards.

In other news, I can't stop watching True Blood, and the show is truly atrocious. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF? It's vampires and bad dialogue and horrible effects and everything that I hate BUT I CAN'T STOP WATCHING! ARRRRGH! This is my third time watching the pilot. Damn HBO and their brainwashing. I can't stop watching the pretty people. The vampire guy is HOT, and I really can't stop watching the hot Australian guy from Summerland, especially since he's completely nude through the whole first half of the ep. And I already ship Tara and Sam. Their one scene together was the only thing that I actually thought was good, and I fear that they are the sole reason that I will keep watching this craptastic show. I like Lafayette too though, he's hilarious. But Sookie's southern accent is still the most unconvincing thing in the world and I kind of want to strangle her, and that ending scene where Sookie gets beat up was HORRIBLE and RIDICULOUS and I can't stand the cinematography of this show AND I CAN'T STOP WATCHING! ARRRRRGH! Next I'll be reading that Twilight nonsense, you watch. PLEASE STOP ME! No, but seriously, Sam/Tara? It's love, they just don't know it yet.

As for Burn Notice, Sam Axe is pure hotness. OMG I MISSED HIM! Honestly, he gets hotter every ep. I don't even notice Jeffery Donovan anymore because I'm too busy drooling over Bruce Campbell. Oh, me. Oh! Michael/Larry has SO much potential. It's no Michael/Perry though. *sigh*

Also, RIGHTEOUS KILL COMES OUT TOMORROW OMG OMG OMG!!!! ROBERT FUCKING DENIRO! AL FUCKING PACINO! RIGHTEOUS FUCKING KILL! OMG OMG OMG! I hope it doesn't suck. I'm going to the first showing. ROBERT FUCKING DENIRO! OMG!
