ASDHASLFJKLLLDSFHGSDKJ TRUE BLOOD, HOLY CRAP. I can't get over how genuinely good this season has been. Tonight's ep? Freaking epic, man. Especially that ending. I think what is really making this season so much better than the first two for me is that the big villain is awesome. I couldn't freaking stand Maryanne, ugh, and Rene wasn't revealed to be the villain until the last two eps of season 1 (or something like that), so, Russel is just magnificent. He's snarky and flamboyant and charming and scary dangerous, but he also has a weak spot. The little bit of humanity left in him that allows him to love. I just, after the confusing monstrosity that was Maryanne, I am ecstatic that they've given us a vampire villain who is completely badass and insane. Speaking of insane...
FRANKLIN'S RETURN, HOLY MOTHER FREAKING CRAP. That was intense, and I love Tara so damn much for standing up to him. She was clearly scared out of her wits (the actress is so damn good at being quietly terrified), but she found it in her to tell him absolutely everything that she needed to in order to free herself. And guh, Franklin and his creepy, creepy creepiness! You could really feel his sorrow/pain mixed in with that psychotic edge to his voice. Dude was one messed up vampire. And I so freaking love that it was ultimately his bitchy cockiness that ended up getting him killed (for good). Yay for Jason conveniently popping out of nowhere with a shotgun full of wooden bullets! (psh, plausibility? Never this show's strong suit).
BILL AND SOOKIE. BLOODY SHOWER SEX THAT WAS BOTH GROSS AND SOMEHOW BEAUTIFUL. I don't know why these two own my heart. I just don't know.
ERIC AND PAM. VAMPIRE OTP FOREVER AND EVER.
The Jason/Crystal storyline is stupid. I keep hoping for it to get less stupid, but it hasn't. But alas, I am used to Jason's storylines being stupid, so, nothing new there, I guess.
SAM/TARA!!!1!1!!! My heart still beats for this ship, apparently. Or at least, it did until Tara saw Sam viciously beating up that dude and she looked completely terrified of him. I still have hope for these two, though. The show has suddenly started revisiting them for a reason, right? Right? Maybe? Either way, I've missed these two confiding in each other, and I love how much it felt like coming home to see them doing it again. They just... they're good for each other.
Lafayette and Jesus are beyond adorable. I love that Lafayette is the only person on the show who has truly had a healthy romantic relationship (so far. I keep waiting for something awful to happen between them, because, you know, this is True Blood. People are either psycho, bigoted, supernatural, or undead. If Jesus truly is a good guy, then you know he'll be dead by the end of the season. That's just the way it goes, unfortunately).
So, the lady that got locked in a room and was raped by her coworker for five and a half hours, was she the one girl that survived Rene's attack? It's been forever since I've seen season 1, so my memory is a bit fuzzy, but there was one girl who survived, right? Is it this girl? Or was that someone else? It just seems weird that she's getting involved with Arlene's baby, which makes me think there's a correlation there.
THE ENDING SCENE. BRILLIANT. BRILLIANT! "We will eat you, after we are done eating your CHILDREN! And now for the weather. Tiffany?"
In conclusion, awesome, awesome episode.
Oh, speaking of True Blood, I am almost positive that my mother is an Eric girl. Whenever we talk about True Blood, it's "Eric this" and "Eric that" and... well, I don't have the heart to tell her that my main interest in True Blood is Bill. I AM A BILL GIRL THROUGH AND THROUGH. But I love Eric, too.

Day 23 - A crazy love triangle/quadrilateral that worked out great?
I... don't know. I go through spells of enjoying the Bill/Sookie/Eric triangle on True Blood, but I love it more for the Bill/Eric tension than anything else. Is that weird? Probably. Also, I've just started watching Vampire Diaries, because about 70% of my f-list has fallen in love with this show and it's been on my to-watch list all summer, and I have to say that only three episodes in and I am completely intrigued by the Stefan/Elena/Damon triangle. I have a feeling that this triangle will be quite epic and soul-hurty and much more fascinating than Bill/Sookie/Eric could ever hope to be. And hey, you can even throw in Matt to make it a quadrilateral and I can honestly say, at this point, I enjoy each and every dynamic and character in that quadrilateral (though I will not be surprised if I come out OTPing Elena/Damon. Though my first shipping inklings were for Damon/Stefan, but uh... if they're actual brothers then I'll stay away from that. Maybe). Here, have a picture, BECAUSE THEY ARE QUITE BEAUTIFUL:

Day 02 - Favorite male character
Honestly, I have this weird fondness for Pierce that really cannot be explained. He seems to be most people's least favorite, but man do I love this dude. He's offensive and lame and oblivious to the fact that he's a senior citizen, but he's also somehow sweet and endearing and surprisingly insightful, not to mention completely hilarious as a character. I mean, I do not condone his offensiveness, not at all, but he doesn't actually intend to offend people, it's just his way of saying things (and this kind of reminds me of my grandfather, actually, which might be why I seem to be more forgiving of Pierce than most people are). Anyway, what it all comes down to is that Pierce makes me laugh a whole heck of a lot, especially whenever he falls down. I believe that this scene properly encompasses all that Pierce is:
Well-meaning but kind of pathetic and gross yet somehow completely lovable. I don't know, dudes, I don't know. If this character wasn't played by Chevy Chase, then I'm not quite sure that Pierce would be as sympathetic as he is now. Someone posted a genderswap picspam on
community_tv today and mentioned that if Pierce had been a female, she would have been a much more widely hated character, and it's sad but probably true. For some odd reason offensive things seem to be more shocking when coming from a female, I guess (though, you know, my great aunt was about 10 times more offensive than my granddad was, and yet everyone found her to be completely adorable, so there you go. Well, she hated my granddad, so, I suppose he didn't find her adorable, but it's just kind of funny that they didn't like each other seeing as how they were probably the most offensive people in our family).

Date: 2010-08-16 04:27 am (UTC)And I hear there was a Sam/Tara scene in tonight's TB. I might have to hunt down this ep. Is this the second this season?
(no subject)
Date: 2010-08-16 04:34 am (UTC)Pierce was spectacular in Beginner's Pottery (definitely my favorite thing about that ep). As much as I love Pierce, though, he's definitely a character who is better in small doses. But yeah, he's my favorite. Troy is a very close second.

Date: 2010-08-16 04:47 am (UTC)And there were not ZERO in S2. There was this awesome face licking moment during one of Maryanne's orgies that was so freakin' hot. UNF! But that's about it.
When was the other scene this season. Do you remember?

Date: 2010-08-16 05:05 am (UTC)Sadly, I don't remember which ep had the other Sam/Tara moment. I watched 4 eps all in a row last week, so they've all blended together in my head.
(no subject)
Date: 2010-08-16 05:44 am (UTC)Oh and yes Damon and Stefan are actual blood brothers. That doesn't stop them from having tons and tons of chemistry (I don't ship it, because I don't do incest shipping, but I can still see it).

Date: 2010-08-16 08:16 pm (UTC)Erm, sorry for the random shouting but these three guys made it for me with the last ep.
Sam is back where he belongs, with the people he belongs with, and boy does he have some anger management issues. I love it! Even though I can't stand Sam's brother, he sure manages to push all the right buttons with Sam. I'm not even gonna let my heart go for Sam/Tara bacause the show will break my heart. Since they're good for each other, they can't be together. That's the TV law. :|
I'm still in denial that they killed Franklin but considering he's a pile of bloody goo, it's safe to say he's a goner. *sniff* I had such high hopes he would turn Tara and then she would go eat her mother.
What? I have issues with Tara's mom. ;)Russell! OMG! I knew he was awesome but the "And now for the weather. Tiffany?" was utter brilliance. Also, only after Talbot was dead did I start to ship Russell/Talbot. I never realized how much Russell really loved Talbot (maybe he didn't either?) so to see him go insane from grief was strangely touching even though I was laughing at the same time. Denis O'Hare, you will be on my people-to-watch list!
(no subject)
Date: 2010-08-17 03:53 am (UTC)Ha, you know, I was enjoying Russell/Talbot, especially their bickering, but yeah, the show definitely makes you appreciate them after you see how psycho he went once he could feel that Talbot had been killed. I particularly loved the fact that Russell had Bill in his hands at the very moment that Eric killed Talbot, and the second Russell felt Talbot die, he dropped Bill and completely forgot about him and Sookie.

Date: 2010-08-18 01:38 am (UTC)Same here. And I have the same thing with Holly - I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop with both of those characters.
