Reply to this meme by yelling "Words!" and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.

[livejournal.com profile] otempora42 gave me: Dollhouse, ASH, Uther/Morgana, Buffy/Giles, and CAPSLOCK.

What is the meaning of this? )

Man, there is a gigantic bug flying around my room and I shudder every time I semi-attempt to capture it. I can't squash it, because that'll be a lot of bug guts. I can't grab it with a tissue, because then I'll feel it die in my hands. And the damn thing refuses to fly out of my room every time I open the door. Uuuuuuugh.

So, since people are leaving LiveJournal for Dreamwidth in droves, I decided I better snatch myself up an account, because unlike real life, I seem to completely cave to peer pressure when it comes to the internet. Because, you know, it's no fun conversing with myself. So here I am! I have imported my journal and set up crossposting and whatnot. I... like LiveJournal better. I HATE CHANGE, OKAY? IT MAKES ME TWITCH! Plus, I only have six userpics on Dreamwidth, while I have 107 on LiveJournal. Plus, my LiveJournal is prettier. But anyway, I am following this Dreamwidth fad, finally. We'll see if it lasts. I still refuse to Twitter though. Probably because I am not a text messaging person. Twitter is text messages, right? Or something. I've never really known what the heck that site is for. But our cell phone coverage does not include text messaging, so I am basically stuck in 1998 or something where the concept of texting someone instead of calling them is just bonkers. Or, really, really expensive. Honestly, I WOULD rather text than talk to people. But I've never been blessed with text messaging. Heck, it took me YEARS before I finally caved and bought a cell phone (that I never use).

Er... I have no idea how this post became about my cell phone history. Anyway, Dollhouse. It was pretty awesome. But... kind of anti-climactic? Or, well, it definitely had a climax, but the end just wasn't satisfying for me. At all. I don't know if it's because this was probably the last episode ever and that depressed me, or if it's because it actually wasn't satisfying. I guess I was just expecting more from Boyd and less from Paul. But, Paul surprised me in the end. In a good way. OH, PAUL/MELLIE NOVEMBER! WHY DO YOU PLAY WITH MY HEART LIKE THAT? Topher was AMAZING in this episode. So, so wonderful. I honestly cannot believe how much I despised him in the beginning, because he's probably my second favorite character now, has been since mid-series (or possibly as early as episode 3). But yeah, him and Saunders were so very wonderful and they totally stole the episode for me. I know it was supposed to be all about Echo and Alpha and their craziness, but... Topher owned me in this episode. Also, I loved what they did with the whole Alpha/Echo/Caroline thing, even if I felt dissatisfied with the ending. There was all kinds of religious symbolism going on in these last few eps and most of it was over my head, especially the Adam and Eve stuff which I just did not put together until long after last week's episode (seriously, I am embarrassed at my cluelessness when it comes to the Bible), but what I loved about this one was spoilers )

But anyway, the ep was awesome, just... lacking in Boyd/Echo, which makes me sad.

OH! Also, if anyone wants a Dreamwidth code, let me know. I think most of you all have signed up already though, but if you need one, let me know.

So, Dollhouse was... different. I feel like the preview from last week completely spoiled all the shocking reveals that we were supposed to get in this episode. I probably would have been more impressed had I missed that preview. Anyway, none of that matters. Why? Because my Boyd got to kick Paul's ass for like 10 minutes straight. Maybe more. IT WAS EPIC! OMG, I LOVED IT! This ep should have been 43 minutes of Boyd kicking Paul's ass. It would have made me even happier. Anyway:

Spoilers )

In other news, I suddenly find the TWoP negativity on the Ugly Betty boards to be completely hilarious. Not one single positive thing has been said about last night's episode, and I somehow feel justified. THANK YOU, YOU SNARKY PEOPLE THAT USED TO SCARE ME! Ugly Betty is shit without the Daniel/Betty loveliness. And the Betty character has been completely destroyed. Which is sad, because she used to be one of the very few female characters on television that I could relate to. When 100% of the posts on TWoP are all about how much they hate the main character, the writers are definitely doing something wrong. If it was only 85%, then I'd chalk it up to general TWoP negativity. But no, every single poster is talking about how much they now loathe Betty (and her ridiculous wardrobe). I'm sorry show, but you ruined yourself. Irrevocably. I have a feeling it won't survive an entire 4th season. I don't know. I can't even care at this point. *sigh* Stupid Silvio Horta destroying my stupid hopes for Daniel/Betty. And, I ship non-canon all the time, so I shouldn't be this angry, but I feel like I've been bamboozled. Stupid show. I hate you. (And yes, if I get this disappointed over a pointless TV show, you really don't want to see how disappointed I get over important things). They just... they were my #1 ship for 3 years. I was led on to believe that they would happen at the very end. I mean, heck, my parents watched the pilot way back in 2006 and my dad was like, "*groooooan* The boss is going to fall for her and they get together in the end. There you go, I know the whole story, now stop making me watch this crap." SEE?! Even my dad could see it from the very first episode! I'VE BEEN BAMBOOZLED, DAMMIT!

Sorry, I'll stop complaining about Ugly Betty one of these days. Hopefully.

Why, you ask? Because [livejournal.com profile] shantirosa wrote me Uther/Gwen fic, and it was COMPLETELY PLAUSIBLE! OMG! YOU GUYS! READ IT! IT IS PURE BRILLIANCE!

In a Lonely Place by [livejournal.com profile] shantirosa

Not only is it the Uther/Gwen I've been craving for months now, but she managed to make it all about Uther/Morgana and Gwen/Morgana, which was exactly what I've always dreamed of. GAAAAH, IT IS SO, SO BEAUTIFUL! READ IT! Best bit:

“Why did she betray me?”

“She thought she had no choice, sire.”

Softly: “Did she truly loathe me?”

“She loved you, sire.”

“But not enough.”

Carefully: “No, sire. Not enough.”

Oh god, I love it. So, so, so much. Read it, and tell her how wonderful she is, because she is. And then your life will be complete.

Also, I found a Buffy/VR.5 crossover the other night (that just happened to have the pairings of Buffy/Giles and Oliver/Syd). That... wasn't nearly as good, but you know what? I loved it anyway. I had been obsessing over VR.5 all weekend. I love that show. A lot. I... kind of maybe would even choose it over ASH being in Buffy if it meant I would have gotten more episodes. But then I would never have gotten Buffy/Giles (because you know no other actor they could have gotten would have brought the depth to that relationship that ASH did). But Syd/Oliver would have actually happened (Anthony Head said so, so I believe him). But Buffy/Giles is so messed up and angsty and glorious, whereas Oliver/Syd is a little less messed up and angsty, but kind of just as glorious, because, OMG, OLIVER IS SO FREAKING HOT. And he brings Syd out of her shell. And Syd makes Oliver human again. She makes him care! Without even trying. And they're so sweet with each other (once they got past the whole not trusting each other thing). Oooooh, how I wish the show could have at least gotten a full season. Also, yesterday [livejournal.com profile] adlervan pointed out that VR.5 is Dollhouse before there was a Dollhouse, and... dudes, she is so very right. Even when looking at how Fox is handling the show. For VR.5, they ordered 13 eps, only bought nine, and the creator gave them one episode for free because he didn't want to cut out more than three eps because it hindered the overall plot. The hype around VR.5 before it premiered was huge, but once it actually started it was too complex for casual viewing, so Fox just... didn't like it, and the ratings weren't good enough because that was back in the days of The X-Files, so, they canceled it after 10 eps, right when the plot hit its climax. For Dollhouse, there are 13 episodes, but Fox only bought 12. The hype around this show was humongous, but it's a show that isn't understandable if you miss an ep, therefore it doesn't work for casual viewers and will probably be canceled after episode 12. It's about computers tapping into the subconscious and erasing memories and whatnot. The Dollhouse is run by an organization who says they're helping people, but at the same time, the organization is incredibly shady and people (namely Adelle, just like Oliver in VR.5) are becoming disillusioned with the whole thing. No one really knows who they can trust. NO WONDER I FELL IN LOVE WITH VR.5! It's Dollhouse, only very 90s. And there are no dolls.

Did you know that reading every single Boyd/Topher fic in existence just before you go to bed for some reason causes you to have dreams about a Dwight/Andy/Oscar love triangle??? Well, I didn't either. It was pretty crazy. And, Oscar was in love with Dwight instead of Andy, and Dwight and Oscar had had a big fight and that's why Dwight was being so BFF with Andy. HE WAS TRYING TO MAKE OSCAR JEALOUS! And Oscar was wearing this shiny pink elegant shirt with white stripes and no tie and he looked totally sharp, but I'm kind of embarrassed that my mind automatically put him in shiny pink while Dwight and Andy looked like their usual selves. Anyway, Oscar was watching their antics through Dwight's window, because Dwight was having a party at his house and he had invited everyone but Oscar but Oscar didn't know this, he had just gone to Dwight's house to talk to him and noticed Andy and Dwight being disturbing together, and Oscar bursts through the door and gets embarrassed when he sees that everyone is there, and he's like, "You invited everyone? Even Roy?" and Roy waves and awkwardly says, "Hey..." And Dwight is looking all smug and he has his arm around Andy and Andy is oblivious as always and desperately trying to figure out what's going on and Oscar and Dwight start arguing and Oscar says, "What's your game, Dwight? What is this? Why are you with him?" Poor Andy is hurt by this statement. And Dwight gets in Oscar's face and he's like, "What's YOUR game?" I don't know, it was weird. WHY WAS IT OSCAR/DWIGHT? WHY? WHY COULDN'T IT BE OSCAR/ANDY? OR WHY COULDN'T DWIGHT ACTUALLY BE IN LOVE WITH ANDY? ARGH, MY BRAIN! It insisted on leaving Andy just as unloved as he is on the show. *sigh* But I'm pretty sure Oscar loves him on the show. The more I watch that last scene where Dwight and Andy are debating over whether every song ever is better in a capella, Oscar looks on with this forlorn expression and HE IS SO HOPELESSLY IN LOVE WITH ANDY! He's happy that Andy is finally being accepted by someone else in the office, but it is breaking his heart that Andy and Dwight are spending every single minute together and Oscar misses him and OBVIOUSLY there needs to be a post-ep fic about this. Is there one? Have I missed it with all my reading of Boyd/Topher and Buffy/Giles fics?

Also, waking up to these lovely Office spoiler pics on my f-list did nothing to quell my brain from believing that Andy is madly in love with Dwight:

Orange is totally Ed Helms' color. Good god is that man sexy )

OH, YOU GUYS! I'm not sure when it happened, but Andy is gay. There's just no other explanation. He has to be. I... actually balk now when I see people pairing him with ladies. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED! I used to be a diehard Kelly/Andy shipper! And an avid Karen/Andy reader! What happened? I don't know. For some reason I now find it completely unbelievable for him to actually be in love with a woman. But technically, Andy would probably fall in love with anyone, be it man or woman, who would love him back unconditionally. He just needs to be loved. I think he wants to fulfill the societal role that he believes he should, because that's what he does, that's what drives him, but... he usually fails miserably at trying to be things that he isn't. And, being with ladies is the main thing that he fails at. He just needs to embrace what will actually make him happy as opposed to what society tells him will make him happy. Oh, Andy. I hope you realize that someday. And hopefully you will realize that with Oscar. Or Dwight. Or Kelly (see? still a diehard shipper).

Anywho, Boyd/Topher. They rock my world. If Dollhouse could actually survive past season 1, I'm fairly certain that they'd become my #1 slash ship. They're just... they're so understated, yet their bond is undeniable. I love how Topher makes him smile and openly flirts with him, and I love how the simple presence of Boyd makes Topher calm down in any situation. He loves Boyd. So very much. And Tornado in a Teacup by [livejournal.com profile] morganize did a great job of capturing all of that. The beginning prose are a little confusing (or at least, they were for me) but once you get to the second section it is absolute perfection. The dialog is so spot on, and the author did such a great job of explaining Topher's feelings for him but never actually acknowledging that it's anything other than friendship except for a few brief moments where he analyzes his reaction to Boyd being so focused on Echo, and just... I love this author so much for 1) getting their banter down brilliantly, 2) not once neglecting Boyd's devotion to Echo, and 3) keeping Topher and Boyd's feelings for each other completely subtle and surprising to both of them when it culminates into this beautifully simplistic gesture at the end. I loved it! Oh, those two. I need this show to survive. It has to! I need to see Topher finally acknowledge his big gay love for big manly Boyd! Ooooh, I love Boyd. So very much.

DOLLHOUSE HAS JUST COMPLETELY BLOWN MY MIND! OH MY FREAKING GOD! AAAAAAAH! It... I just... I CAN'T EVEN THINK STRAIGHT! Was not expecting ANY OF THAT, and yet it all made perfect sense. Oh, my heart. My poor, poor heart. ADELLE WAS SO FREAKING BADASS, HOLY CRAP! That woman is awesome. Also, ECHO/BOYD! OOOOOOH, ECHO/BOYD! THAT LAST SCENE! GAH!

Highly spoilerific spazzing )

This ep will be hard to beat. I think it was my favorite so far. It's pretty damn hard to choose between this one and eps 6 and 7. They are all so completely different from each other. Man I love this show for not having a formula. It does whatever it damn well pleases week to week. And now I have to wait two weeks to see the next ep. NOT FAIR! DAMN YOU, PRISON BREAK! ARGH! THEY BROKE OUT OF PRISON IN SEASON 1! HOW CAN YOU STILL BE ON? I WANT MY DOLLHOUSE, DAMMIT!

Also, things that made me happy meme, day 5!

1. This song:

2. THE BEAUTIFUL WEATHER! I went walking again today. I'm actually getting back into the routine! Sort of.

3. Watching Dwight and Andy singing Country Roads over and over and over again. I will never tire of that scene. Also, I'm still convinced that Kelly Erin thought they were gay. Especially after rewatching the scene where Andy comes in in his hunting outfit and Dwight very flamboyantly tells him that he knows how to put an outfit together. Also, the tag scene makes me all giddy because I've convinced myself that Oscar is quietly pining for Andy in that scene and is totally jealous of Andy and Dwight's newfound BFFness.

4. This post "The Prom" B/G fic. I will never get tired of sappy "The Prom" fics, only this one isn't sappy, it's just plain beautiful. And, I'm not gonna lie, I kind of really love fics that are on the surface Buffy/Angel but at heart are really Buffy/Giles. They hit me in the gut double time. I don't know why my love of Buffy/Angel is growing, but it is. Probably because I feel like the only person who truly loved Buffy as selflessly as Giles did was probably Angel. Although, Angel had his moments of loving her pretty selfishly too, whereas Giles always, ALWAYS put Buffy first (except in season 7, but we will not get into that, because this is the happy meme).

So, I saw Watchmen, and... it was okay. From all the hype I was expecting something really profound, but, it was just another "humanity sucks and we are the reason why there is suffering" story. I mean, it was an interesting take on superheroes, but jeez louise I did not need a five minute sex scene between the most boring couple in existence. Yikes. Of course, I fell in instant love with Jon/Laurie and Rorschach/Dan, so perhaps I was a teensy bit biased, but seriously, Laurie/Dan was a complete snooze fest. Ugh. Rorschach was an awesome character, but I do not get all these fangirls being in love with him. He... was not sexy in any way. But I did feel for him. In fact, he reminded me a whole lot of Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver, especially in the beginning when he talks about washing the vermin from the streets. But, his intentions were very different from Travis's. Rorschach despised humanity, but at the same time, he wanted to preserve it. Travis Bickle just plain old hated humanity and wanted to matter for once in his life. Anywho, Rorschach was a great character, but the one that I fell in mad love with was Jon. I don't even know why. Because I saw his schlong? I don't know. He just... he had all this subtle depth that I adored, and that moment on Mars with Laurie where he explains how she made him care about humanity again, gah! Yeah, my soul, it was owned. Jon's story was definitely the one that moved me the most. I was expecting more from The Comedian since he seems to pop up almost as often as Rorschach in general Watchmen talk, but yech. I really didn't like him, but I got what he represented. I HATED that the original Miss Jupiter loved him despite the things he did to her, but again, I get what that represented. It wasn't trying to be misogynistic, it was just saying that most people accept humanity for what it is, the good and the bad, no matter how much it fucks us over. One thing I wasn't sure on though, spoiler ) Anyhow, I'm not a big fan of the whole slow-mo + graphic violence combination, so even the few fights there were didn't do much for me (and... kind of grossed me out. And this is coming from someone who loves John Woo's extremely bloody Chow Yun-Fat movies). It just wasn't my style. But I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It was fairly entertaining, but not amazing. In all honesty what grabbed me was the Laurie/Jon romance, and, dudes, I NEVER go for the romances in action movies. I go for the action. So, that's a strange thing for me. And the Rorschach/Dan friendship got me too, but that didn't really start until the last hour of the movie, and I am convinced that if they had cut most of the Laurie/Dan stuff I would have enjoyed the movie far more (and, it would have been much shorter. Two and a half hours is just too long).

Wow. I did not mean to go off on so many tangents. Especially the Dollhouse one. But, that show brings about a lot of tangents.

AAAAAAH, I LOVE THIS SHOW! SO FREAKING MUCH! I swear it just keeps getting better and better. VICTOR AND SIERRA!!! Also, Boyd was totally giving Topher the love eyes in this ep. THEY ARE SO IN LOVE, YOU GUYS! SO, SO IN LOVE! How am I the only person I know that ships those two? Their manlove is undeniable. NOVEMBER! OH, HOW TRAGIC THAT WOMAN IS! My heart will forever break for her. The Adelle/Echo showdown was EPIC. Also, Boyd is still making me swoon without even saying anything. Oooooh, this show. I love it. Whoever abandoned this show before ep 6 should really get back to it, because it's kickass awesome.

In other news, I've gotten through the first two series of Skins and found them to be absolutely brilliant and epic and amazing in every way and was totally wrapped up in every single episode, but then I got to series 3. I was expecting the cast change because I had read about it, and it makes sense story-wise since series 2 completes that stage in their lives. But... series 3 is like a completely different show. It's just nowhere near as good. It's way too over the top and lost a lot of its relatability and it's failing to keep my interest. It's just too ridiculous. I don't know what happened. I enjoyed the whimsical feeling of the first two series, but they also held enough reality and drama that I really fell in love with the characters, and both series had very clear plots from the get-go. This one is just so random and the characters aren't quite as lovable. Pandora, Thomas, and JJ I love, but everyone else is pretty much a snooze-fest. I liked Effie in the first two series, but only because her relationship with Tony was really touching, and the show beautifully delved into her battle of not wanting to care about people but not being able to help it, and it did it subtly, and we learned all we needed to know about her. Now she's just... boring. And Cook is so freaking annoying that I couldn't stand his episode. That's the first time an ep ever failed to make me care about the character it was focusing on. I think my main gripe about the series so far is the gangster character (played by Gareth from the British Office). Is that dude in everything? Because he played this really annoying villain in Demons too. He's just... annoying. In this one I think it's just that the character doesn't mesh well with the show and it's throwing it off. I don't know. It's just too ridiculous. It's like series 3 turned into a show for little kids, even though there's drugs and raunchy sex scenes. Oh, and, just need to say it, the level of incest subtext in this show is insane. The incest shippers must have had a ball with it. Series 1 had that crazy guy trying to get Tony to have sex with Effie, and then series 2 had that girl ask Tony if he wanted to have sex with his sister, and series 2 also had Michelle's new stepfather and stepsister being incestuous to a disturbing yet hilarious degree, and then series 3 had the twins' brother spying on them while they were in the shower (and he wasn't ashamed one bit) and it also had the gangster!Gareth being disgusting with his daughter. WHAT is up with that? It's insane. My favorite though was definitely Michelle's stepfather and stepsister. Oh god, those scenes were so, so wrong. Especially the naked hot tub scene. Oh, this show. I'm moving through series 3 a whole lot slower than the rest. It's just... not as satisfying. I kind of wish I hadn't started watching series 3 and could just remember the perfection of the ending to series 2. Gah, Tony and Sid made me cry. And Max and Anwar made me smile. Chris. Oh god, Chris. And Jal. I ended up not liking Cassie in series 2. She was so sweet and beautiful in series 1, and then in series 2 she just... went crazy and I was saying "WHY does Sid love her?" Seriously, a relationship with her takes a whole lot of effort, and Sid doesn't like making an effort. They are doomed for all eternity. Also, where did these kids get the money to just randomly take off to New York??? Especially Cassie, who couldn't even afford her own place. And, what was up with all these nice people in New York? Psh, Sid's experience was way more realistic than Cassie's. I don't know, I just felt like the series steered her in a horrible direction, and she's the only one I ended up not liking, despite the fact that she was one of my absolute favorites in series 1. But, I understand why she did the things she did. She... has issues. And she's terribly dramatic. So... yeah, it didn't surprise me, it just made me see that she is seriously screwed up and it would take a whole lot of patience to be her friend. Tony, however, I went from despising to absolutely loving. So, I guess one cancels out the other.

ETA: Okay, I just watched the Pandora ep of series 3, and... I no longer dislike Cook (he made Pandora happy!). And, this episode was of the same caliber as series 1 and 2. And Effie got some layers again. And I loved the exploration of the Pandora/Effie friendship. Awesome ep.
