Dilemma...

I have this crazy urge to vid Miss Ripley to every Adele song ever. It's kind of crazy how well her lyrics match Myung Hoon's broody, betrayed feelings (and how he just can't stop loving Miri even though she's a completely different person from the one that he thought she was). Just... come on, Take it All is Myung Hoon all the way. And I feel like Turning Tables could sort of be applied to Miri and how she left Myung Hoon in part to protect herself, because she just doesn't believe in unconditional love, which makes it hard for her to trust Myung Hoon. And I thought that Rolling in the Deep would apply 100% to Myung Hoon/Miri, but now it looks like it might end up applying better to Yoo Hyun/Miri (but I still think I could make it work for Myung Hoon/Miri, especially since he was a total iceberg to her in the elevator scene in ep 10). And I seriously hope that Don't You Remember can be applied to Miri by the end of the series (and I want her to be feeling like this toward Myung Hoon. NOT YOO HYUN. Ugh, ugh I still cannot feel the ~true love~ that the press (and fans) are trying to make Yoo Hyun/Miri out to be. It's such a superficial love that I will be pissed if it ends up being the "real" love story. UGH. But see, it's become pretty clear that Myung Hoon is the one who will love Miri for all that she is forever and ever, while Yoo Hyun will get angry and turn away from her, and we all know that the deeply loyal man who treats his lady right in every way never gets the girl in k-dramas. They just don't, and I think this is only the second occasion where that really, really bums me out).

Seriously, Miss Ripley, surprise me! Let Miri realize that Myung Hoon is the one she wants! What attracts her to Yoo Hyun is his insane unconditional love, but it's Myung Hoon's that will be the true unconditional love, and it would just be awesome if Miri realizes this after everything falls apart and she's left with nothing. I doubt that there's a happy ending for anyone in this drama, but oooooooh do I want Miri to end the series actually learning how to love someone (Myung Hoon) and not being able to do anything about it because she screwed everything up. Basically, I want the ending to be her sitting alone in jail looking miserable and pondering her life decisions, and then we see a shadow of someone approach her jail cell and she looks up and we see a small smile. Oh god, actually, that ending would kill me, because I'd want to know for sure who that person was. I don't know, I don't know. GAH, THIS SHOW. I LOVE IT.

In other news, I've caught up with In Plain Sight, and my only real conclusion is that I seriously miss the early days when the show focused so heavily on the Mary/Marshall relationship. I miss them! I mean, they are still buds, and they are still the world's greatest partners, but I miss Marshall's subtle yet completely obvious unrequited love for Mary, and I miss them being each other's everything. And Mary being pregnant is an odd story development. And Brandi still gets the most boring storylines ever. And Stan is still super awesome. And the show itself is still surprisingly well-written (but damn it, I miss the cracky good times of seasons 1 and 2! So much!). Not sure where they're going with this baby storyline, but if it brings us more of Marshall doting on Mary, then I'm happy. And if she ends up keeping the baby and we get a whole lot of adorable Mary/Marshall as makeshift parents scenes, then I am totally down with that, because I am that easy.

When did In Plain Sight become such a brilliant show? SERIOUSLY, IT'S AMAZING. Two years ago I would have never thought that I'd call my beautifully cracky, purple prose-filled show brilliant television, but there you have it. Every single episode this season has been excellent, and I am just blown away by how right everything is now. It's a little hard to adjust to, honestly! I have nothing to mock, and that used to be my favorite part of watching IPS. But I am super happy that the show's gotten so wonderful, especially on the witness front, because too often the witness stories were just completely crazy and I was only in it for the Mary/Marshall, but now the show actually manages to make me invested in the witnesses to the point where I actually cry. Every episode is like a mini movie now, and it so works. I also love that the show has conveniently downsized Mary's family life, and what they do show of the family is directly related to Mary and pretty well done. Gone are the days of Brandi hanging out with a hobo and crying her eyes out FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER. And the Mary/Marshall? Still beautifully understated and there, and oooooh how Marshall's tortured pining will forever own me. His face when Mary made that crack about Raph and not needing a beautiful, sensitive man who adored her. Oh, Marshall, she just meant that she didn't need that beautiful, sensitive man who adored her, because obviously she is just waiting for you and doesn't know it yet. I think during last week's ep she was on the precipice of realizing that she already has what she's been looking for with Marshall and that's why her and Raph didn't work on an emotional level, but she just... doesn't get it yet. And she probably won't as long as they're partners, because getting involved with your partner is a big no-no for both of them (which, I am convinced, is at least half of the reason why Marshall stays silent on his feelings for her. The other half is that he knows she's not ready for him in that way yet, and may never be, and this kills him a little). Ooooh, I love that even with the reboot of this show, they've still managed to keep the Mary/Marshall romance so subtle yet still kind of obvious. It's a subtext ship all the way, but sort of not. I can't even explain it! But it's 100% canon that Marshall is madly in love with Mary, but it's never explicitly been stated. It's all longing looks and metaphors and Marshall or Mary relating to the witness of the week because it relates to their relationship. Just... gah, I love it. I love that the one thing this show has gotten perfect from day 1 is Mary/Marshall, and I love that the new showrunner kept them perfectly in tact and cleaned up everything else. I know that most of you stopped watching halfway through season 1, but trust me, dudes, WATCH SEASON 3. Everything that you all complained about? It's been fixed, and we now have a truly entertaining show that is equal parts action, comedy, and heart. I freaking love it.

Glee! I enjoyed Glee last night, mostly because it was a Sue-heavy episode, but also because I feel like last night's ep had THE most brilliant one-liners to ever grace television. Just... there were SO MANY that I was left kind of breathless. And the show now has me rooting for Finn/Rachel so hard that it's kind of disgusting. I was always ambivalent towards them in the past, and had a sort of love/hate relationship with Finn, but the last two eps have been writing him in that "vulnerable big lug that's kind of a ditz" way and I've fallen back into mad love with him, pretty much to the levels that I loved him during the pilot. But this show is not known for its consistent characterizations, so, I don't really expect to stay in love with him (or Finn/Rachel), so I'll just enjoy it while I can. KURT AND MERCEDES! Their Cheerios routine was so damn kickass, and I freaking love that they will now get more focus. My favorite moment of the ep, though? Sue's hurt look after Will mocked her hair. How this woman didn't win best supporting actress at the Golden Globes is beyond me, because she had me laughing like a lunatic through most of that scene, and then just that one look broke my heart and made me feel completely sorry for her when I know I shouldn't because she's Sue, and she immediately took out her pain on other people in a very mean way, but god does she make me feel for her. And I love how, in the end, the dude that she's been blackmailing is the dude that told her how utterly awesome she is. And you know she'll keep blackmailing him even though he's the one that made her feel better about herself, because that's just who she is. Oh, Sue. ♥ Will/Emma is back to bugging me. UGH, JUST LET THEM GET TOGETHER AND STOP MAKING ME CONVULSE EVERY TIME THEY ARE ON MY SCREEN. PLEASE. I wish I could love them, I really do, but UGH.

I've... been rewatching the latter half of the Colombian version of Ugly Betty again. Seriously, someone needs to stop me. But they're so beautiful! I can't help it. And it is sad how much Spanish I can now speak but have no idea of what the meaning is. I have learned the little phrases that they say quite a lot, though. Like "where are you" and "how are you" and "good day" and "see you tomorrow" and "woman" and "other" and "I love you" and "I understand" and "of course" and "ready" and "don't worry" and "damn it!" and stuff like that. But that's pretty much it. But the very fact that I've even learned that much tells me that I've been watching this show too much.

Oh, oh, also? That new CIA show on USA with Chris Gorham and Piper Perabo looks fantastic. I AM QUITE EXCITED FOR IT, ACTUALLY. For some reason I feel like it will appeal to me in the same way that Human Target does.

BASTARD!!!!

firthgal: (uther - too old for this shit)
DAMN YOU, UGLY BETTY! THANK GOD YOU ARE BEING CANCELED! ALL YOU DO IS HURT ME, GODDAMN IT! Seriously. Why do I go and get my hopes up only to have them crushed? WHY? Fucking misleading spoilers. FUCKING HENRY GODDAMN GRUBSTICK! UGH! NOW I REMEMBER WHY I HATED HIM. He always swoops in to crush me whenever I start believing in the show again. BASTARD. BASTARD BASTARD BASTARD. Er... Henry's not a bastard, he's actually kind of sweet to a fault, I am just saying bastard because for some reason that's my favorite profanity? I don't know. I am just bummed, because all spoilers and promos for next week's episode told me that the ep was supposed to be Daniel/Betty, but now it looks like it's not. AND I AM FREAKING CRUSHED. AND NOW I REALLY, REALLY FEAR WHAT THE FINALE WILL BRING. I keep thinking that Daniel will admit to Betty that his feelings are more than platonic in the finale and then Betty rejects him for her career, but now I seriously, seriously fear that it will be for Henry, and I will be utterly, irrevocably heartbroken if that happens. At least if it's for her career then there's a chance of them connecting again later, but if she goes off with Henry... that's it. But now I'm not even sure if Daniel will actually profess anything, because the spoilers love to mislead me and I am no longer trusting the ones that have been released. AUGH. THIS SHOW.

Anyway, the actual bulk of the London episode was really good, and I seem to be pleased with the show as far as plots of the week and comedy this season, but the overall story arcs still suck ass. But at least the episodes are enjoyable? Which is more than I can say for seasons 2 and 3. Also, there were a couple of utterly adorable Daniel/Betty scenes that I was not expecting at all, so that pleased me. And I think I really am shipping Betty/Amanda almost as hard as I ship Betty/Daniel. Good lord, Amanda is so ridiculously in love with Betty, and it's the cutest thing ever. How many times did she try to get Betty naked this week? And makeout with her? Ahahahaha, oh, Amanda, you horndog. I love her. The Willie/Tyler/Claire/Daniel drama was so, so boring, and I wish the show had just dropped this when it learned about the cancellation, because it feels so pointless, especially since it has to be wrapped up in two episodes. I would have much rather seen Wilhelmina start her own company and try to overtake the Meade empire that way, even trying to lure Betty over to her company in order to hurt Daniel, because she knows he's nothing without Betty (or, at least, that was the way it used to be until that suddenly disappeared in season 4). Anyway, overall story arcs suck, but the episodes themselves have been pretty entertaining this season, so, at least the show has that going for them. The little character moments are still beautiful, especially when it comes to Justin, Marc, and Amanda. I am still having trouble connecting with Betty though, and it is just sad that the show fails so horribly with its title character, especially since the original version was driven so much by Betty's emotion. With Betty Pinson Solano, there isn't a single moment where I'm not feeling what she's feeling, where I'm not crying with her or laughing with her or riding her highs or wanting to hug her. I am with her on her journey 100%, even when she's doing something morally reprehensible, because I know that she's aware of what she's doing and I know why she's doing it and I can feel the emotion behind it. With Betty Suarez, this just doesn't happen. I am SO detached from her as of late that I have trouble caring about her when she has these ridiculous moments of self reflection, or when she's being a big old hypocrite. I just... it's hard to put myself in her shoes when success just falls into her lap time and again and every guy she meets falls for her within five minutes of meeting her. This so misses the spirit of the original Betty. Betty Pinson Solano worked her ass off to get everything that she got. She freaking earned it, and she did not have man after man falling in love with her. The only one that fell for her pre-makeover was Armando, and that was accidental. So, you know, the show made me believe in her plight and I could actually identify with her. Betty Suarez, however, is just... ugh. I loved season 1 Betty most of the time, but she really went wrong somewhere along the line.

*sigh* I shouldn't have watched the Colombian version until the American version was over, because now I can't stop lamenting over how much the American version got the show so, so wrong. Like, I truly do think that season 1 was on the right track (minus the Fey Sommers ridiculousness) of capturing the spirit of the original while being completely different, but season 2 veered so far off from the original that it just lost its way. And now that I've seen the original and checked out a few of the others, I see how much the Betty/Armando relationship carries each and every version, and I really, truly, 100% believe that the American version failed creatively when it stopped nurturing the Betty/Daniel relationship. Betty and Daniel are so entirely different from Betty/Armando that I certainly wouldn't want their romance to happen in the same way, but the show could have easily progressed their relationship slowly throughout the course of the show and made us all root for them the way that everyone roots for Betty and Armando. And, Betty/Armando was so, so unhealthy, and most would probably agree that Armando was an asshole who didn't deserve Betty's love, but Betty loved him so completely, and he fell for her so hard that he was basically living just for her and she kind of drove him mad on purpose and he became stalkery and forceful, and yet... it was all so beautiful. I don't know. I don't know how the show made me root for them so completely despite their unhealthiness, but it did. Maybe because, when they were actually happy and together, they were so right for each other. They brought out the best in each other, made each other realize what it felt like to actually live. They were both so numb to life until they met each other. It was just... guh, I can't get over their wonderfulness, and I am in the midst of a mega rewatch of all the Betty/Armando scenes because I had forgotten a lot of the stuff that happened before the romance started, and GUH, I forgot how well they worked together, and how affectionate Armando was with her whenever she did something that pleased him, and how utterly douchey he was to her at all other times. *sigh* But I loved seeing that progression of how he came to depend on her for everything and she was so ridiculously important to him and he couldn't really figure out why, and he became rather possessive of her before the romance even started, getting super jealous over Nicholas and getting angry when Betty was all starry-eyed over that singer dude giving her a kiss on the cheek. Anyway, I caught a lot of things that I missed the first time around. Er... I think I was originally talking about the American version in this paragraph, wasn't I? I think my point was that the American version could have satisfied its need to be different while still going through with a Daniel/Betty romance, because the dynamic is so much healthier and it would have happened in a completely unique and genuine way. But, alas, the American version was determined to drop the heart of each and every version of this show. And I should just give up on it and be thankful that the Colombian version exists (though, I wish it would be released on official DVD with official English subtitles so that I could know what was actually being said. Or I could learn Spanish, but... I don't have much luck with learning foreign languages).

Last night was the season premiere of In Plain Sight! It was wonderful. I know that everyone was worried about the show getting revamped, but I'm pretty sure now that this was a good thing, because OMG, it was pretty much perfect in every way. The acting, the dialog, the plot, the cinematography, the music, even the set changes, it was all for the better. Even Jinx was good! WHEN HAS THAT EVER HAPPENED? The one jarring thing though is that they brought back the lame voiceovers that the show had mostly abandoned by season 2. I don't necessarily mind them, it just seems kind of pointless. At first I thought she was talking to a psychiatrist or something, but... she wasn't. But anyway, so much goodness happening in this ep. Marshall in his green scarf! "This looks like a trailor for Geriatric Marshals"! LaLa never wants to see Marshall again in his life! The Mary/Raph stuff is still confusing, though. On one hand, he's good for her, he really is. He's separate from her job and she can just wind down with him, but, it seems like she really only uses him for sex. Marshall is her emotional support system, he's the one that she shares everything with, he's the one that knows her inside and out, so she doesn't need Raph for that, or even want him for that. But he is a sort of place of peace for her (when he's not talking, basically).

Modern Family was also awesome and super hilarious. CAM IS AN ANGEL. OR A PERVERT. "Oh, you're so cute when you're angry with your little fists. I just want to put you in my pocket." "If a spider had broken in here he would have been in trou-ou-ble." OMG, CAM/MITCHELL, GREATEST COUPLE OF THE CENTURY, Y/Y? I also love that Luke seems to be the most resourceful Dunphy. And Manny hustling Jay! Heeeeeeee. Oh, this show, it just keeps getting better and better.

Psych. Psych was going so damn good until the drama at the end. UGH, I HATE IT WHEN THIS SHOW TRIES TO BE ANGSTY. IT FAILS SO HARD. SO, SO HARD. Can this Shawn/Juliet business be over and done with soon? PLEASE? For cripes sake, the show is just being cruel at this point. I don't even ship them and I'm like, "OH, COME ON ALREADY!" I can't take much more of that nonsense. On the bright side, there was some epic Lassiter/Juliet happening in this ep (not as epic as last week, but still super adorable).

Lassiter is so whipped )

Oh, oh! I saw a new preview for In Plain Sight! MARY AND MARSHALL WERE SMILING ADORABLY AT EACH OTHER. I so cannot wait for this show to return to me. The one show where my ship is going exactly where I want it to go [so far]. I admit though that I am scared about this since they've revamped the show with new writers and a new showrunner and whatnot. David Maples was very into the Mary/Marshall relationship, so it's kind of a travesty that USA booted him. But, you know, I understood USA's complaints with the show, because most of those complaints echoed my own. But still, USA has a way of ruining my ships in favor of the completely nauseating ones that make little to no sense, so, I am wary. But that commercial contained epic amounts of Mary and Marshall being adorable together, so perhaps I am worrying for nothing.

Dollhouse: Epitaph One - Of course the only two ships that I loathed on this show are the only ones that end up being canon. Oh universe, you live to mock me. )

Dollhouse: Unaired Pilot - SO much better than the aired pilot. Damn, FOX is stupid for meddling with this show. )

Torchwood: Children of Earth - I knew everything that would happen beforehand, and yet my gut still got kicked in the crotch. )

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - Slughorn rules all )

I had more fandomness to talk about, but I think I am all tapped out for today. One thing, though. IN PLAIN SIGHT! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!! I will probably picspam this baby, because I need some way to express my giddiness. It was AWESOME IN EVERY WAY IMAGINABLE! OH GOD! MARSHALL!!! I'm even kind of tempted to write a fanfic, which I haven't done for this show since... jeez, mid season 1? AAAAAH, MARY/MARSHALL, YOU ROCK MY WORLD!

So, True Blood. I was all excited for it since we didn't get an ep last week, and... blah. I am so bored with this stupid Marianne character and how her SUPER EVIL POWERS make everyone in town have wild hot sex with each other in public and eat dirt. I mean... COME ON. CAN WE PLEASE GET A MOVE ON WITH THIS STORY? If there even is one, jeez. I used to love Tara, I used to love Sam, I used to love Sam/Tara, I used to love the townspeople, and... now I just want them all off my screen. Ugh. Even Jason was more interesting this week than the town, and Jason's storyline is pretty effing boring (except, of course, when he gets naked). Lafayette was awesome as always, and he freaking cracked me up like crazy in his last scene. Eric is the epitome of awesome and every freaking scene should contain this man because good lord does he make everything 10 times more interesting than they would be without him. Seriously, the show should just entirely be him and Bill arguing with each other and insinuating gay vampiric love happenings while Lafayette dances around them and Jason streaks by every now and then with his lovely body on display, and Jessica can come in and pester Bill about something and then stomp out saying that he's so unfair, and then Sookie can come in and have crazy hot love vibes with Eric while Bill fumes and pushes her out of the room while she's all like, "BILL! I can decide for myself when to leave a room, thank you very much," and Jessica would be off dazzling some poor schlub while Bill is busy fuming over Sookie, and Eric will just watch it all with a smirk on his face (while he pines for his lost love Godric. Seriously, there's something going on there, and Bill knows it). THIS would be a winning show. Or, you know, kill Marianne and make the townspeople charming again. Anyway, I am still so, so in love with Jessica. She is the greatest thing to ever happen to this show. And Eric and Sookie's amusement over how she frustrates Bill is the GREATEST.

In Plain Sight. It made me cry. It made me laugh. It made me roll my eyes. All good stuff. Seriously cannot wait to see Marshall's reaction to the development that came out of this episode. Something stupid that I did: I went to the USA boards just to see what the chatter was, and, ugh, everyone is still so anti-Mary/Marshall that it kills me. Like, they are actually saying stuff like, "I don't see it. Marshall doesn't have feelings for Mary, that's a load of crap. I don't care what the actor said. Marshall doesn't like her like that." UM, YES HE DOES, YOU MORON. THIS IS CANON, FOR PETE'S SAKE! Jeez, apparently the show has to have him actually say the words to get it across to these stubborn douches instead of just Marshall not-so-subtly-but-apparently-too-subtly-for-these-morons dropping hints. Like, say, Marshall's only reason for wanting leave his position with the Marshal service being that it's too hard for him to be around Mary because he loves her and she doesn't love him. And that was in episode 1x04. I forget what he actually said, but I thought it was pretty obviously implied that he was saying, "I love you, but you're not ready to hear that, and you probably never will be, and it's too hard for me to be around you and want you so badly when you'll never want me in the same way or even appreciate all that I do for you, so I'm leaving." But then all she did was tell him that she didn't want him to leave, so he stayed. It was as simple as that. He's at her mercy, and it kills him inside, but it's also the most glorious feeling in the world for him. He knows it's not healthy, he knows it's torture, but being around her is a sweet torture that he can't get enough of. THIS WAS ALL LAID OUT FROM THE BEGINNING, YOU DOUCHES. And then there was episode 1x09 where the guy figured out that Marshall had a thing for Mary, and he says that line about male/female partners usually end up screwing each other or killing each other, or both. HELLO, NOT-SO-SUBTLE SUBTEXT. And then, in season 2, (A Frond in Need, I think?), we get Marshall's little speech about how he knows what it's like to want a relationship with someone so bad that you end up pushing them away because you try too hard, and it's obvious he was talking about Mary, especially when he said the thing about his dog running away and just trusting it to come back to him when it was ready, and that's basically his philosophy with Mary (which... yeah, Mary would so shoot him for comparing her to a dog, but it's how he deals with his feelings for her). So, yes, he is very much in love with Mary and has been from the beginning (I am so not loony for seeing it before almost anyone else did). Add to that, in every single interview Fred Weller talks about Marshall pining for Mary. Add to that, Marshall's original character bio said that he was hoping to be more than partners and friends some day. IT IS CANON. DEAL WITH IT, USA MESSAGEBOARD POSTERS. Good god, why do people have such an aversion to best friends falling in love ON A TV SHOW? THAT IS ENTIRELY FOCUSED AROUND THEIR RELATIONSHIP? If it's not filled to the brim with manufactured sexual tension then people automatically go, "Oh, they should just stay friends. I don't see anything there." And I say that about the relationships that are entirely based on sexual attraction. I don't watch TV relationships for the sex, I want emotional development, I want a slow-burn romance that takes years to build so that the pay-off is extra delicious. I want substance. I want characters knowing each other so completely that they don't even need to say anything to understand each other. I don't want a crappy, pointless marriage between Mary and Raph, especially when all signs point to, "GOOD LORD, THESE PEOPLE ARE SO WRONG FOR EACH OTHER." I just can't believe all the people on that messageboard talking about how good Mary and Raph are together. ARE THEY EVEN WATCHING THE SAME SHOW? RAPH IS AN AFTER-THOUGHT FOR MARY. SOMETIMES AN AFTER-AFTER-AFTER-THOUGHT. And Raph almost slept with her sister. Yeah, that's the makings of a super stable marriage right there. Mmmhmm. *huff* Anyway, the show has made it pretty clear that Raph is a short-term thing. If they make him anything else then the writers have seriously lost their minds. Especially since Raph is only sporadically in the show, and when he is, Mary is usually ignoring him. Psh. If Mary/Marshall turns into Daniel/Betty 2.0, I will be so very shattered.

Torchwood. My flist exploded with all kinds of reactions to the mini-series, and... I must say, you all tempted me into giving this show another try. I rewatched the pilot and I actually enjoyed it this time around. I remember abhorring it the first time I watched it (which... was probably 2 or 3 years ago), so I never gave the show another glance. But then series 2 happened and everyone kept saying that it was so much better than the first series, and I had vowed to give it another try eventually, but... I just never did. And now, after having developed a taste for crack-filled shows, I found the first two eps of season 1 of Torchwood to be absolutely delightful and I have NO IDEA why I was so turned off by it the first time. I remember thinking that the acting was horrible, the effects were ridiculous, and the plot was weak. And... yeah, that's all true for the most part, but now I like it. I blame True Blood and Robin Hood for this phenomenon. And Merlin, though I think the acting and overall plot of Merlin are pretty damn good (but there are quite a few moments where I laugh inappropriately). So, I'm probably going to be eating up Torchwood like crazy this week, and hopefully I'll be caught up for when the mini-series premieres on BBC America (although, that's my vacation week, so not sure if I'll manage to catch it or not). Shipping-wise, it's too early to tell what will grab my heart, but, if I'm not mistaken, the two main shipping factions are Jack/Gwen and Jack/Ianto, right? Since Jack/Gwen have that mentor/student thing happening, I'm fairly certain I'll end up shipping them, but uh, after episode 2, I'm kind of fond of Gwen/Owen...

ETA: Okay, scratch all that, I'm definitely shipping Jack/Gwen. But I'm kind of in love with Gwen/Rhys too because Rhys is too darn sweet. But Jack and Gwen keep having moments that I can't resist. Oh man.

In other news, I still look like somebody punched me in the eye. Now I'm wondering if it's actually a stye or something else entirely, because my last stye stopped being this puffy after one day of washing it with Head and Shoulders. I've been washing this puppy for three days and it just keeps getting worse, and it itches like the devil. Perhaps it was a mosquito bite after all. But it sure looks like a stye. I don't know.

Later I will probably post a meme round-up. Just thought I'd warn you beforehand. Because obviously memes are serious business.

So, apparently, it isn't how good an episode is that makes me want to picspam it, it's how utterly ridiculous it is that makes me want to picspam it. (Although I do plan on picspamming last week's ep sometime in the future, because the Mary/Marshallness of it was epic, but that will have to wait for another time because I seriously need to get the mocking of this week's ep out of my system). I really loved this ep for the pure randomness that it was. It was awesome.

Not dial-up friendly, but you all should know that by now )

OOOOH, THE GLORIOUS AMOUNT OF ADORABLE MARY/MARSHALLNESS IN THIS EP! IT PLEASED ME GREATLY! This episode was so very season 1 that I couldn't not love it. It was wonderful. And completely ridiculous.

So there you have it! Oh, does anybody know what that "Rico" line is referencing? I have no clue whatsoever, so enlightenment is needed.

DUDES! DUDES! THE MARY/MARSHALL HUG OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!! I AM FLAILING OVER IN PLAIN SIGHT LIKE THIS IS SEASON 1! HOLY CRAP! MARY/MARSHALL! LOVE LOVE LOVE! Also, the episode itself was pretty darn good, though the bit about Mary's father was terribly predictable. But I don't exactly watch this show for its [not] gripping mysteries, you know? But anyway, this episode was wonderful all around. THE MARY/MARSHALL BEAUTY WAS SO, SO EPIC! GAAAAAH! Also, I always love how Marshall gets all closed-off in the background whenever he sees Raph being boyfriendly with Mary. I love that man so much for inserting subtext while he's not even the focus of the scene.

TRUE BLOOD! HOLY CRAP! See? That's always my reaction to the show. Anyway, I think I ship Bill/Eric now. I CAN'T HELP IT! THEY GAVE ME ADORABLE CANON FODDER FOR IT! I fall in love with Eric more and more with each episode. He's awesome. Also, Lafayette. I think I was kind of expecting what happened to him. Or what they were suggesting would happen to him, anyway. Andy, the detective guy that got demoted last episode? I think he's becoming my favorite character. He's just so freaking hilarious with his epileptic meth head dancing. &hearts Also, that scene between Jessica and her father? HO MY GOD! That was wrong on SO many levels. Oh, kinky vampire show, you are kinkier than I originally thought you were. As for Jason, as much as I enjoy ogling him (he unnecessarily took his shirt off this time!), he gets some of the most boring/cracked out storylines ever. Why do they ALWAYS have to separate him from the rest of the main cast? Argh. But it did give us the best line EVER:

"What was that shit with you breaking the American flag like you some Muslim Buffy with a dick?"

Bwahahahahahahahaha! Oh, I love it. LUKINATOR! YOU ARE THE ONE THING KEEPING THE JASON STORY INTERESTING!

Also, I watched the first ep of Merlin on NBC, and oooooooh how it made me remember the depth of my love for Arthur/Merlin! The boylove was so very canon! Also, for the first time, I noticed that Gaius mentioned Morgana's nightmares in the pilot. Yay for continuity! I HAD NO IDEA! Also, Uther was a sexy beast with all of his flirting. Gaaaah, him sucking on the giant strawberry. HELLO THAR INNUENDO! NICE TO MEET YOU! PLEASE COME AGAIN! I also forgot how ridiculous the early eps of Merlin were. I don't watch eps 1-6 very often, but I do remember loving them immensely, it's just that it seems like the entire tone of the show changed for the better halfway through the series. Anyway, I loved seeing Merlin on my TV, but NBC was having a hell of a time coming in clear, which makes no sense since I have cable. Also, golf ran over, so I'm sure quite a few people skipped Merlin purely because of that. THANKS A LOT, NBC! WHO FREAKING CARES ABOUT TIGER WOODS? BRING ON THE MERLIN, DAMMIT! But seriously, does anyone actually watch golf on TV? It's like one step above soccer on the "nobody cares" scale. Possibly one notch below hockey. I'm sorry, I'll stop. But seriously, golf? You delayed a premiere that you've been advertising the heck out of for golf? *sigh*

Also, earlier today, I watched the Dead Like Me feature film on Netflix Instant Watch, and I adored it. I had heard that it sucked, but I actually thought it was pretty good (you know, if you cut out the crappy Daisy scenes. I hated Daisy during the course of the show, and I hated her even more in the movie. Blech. Also, my annoyance with Daisy used to always rub off on Mason, and I LOVED Mason before Daisy got there. Ugh. Yeah, my Daisy dislike has not edged off AT ALL). So anyway, I was glad that they kept the film mainly focused on George and Reggie. And even though Rube wasn't there, his presence was still felt, and I somehow found the film super shippy for my George/Rube loving heart (yeah, I'm crazy). Also, all the lovely friendshippy moments between George and Dolores Herbig Brown Eyes! I had forgotten how much George came to love Delores over the course of the series. Now the film has made me all nostalgic for seasons 1 and 2 of Dead Like Me, so I'll probably end up doing a rewatch over the course of the next couple of weeks. Also, I saw that [livejournal.com profile] ship_manifesto had one for George/Rube (it was the only manifesto for Dead Like Me, which was surprising), so that pleased me greatly. I'll have to read it before my rewatch.

In conclusion, I lazed around way too much today. But I did cut the grass, so that's something.

Fact: I actually LOVED an episode of In Plain Sight this season! WOO! Seriously dudes, it was amazing, and I am ashamed of myself for not watching it when it aired. I've become so disillusioned with this show for some inexplicable reason that I just DIDN'T CARE it was on, and I was doing other things, so I was like, "Meh, I'll skip it." DO I NEED TO SKIP IT EVERY SUNDAY IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE LOVABLE AGAIN? Because I'll do it if I have to. I haven't loved an ep this much since 1x12. It just had that classic season 1 feel to it with the added bonus of Jinx and Brandi NOT being annoying. Also, there was Brandi/Raph interaction, and once again I was reminded of how EPIC they were in comparison to Mary/Raph. Seriously, the dumbest thing this show did was drop the Brandi/Raph storyline. *sigh* But anyway, you know what this ep had that most of season 2 is lacking? Marshall pining over Mary in a terribly obvious yet completely subtle way. IT WAS SO, SO BEAUTIFUL! Guh, I love how he related it back to chasing a dog. Bwahahaha. I love Marshall. So very much. I really don't understand the people who call Mary/Marshall a brother/sister dynamic, because uh... Marshall has been pining for Mary from the very first episode. How do people ignore this fact? The issue has been raised in at least three episodes, probably more. But anyway, Marshall's dialog to Dennis killed me. It was utter perfection in that melty yet hilarious way.

Also, the Mary/Marshall banter was of season 1 caliber. Also, I loved the chemistry between Mary and the new girl (from That 70's Show!!!). Also, Mary was ridiculously beautiful in this episode. I may have to actually stop being a lazy butt and picspam this episode (although everyone on [livejournal.com profile] mary_marshall is all about the Marshall, but... whatever. They will just have to deal with my insane girlcrush on Mary McCormack).

Okay, I think I'm going to stop spamming you all now. Possibly. But first, let's take a gander at Coffee ASH since Bunny has reawakened my love for him:

*dreamy sigh* Apparently numerous people don't remember me squeeing my pants off about those commercials. But I did, I assure you. LOOK! PROOF! Apparently I was uncharacteristically calm and collected about it, but I assure you that while I was watching the ads I was squeeing my pants off. Anyway, those commercials? Beautiful. It's probably the closest I'll ever get to ASH being the romantic lead in a rom-com. *sigh* If those commercials made a re-emergence nowadays, there would be fanfic galore for them. Seriously. They'd put Mac/PC to shame.

Okay, now I'll stop spamming.

HELLO! Welcome back, Picspam Reviews! Oh, how I have missed you. So uh... I am lazy and just could not find the enthusiasm to picspam 2x01 last week, but hopefully I'll go back to it someday. For now, I bring you 2x02, In My Humboldt Opinion. Feel free to use this post to leave your thoughts on the episode! Or comment on my thoughts. Whatever floats your boat.

I really dug this episode )

In conclusion, this episode was classic IPS, and I really adored it. The plot of the week was really well done and the guest actors were wonderful. Definitely a giant step up from last week for me. Last week's ep had amazing Mary/Marshallness, but it was seriously lacking in all other departments. So I'm glad this week's ep was entertaining all around. Loved it.

So, I saw Watchmen, and... it was okay. From all the hype I was expecting something really profound, but, it was just another "humanity sucks and we are the reason why there is suffering" story. I mean, it was an interesting take on superheroes, but jeez louise I did not need a five minute sex scene between the most boring couple in existence. Yikes. Of course, I fell in instant love with Jon/Laurie and Rorschach/Dan, so perhaps I was a teensy bit biased, but seriously, Laurie/Dan was a complete snooze fest. Ugh. Rorschach was an awesome character, but I do not get all these fangirls being in love with him. He... was not sexy in any way. But I did feel for him. In fact, he reminded me a whole lot of Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver, especially in the beginning when he talks about washing the vermin from the streets. But, his intentions were very different from Travis's. Rorschach despised humanity, but at the same time, he wanted to preserve it. Travis Bickle just plain old hated humanity and wanted to matter for once in his life. Anywho, Rorschach was a great character, but the one that I fell in mad love with was Jon. I don't even know why. Because I saw his schlong? I don't know. He just... he had all this subtle depth that I adored, and that moment on Mars with Laurie where he explains how she made him care about humanity again, gah! Yeah, my soul, it was owned. Jon's story was definitely the one that moved me the most. I was expecting more from The Comedian since he seems to pop up almost as often as Rorschach in general Watchmen talk, but yech. I really didn't like him, but I got what he represented. I HATED that the original Miss Jupiter loved him despite the things he did to her, but again, I get what that represented. It wasn't trying to be misogynistic, it was just saying that most people accept humanity for what it is, the good and the bad, no matter how much it fucks us over. One thing I wasn't sure on though, spoiler ) Anyhow, I'm not a big fan of the whole slow-mo + graphic violence combination, so even the few fights there were didn't do much for me (and... kind of grossed me out. And this is coming from someone who loves John Woo's extremely bloody Chow Yun-Fat movies). It just wasn't my style. But I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It was fairly entertaining, but not amazing. In all honesty what grabbed me was the Laurie/Jon romance, and, dudes, I NEVER go for the romances in action movies. I go for the action. So, that's a strange thing for me. And the Rorschach/Dan friendship got me too, but that didn't really start until the last hour of the movie, and I am convinced that if they had cut most of the Laurie/Dan stuff I would have enjoyed the movie far more (and, it would have been much shorter. Two and a half hours is just too long).

Wow. I did not mean to go off on so many tangents. Especially the Dollhouse one. But, that show brings about a lot of tangents.
