I'm warning you right now, this post is full of this hyper rambling... )

Is it weird that I never liked Hootie until he left the Blowfish and put some twang into his background music? Probably. But it's a lovely song. I remember the first time I heard it I knew that I knew the voice, but for the life of me I couldn't figure it out. And then the radio person was like, "That's Darius Rucker with blah blah..." and I was like, "OMG, HOOTIE! NO WAY!" I really want to hear the rest of his album. Hey, wait, is that that Jared Padelsomethingrather from Supernatural/Gilmore Girls? Or just a lookalike? Hmm... he looks too pretty, probably not him.

Okay, MEME TIME!

Colin Firth, Veronica Mars, martial arts films, Sam Seaborn, Robert DeNiro, Gilmore Girls, Crews/Reese )

Whew! Told you there was a lot of hyperness. I don't know where it came from.

So I had to go to that far away bank that's by Target again for the business, and I had mentioned to my mom over the weekend that I wanted the new Phil Vassar CD (Prayer of a Common Man), so she left me a $20 bill (score!) of which I was only to use for that CD, but I just couldn't resist buying the new Gary Allan CD (Living Hard) too, because he has invaded my heart (damn you, Gary!).  My mom didn't care though (she's too easy to take advantage of sometimes).  And, OMG, GARY'S ALBUM IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!  I LOVE IT!  I think I love it even more than Phil's album.  So now I bring you the best songs off of both albums, because they are SO AWESOME!  Seriously, I love these guys.  Well, obviously I love Phil since I've seen him in concert 3 times (and he autographed my T-shirt at one of them!!!), but Gary is so next on my MUST SEE IN CONCERT list.  It would be so freaking awesome if he'd come to the pavillion (he'd probably go to JPJ arena though if he came through here, which sucks because JPJ won't sell the floor seats to the public, whereas the pavillion is half the price and I can get extremely close to the stage).  Anyway, here are my favorites:

Gary Allan (in addition to Watching Airplanes and Learning How to Bend):

We Touched the Sun
Like It's a Bad Thing
As Long As Your Looking Back
Yesterday's Rain (this one killed me)
Trying to Matter

Phil Vassar

This is My Life
Love is a Beautiful Thing
Prayer of a Common Man
It's Only Love
Let me Love you Tonight
Baby Rocks
Crazy Life (this one's my #1 favorite)

OMG, I've just gotten through the entire series of My So-Called Life, and my opinion has completely changed.  THIS SHOW IS AWESOME IN EVERY WAY!!!!  So freaking good I can't even begin to describe how much it sucked me in.  I really wish I had watched this when I was a teenager, because it was a lot more realistic than Saved by the Bell.  Bwahahahaha.  I used to love Saved By the Bell.  Anyway, what really drew me into MSCL?  The unrequited love story between Angela and Brian.  And even the romance between Angela and Jordan, because it was SO much like a real high school romance that it's sad.  She spent her entire school year obsessing over Jordan, and then he fell for her, and then they were only together for about 2 weeks.  Oh, how sadly true to life that is.  And in her head she imagines him to be this perfect, romantic guy, and when he actually speaks it's just so disappointing.  Aww.  He had to go and ruin the fantasy.  And yet... once she figured out how flawed he was, she still "loved" him, and she actually got closer to him after they broke up.  Then he really fell in love with her.  Then he screwed up.  And who helps him get her back?  None other than the dorky, goody goody, brainiac that is Brian.  An adorable brainiac, I might add.  And so he writes an apology letter for Jordan, basically spilling his own feelings for Angela, and he's perfectly okay with this because all he wanted was to see her happy.  OMG!  All he and Angela ever did was fight with each other, and in just about every episode his silent love was torturing him, and in the end all he cared about was her happiness.  The ending to the last ep was the greatest thing ever.  It was so tortuously unresolved.  Probably because the show got canceled, but it totally worked as an ending.  We were left with an almost kiss between them and Angela getting into Jordan's car and watching Brian as they drove off.  And it just ends on Brian and his bike, him watching the car drive off, a look of relief at the fact that his feelings were kind of revealed.  So beautiful.  And that totally hints that Angela and Brian were the real love story, even though nothing actually happened between them.  They just... shared the same soul.  Angela was just too blind to realize it.  One thing I didn't like though was that Angela and Rayanne's fight was never resolved.  Ricky's sexuality was addressed, Brian's feelings were revealed, Jordan finally accepted his love of Angela, Angela was left being torn between Jordan and Brian, but Rayanne's story was just left wide open.  Bummer.  But still, this is an awesome show, filled with realistic portrayals and a whole lot of angst.  You just know all of these characters in real life.  I knew quite a few Brian Krakows, and I knew a couple Rickies, a few Rayanne's, and a whole lot of Angelas and Sharons.  It was just... wow.  Awesome show.  I'M IN LOVE WITH BRIAN!!!  Why did I not fall for the Brians of the world in high school?  I fell for less pretty versions of Jordan, and they were all assholes.  I was friends with the Brians, but I fought with them most of the time.

Another awesome show?  Friday Night Lights.  This one doesn't make me obsess, but it certainly keeps me coming back for more.  It has the most realistic portrayal of a marriage that I have ever seen on TV.  Coach Taylor and his wife are just the most beautiful thing to watch.  They give me this huge smile and such a warm feeling in my heart.  It's the kind of marriage that most people hope for.  No big, fairytale romance, just two people who love each other more than anything and have been through everything together and they just do their best to survive in this world and to do the right thing.  They get each other completely, support each other, disagree with each other, tease each other, make each other happy.  Just... beautiful.  Definitely my main draw to the show.  But I love that everything feels so real.  The small southern town, the football, the characters.  You just know these characters in real life.  Love it!  Not fond of the shaky camera though.

And now, for the survey (stolen from [profile] tinted_glass):
