So I had to go to that far away bank that's by Target again for the business, and I had mentioned to my mom over the weekend that I wanted the new Phil Vassar CD (Prayer of a Common Man), so she left me a $20 bill (score!) of which I was only to use for that CD, but I just couldn't resist buying the new Gary Allan CD (Living Hard) too, because he has invaded my heart (damn you, Gary!).  My mom didn't care though (she's too easy to take advantage of sometimes).  And, OMG, GARY'S ALBUM IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!  I LOVE IT!  I think I love it even more than Phil's album.  So now I bring you the best songs off of both albums, because they are SO AWESOME!  Seriously, I love these guys.  Well, obviously I love Phil since I've seen him in concert 3 times (and he autographed my T-shirt at one of them!!!), but Gary is so next on my MUST SEE IN CONCERT list.  It would be so freaking awesome if he'd come to the pavillion (he'd probably go to JPJ arena though if he came through here, which sucks because JPJ won't sell the floor seats to the public, whereas the pavillion is half the price and I can get extremely close to the stage).  Anyway, here are my favorites:

Gary Allan (in addition to Watching Airplanes and Learning How to Bend):

We Touched the Sun
Like It's a Bad Thing
As Long As Your Looking Back
Yesterday's Rain (this one killed me)
Trying to Matter

Phil Vassar

This is My Life
Love is a Beautiful Thing
Prayer of a Common Man
It's Only Love
Let me Love you Tonight
Baby Rocks
Crazy Life (this one's my #1 favorite)

Okay, so... I'm definitely in a Gary Allan mood.  I'm sure it's fleeting and will be gone by tomorrow, but right now I am totally embracing my Gary Allan love.

Oh yes.  Let's start with some music to put you in the mood:

Learning How to Bend
See if I Care
Songs About Rain
Crying for Nothing
I'm Doing My Best
Life Ain't Always Beautiful
Tough Little Boys
Watching Airplanes
The Best I Ever Had

Those last two are absolute must haves, I LOVE THEM!!! (I already spammed you with the vids earlier).

1. The most moronic woodpecker in existence lives in my neighborhood.  This neighborhood is filled to the brim with trees, and what does this stupid woodpecker do?  He pecks at our ALUMINUM siding house.  WHAT THE FUCK, WOODPECKER?  GO AND FIND SOME WOOD AND GIVE ME SOME PEACE AND QUIET!!!  Seriously, our house is entirely covered in aluminum, and the stupid thing is pecking away all over the house, and always in the same exact spots.  And the woodpeckers around here are HUGE!  They're almost the size of chickens, these things (just not as chubby), so you can imagine the dents that the damn thing is putting on our house.  And then... AND THEN... he moves over to the neighbor's house, which is also completely aluminum, then he moves to the brick house across the street, then he comes back to our house.  AND THERE ARE A BILLION TREES IN BETWEEN THAT HE COMPLETELY DISREGARDS!  WHAT THE FUCK, WOODPECKER?  UGH!  GO AWAY!  YOU ARE MAKING ME WANT TO BUY A SHOTGUN!

2. Mr. Bean's Holiday was frickin' HILARIOUS!  I love this film.  No matter how old I get, I still love Mr. Bean just as much as I did when I was 5.  We had taped all the shows off of HBO when I was little, then when I was a teenager they started showing reruns on PBS and I fell in love with him again, then in my 20s I bought the DVD set of the entire series and I fell in love yet again, and I've even watched Bean the movie at least 50 times even though it's not so great, and now Mr. Bean's Holiday has reawakened my love again.  OMG, I LOVE YOU MR. BEAN!  How would Mr. Bean get rid of a pesky woodpecker?  I'm sure he'd come up with an awesome plan (that would leave a path of destruction in his wake).

3. I think I'm starting to fall in love with Gary Allan, which is weird, because I used to hate his music, but now I can't stop listening to him.  He started to win me over when he released Songs About Rain a few years back, which is pure awesomeness, and then he melted my heart when he released Tough Little Boys after he had his daughter, and I was like, "Okay, fine, he's not so bad."  Then his wife committed suicide and he kind of had a dark period, particularly when he released a cover of Best I Ever Had, and that's when I really fell in love with him.  His voice was just so full of pain and it was kind of haunting and so completely beautiful, and I had to listen to it over and over and over and I still love it, and I actually think it's better than the original version (but I'm biased since I like country better than rock).  But you can really feel his pain and his loneliness there, and I just want to hug him.  AND THEN, he released Life Ain't Always Beautiful, and gah!!!  I fell even more in love, and it was such a great follow-up to Best I Ever Had, because it's about healing and appreciating life despite the pain, and again, I just wanted to hug him, and it makes me tear up every I listen to it.  Then a few months ago he released Watching Airplanes, and I LOVE this song.  The style, his voice, the way that you kind of feel a breeze on your face as you listen to it, I love it.  And now he's just released Learning to Bend, which I loved so much that I used it for my Crews/Reese vid, and the true test of whether I really like a song or not is if I can still listen to it after I used it for a vid, because I have to listen to it SO MANY TIMES and really break it down that I just get sick of it, but I can't get enough of this song.  So beautifully unique, and his voice sounds awesome.  And... yeah, I'm falling in love with him.  His hair is so beautifully high.  He's one of the few men that I think actually looks better without a cowboy hat.  And usually tattoos are a total turn off for me, but on Gary?  They are HOT!  Anyway, it's hard to believe that this is the same dude who made All I'm Gonna be is Her Man and Smoke Rings in the Dark and Man of Me (although, listening to them now, I kind of like them (particularly Man of Me), which means I am totally into him, because I used to not be able to stand those songs).

4.
TMI... )

5. It's hot outside.  HOT HOT HOT!  I am so ready for the beach.  Is it July yet?  OMG, I CAN'T WAIT FOR VACATION!!!  Hopefully we won't have a big family squabble two weeks before we leave like we did last year.  Things were... awkward.

6. My nephew and his parents are at Disney World.  Nephew is incredibly excited, he chattered on and on about Mickey and Minnie to my mom last night on the phone.  I miss him.  But I don't think he misses me, at all.  The little bugger.  My sis-in-law actually invited me along, but... her grandmother, aunt and uncle, and 6-year-old cousin were going too, and I... didn't want to share a hotel room with anyone.  Yes, I'm weird, but I like my space.  It's a good thing I didn't go though, because now I have to save up money to address the TMI thing.  My parents almost booked a room at the beach for the weekend, but my mom thought that my dad was joking, so she didn't do it.  Bummer. :(  I could be sitting on the beach right now with my toes wiggling in the sand and listening to the sweet sound of the waves.  It's frickin' hot, so it would have been a good weekend to go.  Of course, my favorite thing about the beach is the food.  We have our favorite restaurants that we always have to hit, so I could also be eating some of the best Italian food ever.  They also talked about going to New York, but they didn't make any plans there either. *weary sigh*  Oh well.

7. Damian Lewis is sexy.

8. I had a Jack/Liz dream this morning, but it was in the form of fanfiction, so... that was weird.  I think it was my brain trying to tell me to write a post-ep fic for the last episode, but... I can't write Jack/Liz.  I just can't.  It's too hard.  Seriously, I balk at pretty much any 30 Rock fic that is not by [personal profile] michellek or [profile] scullybabe626, because they have spoiled me with their perfect characterizations that I can't cut anyone a break.  And I'm harder on myself than I am on other people, so... yeah, not going to happen, unless I'm really in the mood to experiment.
