favorite pairing: The epitome of all teacher/student ships - Buffy/Giles, BtVS. Sure, it was purely a subtext ship, but man was it some damn good subtext. So many repressed feelings and confusion happening in this ship, but despite that, they really understood each other, even if they weren't all that great at expressing their feelings for each other (or even labeling their feelings for each other). They existed for each other, because of each other, and I just can't resist that. Now, because this was a show mainly aimed at teenage girls, naturally Buffy fell in love with the pretty vampires instead of her much older teacher, but it really can't be denied that her strongest emotional bond was with Giles. What she had with Angel was epic, but not necessary to her survival (and, really, mostly based on hormones). What she had with Spike was screwed up and a way of dealing with what happened to her, but it lacked emotion (from her), and I am still convinced that it only happened because Giles left her. As for Giles, he was her heart, her light, her safehouse. Had BtVS been a Korean drama, it so would have been a romance between Giles and Buffy.

Speaking of Korean dramas, Eun Byul/Teacher Jang from I am Sam will always hold a special place in my heart, as will Yun Bok/Hong Do from The Painter of the Wind. Two male teacher/female student ships that actually got to be realized (but sadly never quite consummated, unless you count hand holding as consummation, which in these two dramas it sort of was).

favorite irl pairing: John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.

ALWAYS. ♥ I know this is bad of me, but I hate hate HATE the fact that they are now both doing teleseryes without each other. WHAT IS THAT NONSENSE? But, okay, I totally want to see the one with John Lloyd, because he is playing a VAMPIRE. I have to see that craziness.

favorite together-in-real-life pairing: Bill and Sookie! Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin!

LOOK AT HER FIDDLING WITH HIS BUTTON! LOOK AT HER GIGGLING WHEN HE SAID "WE'VE BEEN DOING IT A LONG TIME"! OMG, they are so freaking adorable, I love them.

favorite book pairing: William Monk/Hester Latterly from the Inspector Monk series by Anne Perry. I check out those books from the library at least once a year just to relive their glorious bickering and begrudging respect/love for each other.

favorite movie pairing: Probably Henry Higgins/Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady. I'm also quite fond of Anna/King from Anna and the King. And Jack/Elizabeth from PoTC.

favorite tv-show pairing: Currently it is Jeff/Annie from Community (but, as you can see from my first answer, the mainstay here is Buffy/Giles from BtVS)

favorite endgame pairing: Alan/Denny from Boston Legal. THEIR BROMANCE WAS EPIC. I will never get over the fact that they actually got married. I guess I should also qualify Tony/Angela from Who's the Boss, even though the show totally screwed them over in the later seasons. Also, Daniel/Betty from Ugly Betty, because I shipped the heck out of those two (sadly the romance didn't happen in the way I wanted it to, but at least they sort of ended up together in the end).

favorite non-endgame pairing: Damon/Elena from Vampire Diaries? Even though I'm not positive about where the show is heading with these two, I'm fairly certain that they aren't the endgame ship, but I love the crap out of them anyway. Also, there was a brief time when I adored House/Cameron with all of my heart and soul, even though I knew that they could never, ever work out. Ever.

favorite non-canon pairing: Oh, gosh, so many! Uther/Morgana from Merlin, Lassiter/Juliet from Psych, Monk/Sharona from Monk, Spencer/Sam from iCarly, Jack/Liz from 30 Rock, BUFFY/GILES.

favorite crack-ship: Kelly/Andy from The Office, forever and always. Also, Cromartie/Ellison from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (which is far more applicable to the crack ship title).

pairing with the hottest sex: Bill/Sookie, True Blood. See: Sex scene at the end of 3x08/beginning of 3x09. Too hot even for YouTube, apparently.

pairing with the hottest make-outs: JEFF AND ANNIE, COMMUNITY

pairing with the hottest chemistry: Betty/Armando from the Yo Soy Betty la Fea. Their chemistry may not have started out hot, but good lord did they leave me breathless by the end.

pairing that you recently got into: Um... the OTPs in all of the countless K-dramas that I watch

pairing that the actors got you to ship: Jeff and Annie, Community. I guess? Their chemistry is so wonderful that I couldn't resist it, but even with them it's more about how well the characters compliment each other.

pairing that you ship, but wouldn’t be upset if they weren’t endgame: Damon/Elena, Vampire Diaries. I see Damon as such a tragic figure that it would probably be weird if he actually got the girl. And I just don't see Elena ever being able to get over her love for Stefan.

pairing with the best marriage: Marshall/Lily, HIMYM. I WANT THEIR LOVE.

pairing with the best story-line: At this point in time I am going to say Damon/Elena, because I am thoroughly enjoying their tenuous friendship littered with romantic ~feelings that is bound to end tragically for all parties involved.

pairing with the best friends to couple scenario: Jack/Liz, Lassiter/Juliet, Jeff/Annie... pretty much the majority of my ships.

In other news, I have now seen Megamind, and it was hilarious. And adorable. The story kind of lost direction here and there, but I think I was so invested in the character of Megamind that I didn't even care.

Also, I don't think that I ever mentioned that I saw the new Harry Potter film the day it came out. The world was trying to conspire against me with traffic jams and accidents and the longest red lights in the history of anything, but by golly, I got to that damn cinema! It took me an hour and a half, but I did it. Missed the showing that I was going for, but luckily it was playing in all the theaters, so, I didn't have to wait long for another showing. I enjoyed the film, but I was wicked tired, therefore I had trouble staying awake. But I enjoyed the film much more than I did the book. I loved how dark they went with this one. Heck, some parts had me nearly jumping out of my seat. The films have come quite a long way since the first one. Also, I find it perplexing how I so fiercely ship Ron/Hermione in the books, but in the movies I always find myself wanting Harry and Hermione to end up together. Craziness.

I have basically spent the past week obsessing over Kim Seung Woo, and somehow watching him in his various dramas and awful, awful movies, I keep getting reminded of John Lloyd Cruz, which in turn made me spend my Sunday reliving my John Lloyd/Bea obsession (but I also watched Dubai, which I rented from Netflix four months ago and never actually opened, and OMG did it make me cry. John Lloyd Cruz never fails to dazzle me with his superior acting skills, but the dude who played his brother in this matched his talent so very well and they just had me bawling through so much of the film. And I loved how there was this super cheesy love song playing over their dramatic reaffirmation of their love for each other as their heads slowly drift together. MY LOVE IS ONLY FOR YOOOOOOOOU! Most beautiful brotherly love story ever). Anyway, upon my revisit to my John Lloyd Cruz love, I realized that 1) JLC makes me ridiculously giddy whenever he first appears on my screen, 2) John Lloyd and Bea are still my #1 favorite love team forever and ever and ever, 3) JLC does that whole weepy-eyed, heartbreaking unrequited love thing in the exact same beautiful way that Kim Seung Woo does, 4) JLC is more adorable and definitely a better actor than KSW, but KSW is way sexier, 5) both JLC and KSW cry in every single thing that they are in (oh, wait, wait! I don't think KSW cried in IRIS. He was too badass and stoic for such weak emotions), and 6) THEY REALLY FREAKING LOOK ALIKE:

Bwahahaha, I couldn't resist that last comparison. SAME POSE. So, yeah, I am wondering if perhaps my love for Kim Seung Woo is coming entirely from my love for JLC, but... I truly do think that KSW is a brilliant actor. He is so good at the subtle stuff, totally brilliant at portraying characters who repress their emotions to a fault and yet as the audience you always know what he's feeling, he can be goofy and badass and romantic and noble and lecherous all within the same drama/film, and... well, the man is beautiful. I ♥ him a lot. But John Lloyd Cruz is always in my head when I watch him. It's freaky.

Yesterday I purchased three Kim Seung Woo films off of ebay (which, considering the fact that they're being shipped from South Korea, were fairly cheap). But now, after having watched a couple of his films online, I am doubting that I'll enjoy any of them. Mainly I just wanted Secret Tears, which looks so utterly ridiculous yet completely intriguing (sketchy age gap romance, I couldn't resist!), so, I am looking forward to that one, even though I hate horror films. But clearly KSW picks better dramas to star in than films (I watched Spring Breeze last night and it was just so, so confusing and ludicrous, and then today I tried watching Yesterday, but this one is also super confusing, but at least it has good action scenes and decent acting. And it has Kim Sun Ah! Being kickass! And quite possibly having a crush on Kim Seung Woo's character? I don't know, I am only halfway through the film, got distracted by my need to watch John Lloyd Cruz).

So uh... you know how I was shipping Chul Young and Soon Hwa like crazy during my watch of IRIS? You know, these two beautiful mofos:

I felt that they had crazy hot chemistry that NEEDED TO BE EXPLORED, but sadly it wasn't, yet I still enjoyed their awesome relationship of killer stoicness as it was. But anyway, I've been YouTubing Kim Seung Woo all day (because apparently he is my new obsession. He's even my new desktop wallpaper!) and I came across this epicness:

(Part 1)

(Part 2)

(Part 3)

ARE THEY NOT THE MOST SPLENDIDLY BEAUTIFUL COUPLE TO EVER GRACE THE EARTH? HOLY CRAP.

I also came across this lovely vid that KSW did with the rejected fiance from Boys Over Flowers, who I adored, plus, AGE GAP, so this vid made me kind of giddy. Not as giddy as the ones he did with Kim So Yeon, though. Korean music videos are so utterly insane, BUT I LOVE THEM.

Also, I've concluded that my main attraction to Kim Seung Woo comes from him looking so much like an older version of John Lloyd Cruz. The resemblance is uncanny.

So, I've sort of been catching up with Wizards of Waverly Place, and I cannot stop shipping Harper with Alex and Justin's dad. I JUST CAN'T STOP. They are pretty much made for each other. It doesn't help that the mom is mysteriously absent through most of season 3 and Harper is more of a mom character than the mom was. I don't know, dudes, I don't know why this Disney show gets me shipping the really naughty pairings, but hey, at least it's not incest this time? *sigh* The Third Wheel episode in particular kind of proves their OTPness, but there have been more (I think I was secretly shipping them during season 2, but season 3 has made me legitimately ship them, and for the first time ever I am kind of depressed that the fandom is only about Justin/Alex).

In Jeff/Annie news, a couple of fics that completely rocked my world:

Sophomore Year by [livejournal.com profile] judykim97 - an epic that totally convinces me on every level that Jeff/Annie can and will work in canon if given the chance. Only, you know, the show would make it less angsty (but I love my angst, especially Jeff!angst, and this fic delivered on that so beautifully). I was laughing out loud through so many parts of this fic, not only from the Jeff/Annie banter but also from the ensemble. This fic was just beautifully plotted out and should be read by everyone, because it's magnificent. Definitely one of my top favorites (I read over 20,000 words in one sitting, so you know I enjoyed it. And hey, if you get to the end, you can read my spaztastic review in the comments!).

I tried to be chill (but you're so hot that I melted) by [livejournal.com profile] dollsome - Hilarious and delightful and sweet and full of adorable awkward!Jeff/Annie and the POV jumps around between Jeff and Annie which gives us this completely interesting narrative and, well, I adore it. Did I mention that it's hilarious? Because it is.

It's fics like these that make me really, really miss Community, but at the same time, they're kind of spoiling me with these beautifully in character fics that feel so much like the actual show that I'll be depressed when this stuff doesn't happen come season 2, and it makes me kind of wish that these fics were the show. I don't know, it's complicated.

Day 10 - Why aren't these two married in real life?

Oh, this one's easy, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo!

I am baffled as to how these two have never been romantically interested in each other (because, seriously dudes, their chemistry is smokin'), but I'm pretty sure that their sexual aversion to each other is responsible for their longevity as a show business love team, so I'm certainly not going to complain. They have a very BFF type relationship going on in public, and they just seem really comfortable with each other and are quite often hugging each other or sleeping on each other or leaning on each other or smiling adorably at each other or teasing each other mercilessly or singing cheesy songs to each other and they are just the cutest couple to ever grace the earth. Even though, technically speaking, they're not actually a couple. But in my mind they will always be a little bit in love with each other, and yes, I have imagined that they are just waiting for each other and will one day get married. Because I'm lame like that.

OMG, THEY ARE SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL!

Well, I've had a lovely two day reprieve from my niece and nephew, but they're coming back tonight since the new baby will be born tomorrow morning (yay! Let's hope that all goes well this time), so, I'm doing my meme now, because I probably won't have time to do much of anything tonight but sleep. Which is what I'm supposed to do at night...

The 30 Day Shipping Meme
Day 04 - The pairing with the most chemistry?

Um... can I choose ALL of my ships? Okay, okay, I guess I'm going to go with Jackie and Eli from Maging Sino Ka Man. Basically, anything that John Lloyd and Bea do together contains the greatest chemistry ever, but I think they really outdid themselves with that teleserye. They got the bickery adorableness down pat right from the start, and the unrequitedness at various points in the story was so magnificently well done, and their UST/sexual chemistry was kind of mind-blowing, and they were frustrating and tragic and beautiful and delightful all at the same time. They rocked my world, is what I'm saying. A couple of my favorite clips:

Just some background, Eli is super poor and he has had a giant crush on Jackie for a long time, Jackie is super rich, their first couple meetings don't go too well (he thinks she's stuck up, she thinks he's grumpy), then later Jackie gets amnesia from a car accident after Eli's brother kidnaps her and his brother tells Eli to take care of her and hide her so that his accomplices don't kill her, and while Jackie and Eli are away they live as a married couple (it was Eli's cover story, and since Jackie wakes up with amnesia, she thinks it's true). They fall in mad love after many trials and tribulations, but then, just when everything is going peachy, Jackie gets conked on the head again and forgets her time with Eli and takes a bus back home. Eli is extremely heartbroken even though he had prepared himself for it, and he goes back to his old life and more misfortunes happen and he gets entangled with Jackie again and falls in love all over again (as does she, which is mightily confusing to her), but she's engaged to JB, who he is indebted to, and it's all so tragic (yet his scenes with Jackie are super adorable, especially whenever she gets jealous of him and his friend that's a girl), and he's still angry that she can't even remember a time that was so very special to him, and that's where this clip picks up:

Epic love confession II

And then this next clip comes after much mistreatment and bitterness and the destruction of both of their families at each other's hands. Both characters have been through so much tragedy because of each other, and yet they managed to fall in love for a third time, and this is them finally getting to genuinely enjoy their love without a trace of deception, and it's so, so lovely:

Cute cute cuuuuuuuuute!

*dreamy sigh*

So, I finished It Might Be You tonight. The ending/reunion was way less dramatic than I was thinking it would be, but they were apart for so freaking long that I didn't even care, I was just over the moon to see them smiling at each other again, but I was quite angry over the fact that Lawrence had a romance with Cielo's sis-in-law and they totally got to kiss on the lips several times, while Cielo and Lawrence only got one stinking kiss in the entire series and it was at the very end, in slow motion, at their wedding. WTF? Okay, yes, I swooned at said kiss, but still. And now I am sad, because all I have left to watch of the John Lloyd/Bea team-up is the last third or so clips of Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay and then I will have watched their entire resume of projects together. WHAT AM I GOING TO OBSESS OVER AFTER THAT? TELL ME! I'm not ready to stop swooning over the epicness that is John Lloyd and Bea. I'm just not. Actually, I will probably end up rewatching I ♥ Betty la Fea yet again, because that's what I do, but I also kind of want to rewatch Book 1 of Maging Sino Ka Man, because it feels like I moved through that one way too fast and so much plot was happening in that one that I probably missed a lot of their little moments. And of course I've been watching their films over and over again (namely Close to You, which I don't think I will ever get tired of).

All right, in fandom news that you guys will actually (maybe) pay attention to, IT'S PIERCE WEEK ON [livejournal.com profile] community_tv! I think I am inappropriately excited about this, especially since barely anyone is participating. WHAT UP, FANDOM? GIVE PIERCE SOME LOVE, DAMN IT! I shouldn't reprimand. I tend to ignore any fanworks that are not Jeff/Annie related, but this is Pierce we're talking about! I need me some Pierce fanfic (and yeah, I couldn't resist leaving a Pierce/Britta prompt, which I know for a fact will never get filled since most people find Pierce gross and would never inflict that horror on Britta, but whatever, PIERCE IS A SEXY BEAST and Britta is one hot mess with Daddy issues). Also, I will never, ever get tired of Modern Warfare trailers. Ever.

The 30 Day TV Meme
Day 29 - Current t.v show obsession

Community, obviously, since I've been talking about it through this entire meme.

Day 30 - Saddest character death

Spoiler for Buffy, which I am blacking out since [livejournal.com profile] tinted_glass is currently viewing the show for the first time:

Joyce Summers
, simply because of the way the show handled everyone's grieving process. My god, that episode was harsh, and I'm pretty sure I used up an entire tissue box with that one. Anya's reaction especially got the tears going, because her viewpoint on the death was so much like a child's that it just completely broke down all my defenses (if I had had any left at that point. Dawn's scene made me a complete wreck, too).

And so endeth the TV meme. :'(

The 30 Day Film Meme
Day 13 - A guilty pleasure

Honestly, the majority of my film collection consists of guilty pleasures, but I think I'll go with Green Card, because it's pretty dated and the romantic hero is Gerard Depardieu and the dramatic parts are quite laughable and it's Gerard Depardieu, and yet I get so wrapped up in it that it's just sad:

♥ ♥ ♥

Day 14 - A film that disappointed you

The awfulness of Rush Hour 3 kind of bummed me out, especially since Rush Hour 2 was so hilarious. I think it was just a product of the film coming out almost 10 years after its predecessor. The franchise's bankableness was past its prime, Jackie and Chris weren't as popular as they once were, and they just didn't have the spark that they had had in Rush Hour 1 and 2 (and both looked so much older than they had in Rush Hour 2, and I believe the film took place only a few months later, but I could be wrong. I only watched it twice). Anyway, it was so damn mediocre that I really can't remember a thing about it except for the scene where Jackie and Chris act like a lovesick couple that have just broken up. I don't even want a Rush Hour 4. Usually with Jackie Chan films I can enjoy each and every sequel that he churns out, but... *sigh* There's just no going back to the epicness that was the first two Rush Hours.

Day 15 - Favourite film sequel

Er... Rush Hour 2. *ahem*

Day 16 - Favourite film character

Hmm... you know, I am SO decisive about my favorite TV characters, but with films I'm usually in it for the actors more than anything. Goodness, this is hard. I guess, based purely on my love for the character, the first one that comes to mind is Cal Naughton Jr. from Talladega Nights. IDEK, I just love the dude. How could I not? SHAKE AND BAKE.

You know I am way too into a show when I am angrily growling at my computer screen and pounding my fists on the bed and throwing my pillows. I mean, I get into my shows, but not that much. Oh, Filipino soap operas, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME? I've been watching It Might Be You for the past week or so, and while it had a slow start, OMG am I engrossed in it now. Once Cielo and Lawrence reunited I started moving through it pretty fast, especially since their high school scenes were so super adorable that I just could not stop watching. And of course there was the now expected plot where the poor heroine had to stay away from the rich hero because his mother was threatening to crush her and her family (which... she did anyway, no matter what Cielo did). And of course Cielo and Lawrence's raging hormones were too strong to keep them apart, and of course they were so deliriously happy together that it just freaking ripped my heart apart when Cielo finally gave up because Lawrence chose to support his EVIL EVIL mother instead of her. And of course circumstance led them back to each other after they grew up a little, and of course she ended up in a relationship with Lawrence's sick cousin and Lawrence angsted over this muchly. And of course once they finally got back together (which took FOREVER) there are now many more people scheming against them only this time it involves violence, and of course they basically turn into Romeo and Juliet since their families hate each other, and of course Cielo's father dies in an explosion which everyone blames on Lawrence's mother but I think was actually caused by Cielo's EVIL EVIL uncle but Lawrence's mother was probably in on it too, and of course for awhile there the show made us think that Cielo and Lawrence were actually brother and sister and it was just plain disturbing, but naturally Lawrence's parents aren't actually his parents, so it's all good. Anyway, Cielo and Lawrence break up AGAIN, and Lawrence is devastated AGAIN, but then Lawrence gets arrested for shooting Cielo's uncle (but his mother was actually the shooter) and he gets beat up really bad because Cielo's uncle is the mayor so naturally he can do any damn thing he wants, and Cielo is all "Lawrence..." and stroking his face and they are so angstily beautiful, and then he escapes, and then she escapes her EVIL EVIL uncle and they end up back in the barrio where he had originally asked her to marry him and they reaffirm their love and it's so sweet and the villagers end up marrying them without them realizing it, but of course Cielo goes back to the city because a baby was sick and she took it to the hospital, and of course her mother just happened to be sick and so Cielo stayed, and of course her EVIL EVIL uncle blackmails/forces her into marrying the President's son (by threatening to kill Lawrence), and of course he makes her break Lawrence's heart AGAIN, and then at the wedding she's just like "Sorry," and runs out and goes in search of Lawrence and it's all so sweepingly romantic and when she finds him naturally they are both ridiculously weepy and pouring their hearts out to each other and promising to marry each other for the third time, but of course Cielo's EVIL EVIL uncle finds them and he has the bodyguards beat Lawrence to a pulp until Cielo promises to marry Axel but Lawrence is screaming "NO! NOOOO!" (or, you know, the Filipino equivalent to that), and so she goes back and is in the process of marrying Axel when Lawrence bursts through the door and he is ever so dramatically screaming his love for her and begging her not to marry Axel and it is PAINFUL and BEAUTIFUL and DAMN IT, CIELO, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO HIM? HOW? ARRRRGH. It's not like her uncle could kill Lawrence in front of all those people. The least she could have done was run to him and hug him one last time and apologized but explained that it was for his own good, but no she had to go and break his heart YET AGAIN directly after getting his hopes up. GODDAMMIT, CIELO! So, er, it was time for a break.

Not only that, but they have yet to kiss on the lips and I am well past the midway point. COME THE FREAK ON! Every time they have an intense scene I find myself holding my breath, waiting for the kiss to come, and they get close like it's going to happen, and then... they hug. ARRRRRRRRGH. So damn frustrating. This soap is insane. In a good way though, don't let my rant fool you. Actually, I'm quite shocked at how genuinely good this one and Maging Sino Ka Man are, especially since I ♥ Betty la Fea was so cracky (and, yeah, looking at my recap of the show in the paragraph above, I suppose It Might Be You is pretty cracky, but the difference in quality is astounding).

Since I am frustrated by the lack of kissage in It Might Be You, let's just watch this super hot kiss from Book 2 of Maging Sino Ka Man (which I finished watching last weekend, by the way, and it was awesome, even if the separation frustrated me, because Jackie made a rash decision in the heat of her anger yet again that led to unnecessary heartbreak, but it all ended with Jackie chasing Eli's bus in the same way that he did for her at the end of Book 1, and I am a sucker for symmetry, so it totally got me. But anyway, here's their super hot kiss scene that came right before their divorce was to be finalized):

*is now a puddle of goo*

I should have saved Maging for last, because it is clearly the least innocent out of all their soaps. After being engrossed in that for 2 weeks, it is a bit hard to handle the innocence of Cielo/Lawrence in It Might be You.

WIN. Oh, John Lloyd, I ♥ you forever. Even when you're dancing.

So, I managed to watch In My Life earlier today, and man did it make me cry. I had no idea that it was such a tearjerker, especially since it started out being pretty comical. But anyway, John Lloyd was brilliant. Brilliant! I so, so loved his relationship with Mark's mother, and how he was so darn lovable but she was so darn stubborn and refused to see his lovableness until her heart broke for him when she accidentally caught him crying (no one can resist that boy's tears. NO ONE. I do not lie when I say that John Lloyd's tears are contagious), and then they end up confiding so many things to each other and both grow because of their experiences with each other, and it was both beautiful and heartbreaking, because even though she started to love him, she still resented him and it hurt. As for the Mark/Noel relationship, it was very sweet, but I kind of agree with the reviews that said that John Lloyd and Luis Manzano were a little awkward with each other (or, well, I was feeling the love from John Lloyd, but Luis Manzano took some getting used to, I guess? I don't know, but they were more natural with each other during the emotional moments as opposed to the cute moments). But anyway, the film was definitely successful in showing that Noel loved Mark very deeply, and towards the end of the film you can finally see how much Mark loves Noel, so in the long run the team-up worked, but the heart of this film was definitely the Noel/Shirley relationship, and it was sort of an unconventional love story in its own right. The Mark/Shirley relationship was just plain heartbreaking, gah, that scene in the park where they really talk each other. *cries* Anyway, absolutely brilliant performances from John Lloyd Cruz and Vilma Santos in this film.

The 30 Day TV Meme
Day 27 - Best pilot episode

Hmm... in all honesty, if we're talking a pilot ep that made me 100% like a show right from the get-go, that would be Ugly Betty. It was damn near perfect, and I thought it was selling me a rom-com about a lovable frumpy girl who eventually wins the heart of her playboy boss and achieves her dreams, but, you know, it kind of mislead us simply because Silvio Horta didn't really have a clue what he wanted the show to be beyond ep 13. But the pilot was so, so good, and I'm pretty sure it was the wonderfulness of that pilot that kept me hanging on for so damn long. I trusted its lies, damn it! And that was before I even knew about the previous versions, so I had absolutely no preconceived notions about the show beforehand in regards to the Betty/Daniel romance. But, you know, I thought it was obvious that that's what the show was going to be about. Oh, how wrong I was. *sigh* But anyway, that pilot was lovely.

Runner-up goes to Monk for pretty similar reasons. It was just so delightful and it appealed to me in pretty much every way, and I honestly thought that Monk and Sharona were going to end up together. I just thought it was a certainty the way the pilot ep focused so much on Monk interfering with Sharona's personal life and him saying things to her like "I'll never forget you," in the sweetest voice ever and her looking at him with this sad look and saying, "You never forget anything." It just got me. (sadly, this was another ship that ended up crushing my soul)

Day 28 - First t.v show obsession

Ha! How convenient. That would be Monk, if we're talking first show that got me into fandom. Otherwise, probably either Mork and Mindy or The Nanny. I think I was more obsessed with Robin Williams than Mork and Mindy itself, so I suppose I should just say The Nanny. I looked forward to it so very much every week and I pretty much lived for those little moments between Miss Fine and Mr. Scheffield. Had I known about fandom back then, I would have been writing Fine/Scheffield fanfic up the wazoo. I was madly in love with them, to the point where I even started taping the eps so that I could watch them over and over again (little did I know that UPN would play the show every single day after the series ended, so I even got to rewatch the series at least five times on UPN and relive my excitement. And now it's on Nick at Nite!).

Laural and Hardy's Way Out West.

That's been my favorite since I was 4 years old and to this day I still laugh like a loony whenever I watch it (The Music Box is my favorite short of theirs).

Day 12 - A film that permanently altered your point-of-view

I have no idea. I don't exactly go for deep movies. Uh... The Cove? Which is that documentary about killing dolphins. I'm not sure if it changed my viewpoint on anything, because who the heck would be pro-killing dolphins? But it made me care more than I would have had I not seen the film.

*faints*

Also, I just finished watching One More Chance, this time with subtitles, and good god does it make me weep. Like, seriously, WHY SO HEARTBREAKING? But oh is it good. So, so good. I am so freaking happy that I finally managed to hunt down a download with English subs, because GUH, the dialogue made it even more beautiful/heartbreaking. (I would have bought it on DVD, but even Ebay chose to fail me on this one)

And... now I'm going to watch the film where John Lloyd Cruz has a boyfriend.
