The Tale of Iroh is officially one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life.

I've watched this song at least 5 times now, and I cry harder every time. OH MY GOD. IROH. I wish the entire sequence was on YouTube, because to get the full impact you need to see how utterly wonderful this man is, but even just that little bit is still wicked heartbreaking. He's just so sweet and open and peaceful and ridiculous and aware, and the short showed us all of that, but then it all leads up to this scene that is so beautiful and tragic in its simplicity. I can't get over how successfully this cartoon pulls off Iroh's brokenness in such a subtle way. This was probably the most overt it's been, and GOD was it beautiful. I would certainly rank this with the Carl/Ellie sequence in Up that makes me bawl every time I watch it. Anyway, when the "In honor of Mako" showed up, it hit me that Iroh is probably going to die considering the show went through 2008 and Mako died in 2006. He's going to die, isn't he? And I will probably cry even harder than I did with this scene, won't I? *sigh*

Momo's tale made me cry, too, which is ridiculous, but I never quite realized the depth of his love for Appa until we got that glimpse of his life. The Katara/Toph one also made me tear up a little bit. Oh, Toph. I love her so very much (also... I think I've started shipping her with Sokka? Ack, what is with me and inappropriate ships? But seriously, their banter is epic. I am still in love with Aang/Toph too, though. And Aang/Katara. And Zuko/Katara. And Mai/Zuko. Basically, I went from shipping no one to shipping everyone).

My thoughts on The Big Bang Theory:

Howard is a sexy beast. &hearts And Raj is delicious caramel. The helium joke was lame.

My thoughts on How I Met Your Mother:

Lily/Marshall! &hearts &hearts &hearts Apparently all I need are Lily/Marshall-centric episodes in order for me to enjoy the show. Also, Slapsgiving will never not be awesome.

In other news, a spoiler thread for the Merlin finale on [livejournal.com profile] merlin_tv has many people all up in arms about the lack of Morgana and Gwen screentime and they are saying such hogwash as "Uther and Gaius have replaced them. HOW DARE THEY? No one wants to see them!" and, I can't help it, I want to slap these people. Hard. As much as I miss the girls, they do get a fair amount of episodes dedicated to them, whereas it's a pretty rare thing to get an Uther or Gaius centric episode (this season was generous enough to give us two Uther eps, but only because it was a two-parter, and even in an Uther-centric episode, either Merlin or Arthur still gets the bulk of the story). I'd say that Uther/Gaius and Morgana/Gwen get about an even amount of screentime, and really, Gwen's been in a good amount of the show this season (way more than she got last season). Morgana has been getting shafted compared to last season, but it's not because of Uther or Gaius, it's because the show has been focusing more on Arthur and his backstory and his future with Gwen, and apparently the writers feel the need to leave Morgana out of this. And then this last episode was all about Merlin, Uther was barely in the ep, so don't go blaming him, damn it! Furthermore, for all we know, the writers may intentionally be isolating Morgana from the rest of the core four because they want to illustrate that she feels like she no longer belongs in that world. Aside from all of that, I am willing to bet that Anthony Head and Richard Wilson get the biggest paychecks, and yet they are given the least amount of things to do, so perhaps season 2 just wanted to even out the supporting cast a little more. Morgana and Gwen still get the meatier parts of the story, even if it feels like they are conveniently absent lately (but, again, Uther and Gaius almost always have those throwaway scenes in about 70% of the episodes, so, no, they are not taking screentime away from the girls). The main difference in this season from the last one is that the core 4 no longer do things together, hence the feeling of Gwen and Morgana being shafted. But anyway, DO NOT TALK SMACK ABOUT MY UTHER, YOU... YOU... JERKS! *hmph* Christ on a cracker, I am thankful and joyous when the show blesses me with two tiny Uther scenes. I don't even know what I'll do once he's killed off. Probably weep into my pillows and refuse to watch the show ever again.

Ooooooh how I loved Big Bang Theory tonight. In fact, I am loving this entire season quite a lot for one reason and one reason only. HOWARD/RAJ. Never has the show focused so much on their marriedness as they have this season, not even the "ersatz homosexuals" episode. Oh man, the ep where Howard was completely lost while Sheldon took up all of Raj's time with work was a beautiful demonstration of their epic manlove, but this ep? Oh dear lord, I LOVE IT WHEN RAJ GETS JEALOUS. "You leave me the second something prettier comes along!" And pretty much every moment when Howard was turning on his charm to win back Raj's heart was made of win. And the end! Oh, they are so adorable.

Also, Sheldon was so classically Sheldon in this episode. I ♥ him kind of a lot. And he got to verbally spar with Penny a little bit, so I think that's why he felt extra-Sheldony good tonight. As for Leonard, I actually felt bad for him in this ep, which pretty much happens anytime he faces Penny's friends. I know he's whiny, I know he's socially awkward, but... he tries! He tries so hard, and he fails so hard. I'm still not digging Leonard/Penny as a couple, but I think this ep was one of their better eps (probably because Penny got to be the condescending one for once).

HIMYM was also pretty good tonight.

In other news, Sir Leon is really dreamy.

I know that this isn't exactly news, but, seriously, he's really dreamy with the rolled up sleeves and the slightly lispy accent. ♥

Do you know who else is dreamy?

ANTHONY HEAD )

I love how SERIOUS Tony and Bradley are when debating about the color blue. They are downright menacing as they look to Colin to solve their quandary.

"Have you seen teal?"
"Well you've obviously never seen blue if you think that's it!"

Heeeeeee. I love them.

PS

Had to link to the epic badass Uther montage:

Blink and you'll miss ASH. )

I forgot to mention that I've gone and bought a Buffy doll to accompany my lonely Giles doll (and I managed to nab this one from ebay, which was selling for a significantly lower price than the one on Sideshow Collectibles, which was sold out anyway, so I had to resort to ebay no matter what). Anyway, I expect that the second it arrives I will smoosh Buffy and Giles together and make kissy noises.

So, it's official. I'm in love with Howard. Mad, mad love. Like, he just keeps getting more and more sexually appealing with each episode. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? But seriously, he was irresistibly adorable in this ep, so much so that my eyes instantly went to him instead of Sheldon in every single scene. IT IS INSANITY. But I love him. A lot. And this episode made me wish that all episodes could just feature Raj, Howard, and Sheldon looking for a cricket all night. OH GOD, OT3 OF EPIC AWESOME RIGHT THERE. I love it when Howard and Sheldon butt heads. It is sad how inconsequential Leonard and Penny are when separated from the boys. Anywho, in short, I really, really loved The Big Bang Theory tonight.

HIMYM was also pretty hilarious. Marshall and Lily continue to rock my world. OH GOD, MARSHALL'S FANTASY! Bwahahahaha. Oh, I love them.

Okay, you know Ugly Betty is in trouble when TWoP completely wipes its existence from their forums. See, even TWoP knows that Ugly Betty is made of epic FAIL for not going the Daniel/Betty route. Or even the Henry/Betty route, for pete's sake. You all know I hated Henry/Betty with a passion, but oooooh do I miss them now. That's how much I despise Ugly Betty right now. I swear, any love I had for that show is just being ripped away from me with every single spoiler news/clip/whatever. UGH! THIS SHOW! Remember in season 1 how it was such a media darling, how everyone said it was so lovely and refreshing and just what our TV lineup needed? Yeah. I miss when the show used to inspire that. Now everyone just seems embarrassed for praising the show in the first place. Ugh. This show used to be MY show. I even gave up The Office for it during season 1, that's how much I loved this show. NEVER AGAIN! *huff* Of course, when I say I "gave up" The Office, I just mean that I had to download it the next day instead of watching it as it aired. But that's a big deal. I never miss The Office. Except for during season 1 of Ugly Betty, because Ugly Betty was that awesome. Oh, I miss season 1 like whoa. It had such promise! Such epic Daniel/Betty potential! *sigh*

So, last night I chose the CBS comedies in favor of House, even though House was clearly doing an homage to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which is one of the awesomest movies of all time, so I will definitely have to catch it on Hulu. But anyway, How I Met Your Mother was so, so, so very wonderful. TED! Oh Ted, I can't believe there was ever a time when I didn't love him with my entire soul. He was definitely the highlight of the episode for me (although Marshall with his whip was pretty hilarious). Loved the Barney/Robin, too. I love this show for getting almost everything so very right. It is wonderful, and I was ridiculous for turning my nose up at it for so long. Seriously. Also, I watched that new show, Accidentally on Purpose, and it was surprisingly adorable. Not very laugh out loud funny, but... I think it has potential? Maybe? The music is good, at least it's got that going for it. But you can tell with the way it was filmed and their use of music that they were going for a HIMYM feel, and it's just... not right. But as the episode went on it actually got pretty charming, so I'll probably keep watching. Plus, it's got Ashley Jensen (Christina from Ugly Betty, Maggie from Extras) and I would have turned the channel had I not seen her, so I'm glad that even though the starting seemed corny and so not what I'd like, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it by the end. Still can't stand Two and a Half Men, ugh. Big Bang Theory was pretty hilarious, especially Raj and Howard. OH GOD, HOWARD! Is it bad that I was totally turned on by him in the red cowboy hat? Probably, but... oh god, it was sexy in his weird way. Apparently all it takes to make me want to do a guy is a cowboy hat. But anyway, this episode just made me ship Raj/Howard in a more serious manner. Oh, those two. I love them. And Sheldon was awesome as always. The Penny/Leonard stuff is still the weakest part of the show, unfortunately. I much prefer the group dynamics when they all are just friends, and Penny is the unattainable hot girl that Leonard has given up on. Why did they have to bring romance back into it? Ugh. This show is pretty awful at romance. But anyway, I enjoyed the episode as a whole. But How I Met Your Mother was definitely the MVP of the CBS comedies last night.

So, dilemma. Modern Family is going to be coming on at the same time as Glee. WHAT IS A GIRL TO DO? I saw the Modern Family pilot on the internet a few weeks ago, and it was freaking BRILLIANT. So absolutely hilarious and kind of a whole lot better than Glee. But Glee brings me such joy! And if I don't watch Glee as it airs, I will probably never keep up with it, whereas I will probably faithfully watch Modern Family any way I can. But... but... Modern Family! I love it. I don't know. Since I already saw the first ep, I don't have to choose between the two this week, but next week... I just don't know. Bahumbug! Why do the stations insist on putting all the good shows on at the same time? WHY? I watch nothing in the 8-9 timeslot on Wednesdays.

I feel weird for not having any Anthony Head news, other than the fact that I'm pretty sure he was chewing gum during this radio interview. Ahahahaha, he's such a classy fellow, that Anthony Head. I love him.
