FANDOM TENNIS MATCH MEME:
Okay, here's how this is going to work. You comment with a fandom question. I answer it and then ask you a question that has some thematic relevance to the question you asked me.

I don't usually get that crazy about my slash ships, because American TV just doesn't go there with characters who have already been established as straight, but Andy's homosexual tendencies just kept happening more and more frequently, and Oscar/Andy was being so beautifully built up (in my head, apparently), and they just make so much sense in their own odd way. They could have been something wonderful.
3. Howard/Raj from Big Bang Theory. The show used to go out of its way to say that they were each other's substitutes for romantic relationships, they've kissed (by accident), they've woken up holding each other, they do absolutely everything together, other characters have pointed out how married they are, and they are just another one of those best friend ships that feel so canonically romantic, but the show has to shoehorn in a girlfriend for the less feminine of the two to remind us that they totally aren't gay, even though they get all of their emotional fulfillment from each other.
4. Michael/Dwight, because I had shipped them so hard for so long that I just wanted them to admit their love for each other and live happily ever after. Dwight did anything for Michael, and he just loved Michael SO MUCH and longed for his appreciation and respect more than anything, and Michael longed for companionship and understanding, which he had in Dwight all along but never wanted from him, and it was just really dysfunctional and heartbreaking but so damn beautiful whenever Michael decided to love Dwight back. So, yeah, my version of a happy ending for Michael was him retiring with Dwight and moving to the beet farm and helping Dwight turn it into a successful bed and breakfast, and they would wear matching overalls and straw hats and they'd throw an arm over each other's shoulders as they stand there with big grins on their faces while they drank beet juice together.
5. Chazz/Jimmy from Blades of Glory, because we all know that that was actually a love story between them and it would have been so much better had the movie just gone with that instead of throwing in the lady love interest that adds nothing to the story.
Note that my favorite slash ship of all time is Alan/Denny from Boston Legal, but I think the show made that as canon as it possibly could with having them marry each other, so, I was completely satisfied there.
Question for you: Five popular slash ships that you just can't ship?

Date: 2011-10-21 05:25 am (UTC)I read that exact remark about Oscar and Andy over and over, so many places! And, okay, I guess they're all Oscar/Andy shippin' places, but. WHY DID THE SHOW NOT GO THERE. I am just going to spend season eight believing that they are forever on the brink of falling in love. :D
Merlin and Arthur -- SO VERY TRUE, especially what with that ending scene of 4x03, and the fact that the whole show reads so strongly as a gay allegory that I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO DO sometimes. Especially after that last episode. Seriously. It is like the male Xena.

THAT is perhaps the most adorable thing I have ever envisioned! :D
