Because I knew you...

I have a feeling that
jesshelga is the only one who will appreciate this, but as I was flipping through the channels, I happened upon the New York ep of Glee at the exact moment that Kurt and Rachel are singing "For Good" and... well, I couldn't help but imagine a future episode (like, just before they graduate, maybe?) where Kurt is singing this song with Karofsky. And they are both tearing up and looking at each other lovingly, and in their eyes you can see them thinking about all the things that could have been and all the things that should have been and all the things that were. And they still have this kind of continuing UST thing but never actually got together, just... they had a lot of almosts that they were both too afraid to explore. WHAT IS THIS? WHEN DID I START SHIPPING THEM LIKE THIS? I think I've been brainwashed. But here, watch this video and superimpose Kurt and Karofsky's faces over these dudes in your head, and you'll totally see what I mean. Really. You will.

Date: 2011-09-14 02:35 am (UTC)It breaks so many of my "dislikes" so to speak. A couple of things I usually hate are:
a) Teen relationships
b) Gay relationships that begin where one of the duo is closeted.
So Kurtofsky would be a no go, wouldn't it? Oh but no. I think Max's performance right after the kiss in the locker room really got to me. I didn't know he was that good. Ever since then I've tried to pretend I'm not on the ship but I find I am on the ship.
I hate Glee. I had to give it up half way through this last season. But it was hard because Kurt/Dave scenes feel like they're from a different show. There's just so much "there" there. They almost make watching worth it. The actors have great chem and they add such incredible nuance to their scenes. Klaine is just so boring and straight forward. I know I should be cheering for this healthy depiction of a gay relationship, and in theory I do even if I can't in practice, but Kurt/Dave are fascinating.

Date: 2011-09-14 12:59 pm (UTC)The limited experience I have had is that some Klaine shippers are offended by the idea that people could think Kurt/Dave is a far more interesting duo to ship. The have the massive fan base and the producers love the couple but for some reason the fact that this little niche of fandom exists is appalling.
And it is a niche fandom. In numbers, it doesn't even come close to Klaine and most realize that Glee probably just isn't 'that kind of show' that would follow such a story.
But like I said, that's only a section of the Klaine fan base. And I'm sure Dave/Kurt fans like to get into it. I just really haven't seen it. It's not a fan base war like Rachel, Puck and Finn was a fan base war. I think Dave/Kurt is similar to Will/Rachel. Most fans just ignore them.
