I have a feeling that [livejournal.com profile] jesshelga is the only one who will appreciate this, but as I was flipping through the channels, I happened upon the New York ep of Glee at the exact moment that Kurt and Rachel are singing "For Good" and... well, I couldn't help but imagine a future episode (like, just before they graduate, maybe?) where Kurt is singing this song with Karofsky. And they are both tearing up and looking at each other lovingly, and in their eyes you can see them thinking about all the things that could have been and all the things that should have been and all the things that were. And they still have this kind of continuing UST thing but never actually got together, just... they had a lot of almosts that they were both too afraid to explore. WHAT IS THIS? WHEN DID I START SHIPPING THEM LIKE THIS? I think I've been brainwashed. But here, watch this video and superimpose Kurt and Karofsky's faces over these dudes in your head, and you'll totally see what I mean. Really. You will.

Ha! Yeah, it's upsetting when you realize that you genuinely 'ship the two of them, rather than as a fic/fandom lark, isn't it?

It is. It really is, especially when I know that Kurt/Blaine is the flawless, epic ship in the show's (and fandom's) eyes. But ugh, Blaine is so disgustingly perfect that it's hard to have any emotions toward him whatsoever. I can't even hate him! But oooooh, Kurt/Karofsky. So much potential for development and intriguing storytelling for both characters. And, you know, I'm not against keeping Kurt/Blaine around, as long as Kurt wavers a little bit as he starts getting closer to Karofsky. He can be tempted with dysfunction and realize that his blissful relationship with Blaine is better, I don't mind. Really! Just... give me some Kurt/Karofsky.

Oh I appreciate it too, FG. I appreciate it too.

It breaks so many of my "dislikes" so to speak. A couple of things I usually hate are:

a) Teen relationships
b) Gay relationships that begin where one of the duo is closeted.

So Kurtofsky would be a no go, wouldn't it? Oh but no. I think Max's performance right after the kiss in the locker room really got to me. I didn't know he was that good. Ever since then I've tried to pretend I'm not on the ship but I find I am on the ship.

I hate Glee. I had to give it up half way through this last season. But it was hard because Kurt/Dave scenes feel like they're from a different show. There's just so much "there" there. They almost make watching worth it. The actors have great chem and they add such incredible nuance to their scenes. Klaine is just so boring and straight forward. I know I should be cheering for this healthy depiction of a gay relationship, and in theory I do even if I can't in practice, but Kurt/Dave are fascinating.

YES. Yes to all of this. Kurt/Karofsky is messed up and usually everything I hate about a ship, but I just can't stop being intrigued by it. It's definitely the chemistry between the actors, and the way the show has set up Karofsky with the potential to change and redeem himself if the show actually bothered to take time to develop his character.

I'm pretty neutral about Kurt/Karofsky and Klaine, but I have to ask...is there a shipping war going on between the two right now? I'm just wondering because I noticed that on my f-list, another entry popped up right before yours where the person posted an anti-Kurt/Karofsky message. (This person is very pro-Klaine.) So, when I saw your post, I thought, "Whoa, what are the odds of this happening? Two entries from opposite ends of the fandom spectrum showing up within minutes of each other!" I rarely see that on my f-list, so I'm curious if there's a new shipping war going on(?). o_O

Ha, you know, I have no idea. I try to stay away from the Glee fandom (I do keep my eye on Will/Rachel stuff, but that is just a tiny, tiny corner of the fandom). I do know that Klaines are very anti-Kurt/Karofsky, which I get, because it is a relationship of dysfunction and it started from a place of abuse. So I totally get the strong negative reaction to the ship, it's just that I find the Kurt/Karofsky dynamic far more entertaining.

I don't know if there is a fan war, per se. Like FG, I avoid the general Glee fandom like the plague. I sometimes will check out Will/Rachel LJ or the Kurt/Dave LJ but that's rather insular.

The limited experience I have had is that some Klaine shippers are offended by the idea that people could think Kurt/Dave is a far more interesting duo to ship. The have the massive fan base and the producers love the couple but for some reason the fact that this little niche of fandom exists is appalling.

And it is a niche fandom. In numbers, it doesn't even come close to Klaine and most realize that Glee probably just isn't 'that kind of show' that would follow such a story.

But like I said, that's only a section of the Klaine fan base. And I'm sure Dave/Kurt fans like to get into it. I just really haven't seen it. It's not a fan base war like Rachel, Puck and Finn was a fan base war. I think Dave/Kurt is similar to Will/Rachel. Most fans just ignore them.

I've been hardcore shipping Kurtofsky for a while now and I kind of hate myself for it because I know I'm setting myself up for disappointment. There is so much potential for their characters together. It doesn't even have to be romantic, the PFLAG stuff could be awesome for their friendship. Of course it wont happen. They'll forget that stipulation of Kurt returning even existed. I'm so disgusted that Blaine is most likely going to be transferring especially when they've filmed 5 episodes and Max is in NONE of them.

RAGE!
