Date: 2010-03-03 07:08 am (UTC)I don't think the FEW EPISODES the show has given us so far will make answering some of these questions easy for you. But I know you. Always up for a meme challenge. :>

Date: 2010-03-03 10:35 pm (UTC)1. When I started shipping them
THE SECOND THEY SPOKE TO EACH OTHER. I am lame and predictable, but Winston was all flummoxed and curmudgeonly and Guerrero was all laid back and amused and I just couldn't resist.
2. What I think their challenge is
Bwahahaha, them.
3. What makes me happy about them
THEIR BANTERY EPICNESS. I cannot believe how hard they make me smile. I get excited every time I know they're going to interact. It is quite SAD how much they totally own me. OMG, the conversation about an Aunt Linda vs an Uncle Dan? AMAZING. And I loved that in the end Winston called it what Guerrero called it, and he was so fiercely convinced of Guerrero's rightness while he was telling Chance about it, and then Chance is like, "No, calling in the cavalry is an Aunt Linda, I don't even know who Uncle Dan is. Did you talk to Guerrero about this?" Cue Winston's glare. Ahahahaha, oh, I love it.
4. What makes me sad about them
NOTHING! THEY ARE MY HAPPY-MAKING SHIP! Even when Guerrero was totally ignoring his calls in Sanctuary, I still found them delightful. More arguing = more hilarity.
5. What moment I wish had never happened
I LOVE IT ALL.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Guerrero/Chance, Winston/Me!
7. My happily ever after for them
They retire and live together forever in begrudgingly loving bantery bliss!

Date: 2010-03-04 12:56 am (UTC)And that you'd be comfortable with Guerrero ending up with Chance, if not with Winston? You clearly know the way to my heart.
BY THE WAY, you might find some of these appealing.

If the other half of a Chance pairing doesn't live up to some societal beauty standard, WHAT POINT IS THERE IN SHIPPING IT? And what point is there in shipping a pairing where the ruggedly good looking man ISN'T EVEN INVOLVED?
Oh fandom. Sigh.
Just a little tip...
Date: 2010-03-04 04:06 am (UTC)And dude, if Mark Valley's rugged handsomeness could not bring the fandom for Alan/Brad on Boston Legal, I have a feeling it won't work for Human Target either. HOW SAD. And Boston Legal was the slashiest show that ever did slash, but the main characters were 45 and 75 and, according to

Date: 2010-03-04 06:24 am (UTC)Really? No Alan/Brad fandom? At all? Cry. Although now that you bring up slashing Mark Valley's character with Alan, I AM CURIOUS, would you have read any of the fic? Aka how was the chemistry between them on screen and should I possibly seek out these episodes? :> (I think I have already watched all the epic Alan/Denny eps per your recommendation. LOVE, by the way.)

But well, I'd have to see it to give you my final assessment... hee.

Date: 2010-03-03 07:09 am (UTC)(no subject)
Date: 2010-03-03 10:17 pm (UTC)Their very first interaction! They were just so undeniably flirty and drawn to each other that I couldn't not ship it. It was like everyone else around them disappeared and it was just them being intense and man-handley.
2. What I think their challenge is
Well, they are both dudes who are into women, so, that poses a problem, but their love is epic and romantic in its own way and it could easily surpass any love that they've had for the ladies (and in fact it did in season 1, but then season 2 went and messed all of that up). Other than that, there's the whole servant/master issue, and the magic issue. Their entire relationship was founded on Arthur being able to trust Merlin more than he can trust anyone else, and the fact that Merlin is hiding such a huge part of himself from Arthur is killing him, and it's probably part of the reason why they were quite distant during season 2.
3. What makes me happy about them
THEIR BANTERY GOODNESS! It is adorable. The way they constantly risk their lives to save each other. The way neither one can really find the words to express how much they care for each other. The way they believe in each other so fully (again, some of this was messed up by season 2. Season 2 really did a number on the Merlin/Arthur relationship).
4. What makes me sad about them
The fact that Arthur has trouble respecting Merlin. They seemed to have gotten over this issue during season 1, but then all that disappeared come season 2, and it was never really explained.
5. What moment I wish had never happened
Arthur choosing the bird dude over Merlin in 2x01. Not cool. Arthur treating Gwen with respect after one day but still treating Merlin like dirt after a year and a half. Also, Merlin being willing to abandon Arthur without a moment's thought so that he could run away with Freya.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Arthur/Lancelot (come on, it's totally canon), Merlin/Nimueh (er... even though she's dead)
7. My happily ever after for them
They carry on a secret, loving relationship while Gwen and Lancelot do the same and everyone's happy (sort of).

(no subject)
Date: 2010-03-03 10:00 pm (UTC)1. When I started shipping them
THE SHOWER SCENE. You know the one. But perhaps I didn't start thinking they'd be endgame until The Walk in Powerless.
2. What I think their challenge is
Trust. Opening themselves up completely to someone else. Not letting each other fall back into darkness.
3. What makes me happy about them
The way that their relationship represents peace for both of them. They are each other's safe place. They accept each other with no questions asked. They argue with each other in such a loving way. They get each other to open up about things that they need to open up about. They are loyal to each other without fault. They are beautiful.
4. What makes me sad about them
That they almost couldn't trust each other during season 2 and it damn near tore them apart.
5. What moment I wish had never happened
Honestly, I just wish season 2 had been better quality-wise. Ship-wise, I actually thought that Crews and Reese fared pretty well, although I hated that they were separated for quite awhile.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Reese/Tidwell, I guess? And Charlie/Bobby. (oh yes, I totally went there)
7. My happily ever after for them
Oh, man, I pretty much got that from the show. Those smiles! The music! The sun! It was so, so beautiful. Basically, in my mind, after that ending shot, they just got together. They realized what they needed, what they wanted, and it just happens naturally. Clearly things would be messy with Tidwell, but for some reason I feel like he knew things were coming to an end with him and Reese.

Date: 2010-03-03 09:34 pm (UTC)Hmm, you know, I was intrigued by them in the second ep when Lassiter was talking to the press and she whispered something to him and there's this weird, slightly USTy pause between them and he says, "Thanks," very genuinely (and kind of cockily), which meant that he completely misinterpreted whatever it was that Juliet had said to him. But I don't think they really pinged my ship-o-meter until they were on a stakeout and were arguing about/competing with each other over penal codes and Juliet bursts out with something like "I don't do interoffice romance!" HELLO, SUBTEXT, NICE TO SEE YOU.
2. What I think their challenge is
Juliet seeing Lassiter as anything but her partner. I think it's been well established that Lassie has quite the crush on Juliet, no matter how much seasons 3 and 4 try to act like it never happened, but Juliet has only really ever been shown to be flattered by the attention, even actively seeking it out, but she's never really seemed to entertain the thought of him being anything more than a friend at most (and even that is questionable since Lassiter makes it hard for her to be friendly with him). Also, Juliet needs to get over Shawn and Lassiter needs to realize that not all love leads to depression.
3. What makes me happy about them
They are so super adorable! I love their adorableness. I love the way that their personality traits compliment each other in just the right way. I love how they constantly try to impress each other, and how they impress each other most when they're not even trying. I love how their version of flirting is through competition or reciting penal codes at each other. I love that Juliet has called Lassiter "Carlton" from very near the beginning but he won't let himself call her "Juliet." I love how even though Lassiter is Juliet's superior, Juliet is very much the one in charge when it comes to their relationship. Lassiter will do absolutely anything she tells him to if he knows she means business, and it's mostly because he genuinely likes her. He wants her approval, so he will do anything to get it. She's his only real friend and he's finally gotten to the point where he's happy to say that she's his friend. Aside from all of that? They just click, intellectually, physically, professionally, they click. They both get turned on by the same things, and they both know how to push each other's buttons. I LOVE THEM.
4. What makes me sad about them
That the show is stuck on this Shawn/Juliet nonsense. UGH. Open your eyes, Juliet! Lassiter is your man!
5. What moment I wish had never happened
I wish Shawn and Juliet had never gotten serious about each other.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Lassiter/Shawn, Juliet/Gus, I suppose.
7. My happily ever after for them
Juliet breaks up with Shawn (because you know they'll be dating soon), and Lassiter helps her cope with the breakup. They become closer than ever, then Juliet starts dating again and realizes that she's comparing everyone to Lassiter, and this freaks her out a little so she distances herself from him, and he's hurt because he doesn't understand what's happening and then he gets angry and pulls her into a closet and starts yelling at her and he unintentionally says something sweet and Juliet just yanks him down and kisses the heck out of him, and they end up dating secretly, or they try to but then Shawn figures it out and he's all angsty and petty about it for awhile, but then he sees how genuinely happy they are together and he deals with it, and eventually Lassiter and Juliet get married and Shawn pesters Lassiter to make him his best man and he finally relents and Gus is all depressed because he's just an usher and Chief Vick is Juliet's maid of honor and a mysterious death happens that interrupts the wedding and for once Lassiter and Juliet solve the mystery before Shawn and Gus did, only they didn't, not really, and that was Shawn and Gus's wedding present to them, and then Lassiter and Juliet get married for real in their tattered tuxedo and wedding dress and it's the most adorable thing ever and they smile as they kiss and OMG WHY CAN'T THIS HAPPEN, SHOW? WHY?
(no subject)
Date: 2010-03-03 03:27 pm (UTC)Oh, screw it. Uther/Morgana.
(no subject)
Date: 2010-03-03 08:09 pm (UTC)Okay, I was intrigued by them from their first interaction (I actually thought they were married until Uther called himself her guardian. Whoops!) but I didn't let myself admit that I shipped them until 1x07. And then 1x08 was when they surpassed Arthur/Merlin for OTPdom.
2. What I think their challenge is
HAHAHAHAHA, um, EVERYTHING. Well, the most obvious is the father/daughter connotations of their relationship, but honestly, I don't think that would stop them too much? Like, it would give them pause, definitely, Uther more than Morgana, but in the heat of the moment, I don't think it would bother them too much. Aside from that, they tend to be polar opposites on every single issue, but again, this just seems to fuel the passion fire between them. So, the main thing, the #1 obstacle that keeps getting in their way is that Morgana is not convinced of Uther's love for her. She thinks he hates magic more than he loves her, and he hasn't really given her much evidence to prove otherwise. But he does love her, and he is willing to give so much of himself to her, but she constantly fails to see this.
3. What makes me happy about them
EVERYTHING. The way everything about them is a contradiction, the way every single one of their interactions have so much emotion boiling underneath the surface, the way so many of their interactions end up in an explosion of emotion, the way their love is always present even when they are ripping each other apart, their intensity, the excitement of the unknown. My heart is always beating like crazy during their scenes, because you just never know what's going to set them off, you never know if this will be the moment when Uther finds out about her magic, you never know if this will be the moment when Morgana leaves Uther once and for all, and you're never quite sure what Uther's reaction will be when he actually does find out about her magic. That question of whether he hates magic more than he loves Morgana is always lingering in the back of my mind, and would he forget how much he loves her? Would he be able to bring himself to kill her? Would he just let her go and die a little inside, hating himself for letting love get in the way of duty? WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN?
4. What makes me sad about them
It kills me that Morgana doesn't realize how much Uther loves her. Not that I blame her, because, again, Uther doesn't give her a whole lot of evidence of his undying love since he fails at such things, but it is there.
5. What moment I wish had never happened
Morgana dumping him for Alvarr. UGH UGH UGH. Of all the things to dump Uther over, she chose Alvarr? Seriously? Seriously, Morgana? That loser? UGH. I hate that the show made it look like a teenage temper tantrum over a boy, instead of a badass breakup over the fact that Uther has been trying to commit genocide for that past 20 years.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Uther/Troll, Morgana/Gwen.
7. My happily ever after for them
I DON'T THINK ONE EVEN EXISTS IN MY HEAD! It's so sad! My happy ending for them is that at the very moment that Morgana kills him, she sees the love and understanding in his eyes and she is in shock for a moment, and then she breaks down crying, holding his limp body. I AM SO MORBID.

Date: 2010-03-03 03:38 pm (UTC)(Also I didnt get to comment the other day, i'm so glad you got into avatar! It really is such an excellent well done animated show, and it proves that just because your target demographic is children doesnt mean you cant write something of excellent quality, and indeed avatar is a show that has a fanbase that is all over the age, gender and race spectrum. which is what makes the whitewashing of the film so much more horrible -_- but I will spare you that rant. I will say however that I am still left vaguely unsatisfied because I so very much wanted Zuko to find his mom and see what happened to Azula!)

Date: 2010-03-03 07:34 pm (UTC)Jack/Liz!
1. When I started shipping them
In all honesty, I spent the longest time avoiding 30 Rock because I was stupid, but the commercials made me think there was a thing between Jack and Liz and that intrigued me, and when I got fed up with Grey's Anatomy, I flipped to NBC and watched ep 1x19 - Corporate Crush, and I fell in mad, mad love with Jack/Liz and the show in general. I mean, I know it was a Liz/Floyd episode, so I probably should have been shipping them instead, but OMG did Jack come off as a lovesick puppy who was trying to separate Floyd and Liz. I promptly got my hands on all the eps that led up to that one that weekend and became utterly obsessed with the ship.
2. What I think their challenge is
Transitioning from friends to lovers. They know everything about each other, and they are so comfortable with each other that they don't really see each other as sexual prospects. They are not each other's type, only, you know, they totally are and just don't know it yet.
3. What makes me happy about them
Their adorableness! The fact that they will do anything for each other. They will drop everything they're doing and rush to each other if they have to. Everything they want in a life partner? They can find it in each other, and the reason they keep failing with other people is because they just don't fit with them as easily as they fit with each other. They will always come back to each other. Always.
4. What makes me sad about them
That the show refuses to see the romantic potential that they hold, despite the fact that the show ship teases the crap out of us. EVERYTHING on this show points to how well Jack and Liz fit together, and yet the show insists that they will never see each other as more than friends. But they go on dinner dates with each other, they point out each other's most attractive features, Liz gets flustered when he compliments her, both admit that they can't live without each other, both are overly involved in each other's love lives, and both want the same things out of life. HOW ON EARTH DOES THE SHOW FAIL TO SEE HOW PERFECT IT'S MADE THEM FOR EACH OTHER?
5. What moment I wish had never happened
Pretty much the entirety of the episode where they were fighting over Danny. If this had been a past season, it would have been all about Jack's jealousy over Liz focusing her attention on someone else in her life, but instead it was about Danny. I just wasn't feeling the Jack/Liz love there, and the mustache bit was just annoying. LIZ IS NOT GROSS, SHOW. STOP IT. LIZ IS BEAUTIFUL.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Liz/Dennis (because I have a weird fondness for Dennis), Jack/CC
7. My happily ever after for them
Honestly? In the show, I kind of just want them to walk off together arm in arm as the screen goes black and they're lovingly teasing each other. That is my fantasy ending for them. But beyond that, they realize how much they love each other and decide to give that dating thing a shot and it just works for them because nothing really changed between them except that now they've seen each other naked, and then they get married and Liz finally has that baby that she's been wanting and Jack is a super awesome father and he buys the baby a business suit one-piece and Liz just gives him that affectionate, crooked smile of hers and kisses him on the cheek and OMG, WHY AREN'T THEY MARRIED RIGHT NOW?

Date: 2010-03-03 06:59 pm (UTC)Oh man, I can't even remember! I think it was the pilot, that moment on the stands when he went to talk to her and he put his hand on her shoulder. Something in that scene just clicked for me.
2. What I think their challenge is
The teacher/student thing, mainly. If Rachel was a teacher, or if Will was a student, I think they'd already be having mad hot sex together by now.
3. What makes me happy about them
That they just get each other. Will's her #1 fan, but he's also not afraid to teach her about the values of teamwork. Rachel admires the heck out of him, but she's also the first to call him out on his crap. She supports him just as much as he supports her. They help each other to be better people without even really trying. It just happens, and it's beautiful.
4. What makes me sad about them
That the show will never allow them to be together. *sniff*
5. What moment I wish had never happened
Will kissing Emma. YEAH, I SAID IT.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Will/Terri, Rachel/Finn
7. My happily ever after for them
Will quietly follows Rachel's singing career all through college, and he thinks she doesn't know, but she totally does, and at her very last college performance, she thanks Will for believing in her, and he cries, and they reconnect after the show and fall in mad love and have babies and Will continues teaching Glee and Rachel teaches Drama and they put on shows together at the community theater every now and then and they are just sickeningly happy together.

Date: 2010-03-03 07:15 pm (UTC)Damnit.
Also, we seem to like them for the same reasons. I've recently discovered my shipping pattern is basically older guy/younger girl, fuck it, I started thinking "NOT REALLY! It just happens that you like chemistry" then I started counting my ships and half of them follow the pattern lol (except for Troy/Britta, which is the opposite, and strangely attractive and wrong and adorable)
I'VE JUST SEEN YOU HAVE A KELLY/ANDY SHIP TAG.
HOLY CRAP. I SECRETLY SHIP IT. AND ANDY/MICHAEL.
(no subject)
Date: 2010-03-03 07:44 pm (UTC)ANDY/KELLY!!! Oh man, in the summer of 2007, I was all about the Kandy. They rocked my world. And Michael/Andy! Hee. I'm pretty sure I can ship Andy with anyone (though, oddly, I can't find the passion to ship him with Erin. At all. They are lacking in the chemistry department. Erin/Michael, however, now they've got awesome chemistry. And there I go again with the age gap ship!)

Date: 2010-03-03 04:16 pm (UTC)(no subject)
Date: 2010-03-03 06:44 pm (UTC)Pretty much from their first interaction, actually! Well, it was just an inkling, but then Giles cut her off with his arm in the hall and I got all hot and bothered, and then he did that standing behind her thing in The Bronze and I came to terms with the fact that I was a goner. There was so much manhandling in the pilot! It was awesome. But I don't think I was serious about shipping them until The Dark Age (though I nearly died when they shared that smile and he grabbed her elbow to walk her out in Reptile Boy).
2. What I think their challenge is
Oh god, where to start? Boundary issues. They're always afraid of crossing the wrong boundaries. Abandonment issues. Buffy is convinced that if she loves Giles too much, he'll leave her (which he did, sadly). Giles is afraid to love her too much because he fears that she'll never love him in the same way, and he thinks he shouldn't love her too much, because [in his mind] it hinders his ability to be an exceptional watcher. On top of that, they don't really know how to just be them anymore. So much has gone down between them that they need to talk about and work through, but neither of them is very good at doing this. Aside from all of that? Age insecurities. So, there's a lot to work through there.
3. What makes me happy about them
Oh gosh, everything. Even their angsty moments of stupidity. But I think what I love most is that they just accept each other as they are. Yeah, they have their issues, but they really wouldn't change a thing about each other.
4. What makes me sad about them
The fact they both deem themselves unworthy of each other. :'(
5. What moment I wish had never happened
Giles leaving. He was supposed to be the one man in Buffy's life that could take everything, that would be there through thick and thin and just love her for all that she is. He was supposed to be there for her when she needed him most, but he wasn't, and that killed me a little.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Buffy/Angel, Giles/Me.
7. My happily ever after for them
Buffy goes to England with Giles to set up the new council and they slowly build a new relationship that eventually turns into a romance and they have three beautiful babies and the whole gang lives to a ripe old age and are there for each other forever and always.

Date: 2010-03-03 07:12 pm (UTC)RON/LESLIE.
(no subject)
Date: 2010-03-03 10:53 pm (UTC)FROM THE PILOT. I don't even remember why, I just did. I'm pretty sure it was when Leslie kept pestering about the pit and he got all flustered and finally relented, but he wasn't angry, it was like he was embarrassed that her adorableness finally got to him. But it was Boy's Club where I started to think, "Hey, maybe this isn't quite the lost cause that I thought it was!" And then season 2 came along and now I am thinking that I'm not so crazy after all, even though there are still only a very few people who ship them (but hey, that's how Jack/Liz started too, so maybe Ron/Leslie will catch on eventually).
2. What I think their challenge is
Overcoming the boss/employee issue. Seeing each other as romantic prospects. They are very much not each other's types, but the show keeps revealing in little ways that they are sort of into each other, but not really, but sort of.
3. What makes me happy about them
Their complete adorableness. I mean, they are the DEFINITION of adorable, so much so that you would think I'd be all "Ick, no, too sweet!" but that's not the case. They are super wonderful and hit pretty much all of my shipping buttons. He's curmudgeonly, she's perky. He's pessimistic, she's optimistic. He's a cynic, she's an idealist. And, as hard as Ron tries to be, as tough and non-caring as he tries to portray himself, Leslie ALWAYS manages to get to him. Her excitement for life ALWAYS rubs off on him just the tiniest bit. She's his soft spot and he totally knows it and he is surprisingly okay with it.
4. What makes me sad about them
That everyone keeps calling them the new Mary and Lou, which basically means that most people don't see any romantic potential there and the show will feel pressured to not make them romantic, and that kills me a little. I already have to deal with that for Jack and Liz, don't make me deal with that for Ron and Leslie too!
5. What moment I wish had never happened
I've loved every moment so far.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Leslie/Dave, Ron/April (shhh, I know it's wrong, I can't help myself)
7. My happily ever after for them
They just... start dating. Just like that. It happens, and it's both hilarious and sweet and they hit some bumps but for the most part are wonderful together, and then they get married and Leslie eventually becomes the mayor of Pawnee while Ron stays home with the kids. IT WOULD BE AN EPIC ENDING, WOULD IT NOT?

Date: 2010-03-03 11:02 pm (UTC)THIS. This is what I was trying to describe in my own response to this (someone else gave me Ron/Leslie for this meme too), and here it is. Yes. Leslie is definitely his soft spot. Here's this super-grumpy tough-guy who's into domineering brunettes and breakfast food, and just a little excitement from a perky blonde turns him into a big goopy teddy bear. It's so delightful.
(And HEEE, I put Leslie/Dave too for 6!! Louis CK was way too adorable being all in love with Leslie.)

Date: 2010-03-05 06:00 pm (UTC)And yeah, the Mary Lou things really bothers me. And YEAH, it's enough hearing stuff like that about Jack/Liz!

2. What I think their challenge is
Michael learning to appreciate Dwight while he's got him. Michael only ever seems to appreciate him when he's not there, which is kind of heartbreaking.
3. What makes me happy about them
The way that they are quite often each other's unintentional saviors. This happened a lot in season 4 when Michael was angsting over Ryan and Dwight was angsting over Angela (especially in the ep where they went to get New York sushi together). Dwight loves Michael unconditionally, though this love was tested in season 5 when they were on opposing sides (but somehow they became friends again. I hate that the show glossed over their angst). Basically, Dwight is fiercely devoted to Michael in a way that no one else is willing to be, and Michael seriously needs that. Everyone Michael loves leaves him or mistreats him and breaks his heart, but he's got Dwight to put his heart back together again. And as badly as Michael mistreats Dwight, he does love him in his own weird way, and I think a part of Dwight knows this, he just wishes Michael would reciprocate more often.
4. What makes me sad about them
Er... I kind of answered that above. I hate that Michael is so cruel to Dwight sometimes. He often fails to realize what a great friend Dwight is to him and how much Dwight actually does for him. Also, I hate it when Dwight thinks of himself as superior to Michael. I don't really blame him for thinking it, but it's still startling sometimes since I'm so used to him hero worshiping Michael. And season 5 in general, namely the MSPC arc, broke my Michael/Dwight loving heart, and it saddens me that we never really got closure there.
5. What moment I wish had never happened
Michael wanting to blame the Golden Ticket escapade on Dwight (which he thought would get Dwight fired). That was just... unforgivable.
6. Who I'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other
Michael/Erin, Dwight/Kelly (or Angela).
7. My happily ever after for them
They retire and live together on the beet farm, with Dwight fussing over Michael and Michael complaining about him fussing over him, and they remember the good times together as they sit in their rickety wooden rocking chairs on the front porch, drinking ice cold beers and watching the sun go down.
