So, Ugly Betty. You know how I had a psycho freakout last week about Danimina? (wait, that's what the ship is called, right? These portmanteaus get so confusing, and the Ugly Betty fandom insists on using them) Anyway, I had a psycho freakout, because it's a ship that just makes me cringe in canon (I dig the idea in theory, but not in practice, I guess?), and that's exactly what this episode made me do. I was cringing SO HARD, and at one point I looked very much like Ignacio while he was watching his ridiculous movie. But on the plus side, Wilhelmina did exactly what I thought she would do, and it was all very humorous, so I guess my cringing was worth it. Maybe? Or at least it was until the end. Ack, show! Ack! But oh well, it made me laugh, so I'm not going to be crazy over it. But seriously, I do hate that it's more canon than Daniel/Betty at this point. Psh, EVERYTHING is more canon than Daniel/Betty at this point. But I am excited for the next new episode, because it looks like it will FINALLY be an episode about Daniel and Betty's relationship, which I am so unclear on, especially after tonight's ep where Betty was summarizing her life and didn't even mention Daniel. It's like they no longer exist to each other. Even in the scene where they were actually talking with each other (or at each other), they just didn't have that connect that they used to have. I miss them, damn it! It is not enough to just get sporadic moments that sometimes remind us they're friends. Remember the premiere for this season? How inseparable they were? How lost Betty felt while he was gone? I MISS THAT. So, I'm hoping that the episode in two weeks gives us some insight there. Also, I am a total sucker for Daniel/Betty angst, especially since their make up scenes are beyond adorable, so bring it on!

As for the episode tonight, despite all my cringing, I actually found it to be quite hilarious. It felt like a classic ep since we got the funny and the overcoming obstacles and the heartwarming moments and the heartbreaking drama all in one episode. The Hilda scene at the end made me cry buckets. Good lord, I am such a cry baby when it comes to babies. The Betty/Marc moments were so, so wonderful in this ep. As much as I complain about the lack of Daniel/Betty, I am willing to sacrifice them every now and then if it means we get all that beautiful Betty/Marc development. Amanda was awesome as always.

Okay, Conan is on, so I will shut up now.

I have to say, much as I was almost afraid to even watch this episode, the "couples counciling" was actually funny. And I'm glad, however quick it was, that we got a mention of Wilimina's initial reasons for being mad at Daniel that were actually valid and Daniel's also valid point that the anger was too much against him. (And misdirected when it should have been towards Bradford.) Honestly, it was Daniel's stupidity (thinking with his little head, oh honey) that made me cringe the most. But most of all, Wili was horrified, and that's all that matters, lol. Though I did say in the episode post that in a different fandom, Vanessa and Eric would be hot together. IN A DIFFERENT FANDOM.

But Oh My GOD that scene at the end. It came out of nowhere and I read every spoiler ever. And somehow a miscarriage feels on a whole different level even than the deaths of Santos, Bradford, and Molly. And they did it right at the moment it would hurt the most, too. Honestly, I'm surprised they had the scene with Betty and Marc at the end. Any other time it would have been awesome, but it would have been like trying to tack on an extra scene after Betty went to Daniel when Molly was being carried away.

But, all else aside, I'm mostly glad next week looks less horrifying/happier/and probably therefore better, too. Bout time the MAIN CHARACTERS got their screentime together.

ETA (I'm sorry. I'll stop editing this eventually, I swear): I do agree that the Betty and Marc (and Marc/Mandy) stuff in general was awesome, though. Just at the end I was still completely thunderstruck and hardly even processed the last bit.

Oh god, the miscarriage hit me out of nowhere. At first I was like, "Oh, are they having twins?" but the doctor just kept looking more and more worried, and then the scene got eerily quiet, and I burst into tears and pretty much kept crying all the way through the end. THAT WAS WAY TOO HARSH. I think the fact that the moment felt so real as opposed to their usual over-dramatization made it hit all the harder. Guh.

Though I did say in the episode post that in a different fandom, Vanessa and Eric would be hot together. IN A DIFFERENT FANDOM.

Ah, YES! This makes sense. Because I kept thinking, "They're hot, so why are they making me cringe?" It all makes sense now.

ED HELMS WAS SO EPIC ON CONAN! I loved how he sang-introduced each guest too. Joel McHale's was really clever. And, god, he looked so dapper. As usual. =D
