Seriously, The Office keeps making it up to me for sucking so hard in the beginning of the season. OH MICHAEL/DWIGHT! HOW YOUR MESSED UP LOVE AND ARGUMENTS ABOUT TOILET INVENTIONS SPEAK TO THE VERY DEPTHS MY SOUL! &hearts &hearts &hearts And, even though Oscar didn't have any lines tonight (did he?) I totally gleaned Andy/Oscar subtext from this ep. Their subtext doesn't even need dialog... because it's subtext... so it's unspoken.
1. DWIGHT'S KNOCK KNOCK JOKE, OMG! SO FREAKING HILARIOUS! I love that Michael was so obnoxious about telling his own knock knock joke to Pam, but then when Dwight tried to tell him one Michael acted like Dwight was the most obnoxious human being on the planet. HIS DISDAIN FOR DWIGHT WILL NEVER CEASE TO MAKE ME SMILE! That... that's weird. There's something wrong with me.
2. I knew it was coming the second Michael started scanning the room for someone to blame, but OH how it hurt my heart when he instantly defended Jim and then instantly put all the blame on Dwight. DWIGHT! THE MAN WHO LOVES HIM UNCONDITIONALLY! HOW COULD HE DO THAT? HOW? Sadly, I know exactly how Michael's mind works. He knows Dwight will love him no matter what, so he can treat him like crap and get him fired and not feel bad AT ALL because it only affects Dwight and not him. How lousy is that, man? So not cool.
3. BOTH MICHAEL AND DWIGHT KEEP DIARIES! And ooooh how I love the callback to Launch Party from when Dwight didn't trust his computer.
4. Michael taking Dwight out to lunch was THE greatest moment of Dwight's life. Even though Michael tried to convince him to take the fall for him. And Michael tries to take advantage of Dwight's love for him, and Dwight is so innocently logical about everything that he's just like, "No, sorry, no can do, buddy. Doesn't make any sense." Oh, another reason why I love Michael/Dwight so tremendously: Michael is an eternal dreamer, while Dwight is an eternal realist (who sometimes has trouble telling the difference between reality and fiction, but he never fails to be logical about every little detail of life. It's just that his logic is often completely insane).
5. I love that Michael always gets punished for his inability to take responsibility for anything. If he had done the adult thing and owned up to what he did, he would have been rewarded but instead he so forcefully pushed the blame onto Dwight after Dwight expressly said that he wanted nothing to do with it, and OF COURSE Dwight takes credit for it when it ended up being a good thing. Ooooooh, the delicious backstabbing of both of them. They are so made for each other.
6. THE ARGUING LIKE AN OLD MARRIED COUPLE IN FRONT OF DAVID WALLACE! THEIR RIDICULOUS IDEAS FOR INVENTIONS! THE WOMAN'S URINAL! Oooooooh, that scene was so magnificent. They just got so lost in their own little world that David GAVE UP trying to figure them out. Why David hasn't fired them yet I have no clue, especially after the superbowl episode. They must sell a whole freaking lot of paper to not be fired.
7. Michael's whole Willy Wonka act made me giggle quite a lot. I love that man and his childish glee.
8. ANDY WAS BACK! AND HE'S BITTER ABOUT LOVE!!! Sadly I do not have a widescreen TV and in just about all of his scenes he was waaaaay off to the side, so all I could see of him was a knee or a hand, but... it was still glorious. And, he was sitting next to Oscar in the conference room and looked to him for support during his Golden ideas and gave him a loving smile, and I choose to believe that Oscar smiled right back at him and laid a hand on his knee and gave it an indulgent squeeze. It totally happened, okay? And then when Andy was all confused he moved his hand up to his thigh and leaned into his ear and whispered, "Don't worry about it."
9. I WANT TO MARRY KEVIN! HE IS THE SWEETEST MAN IN EXISTENCE! OMG! Oh, how I love his scenes with the red-head. His story was probably my favorite thing from last week's episode, especially after seeing a deleted scene where they shyly smiled at each other from across the room, and just... I have never been this invested with a canon ship from The Office. It's ridiculous. But I am SO HAPPY that they've continued that story. I thought it was going to be a one-off thing, but guh! THAT SCENE IN THE PARKING LOT! SO ADORABLE! HE SAID SHE HAS THE NICEST SMILE! AND BOOBS!!! Oh, Kevin. I love that big old perv-ball.
10. I'm fairly certain that Jim is madly in love with Dwight. I know they've been having this elementary school love affair with each other for the entire series, but... they're relationship is more loving nowadays. Still though, Dwight's heart belongs to Michael. Always has and always will.
30 Rock was legendary tonight. LEGENDARY! DID YOU SEE THE LOVING LOOKS SHARED OVER THAT PORTA-HOTTIE? Oh yeah. It is love, baby. Love all the way. And Jenna/Tracy continues to rock my world. And Tracy/Kenneth. In fact, Tracy/Anyone pretty much rocks my world. Tracy was definitely the MVP of this episode, he had me laughing like a madman. AND DR. SPACEMAN! GOD, I LOVE THAT MAN! I used to not be able to stand Chris Parnell on Saturday Night Live, but ever since he became Dr. Spaceman, I just can't not love him. I don't know why I couldn't see his awesomeness before. The only time I liked him was when he did that flamboyant dancing brothers sketch with Chris Kattan. Anyway, Dr. Spaceman is awesome. Obviously. Dudes, I just really loved this episode. I don't think there was a moment where I wasn't laughing my head off. It was such a ridiculous episode. AND DID I MENTION THOSE LOVING LOOKS? *dreamy sigh*
Ugly Betty was okay. I still miss Daniel/Betty sharing deep moments, and I still don't care for Daniel/Molly and think they totally screwed that storyline up (even if it will shorten Molly's time, I just... don't like what they've done there). Betty/Matt was back to being likable in this episode. Hilda/Archie is pure adorableness. Ignacio/Elaina continues to make me smile with glee. Wilhelmina and Marc were hilarious. But... this whole Betty/Matt and Daniel/Molly thing. I feel like it's ridiculously tedious, even though I know it needs to happen for character development and it's actually an advantage for Daniel/Betty shippers since Molly is a Betty stand-in and Matt is a Daniel stand-in, but ugh, TEDIOUS. Daniel and Betty are best when together. Apart, they're rather boring, which is sad, because they used to be my favorite characters. Now I seem to care about everybody but them. That's just... not right. They used to be my #1 ship. WHAT HAPPENED? *cries* With each new episode I'm feeling the Daniel/Wilhelmina vibes more and more, which... I don't think is intentional? Not in the romantic sense, anyway, but damn, I actually found myself saying tonight, "Oh, just make out already, will ya?" *sigh* This show. It is so inconsistent that it blows my mind. And... it's so cracky that I really wouldn't be surprised about an almost-step-son making out with his almost-step-mother. Heck, he slept with his almost-half-sister repeatedly.
After many weeks of avoiding it, I somehow got sucked into tonight's episode of Private Practice, and... ugh, it's still making me ridiculously angry. Cooper/Charlotte just makes me hate both of those characters so very much and I just don't get why they love each other. I DON'T GET IT! WHERE IS THE LOGIC? Seriously, from a storytelling viewpoint, it just makes no sense. In season 1 he was blindingly in love with Violet for years on end, and then in season 2 he wants to marry Charlotte. She cheats on him, he's still with her. I DO NOT GET THIS AT ALL! And then he goes home to Violet and talks to her pregnant stomach and Violet has her hands in his hair and a blissful smile on her face, AND IT FAILS TO OCCUR TO EITHER ONE OF THEM THAT THEY BELONG TOGETHER! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS SHOW? Also, I don't get Violet not wanting to know the father of the baby and being all "It's my body, it's my uterus." Yeah, well, it took two to make that baby, and the men actually want to be involved and she just shuts them out and refuses to let them know which one's the father like they don't have a right to know if they have a child or not? Again, WHERE IS THE LOGIC? That is not empowering for women, that is just pure stupidity. I've missed the last 4 or 5 episodes, but honestly, not much has changed from 5 episodes ago to this one. The show is still making me see red and annoying the crap out of me. Ugh. And what kills me is that I still live for those little Cooper/Violet moments, and the show is totally trying to make me its bitch by giving us that ending scene between them. UGH! Also, Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer was in this ep, and I literally squeed when I saw her. TARA! &hearts &hearts &hearts
Also, I am terribly, terribly addicted to "Buffy/Giles trapped on a deserted island" fanfic. It is sad how many of those fics there are. And it is sad how much they excite me. *sigh*

Date: 2009-03-13 06:25 am (UTC)30 Rock was so fucking good, I laughed so hard. Tracy was fantastic, yes. And Baldwin is killing me with these looks of his. Gah. And guh! And flaily arms! After that first scene between the two of them, when she said, "You used my idea!" and he smiled at her, I actually sighed dreamily. Come on, Jack! You love her. It can't be denied, any more than I can deny my love for Alec Baldwin.
And, you know, I never really had an opinion on Chris Parnell before he became Dr. Spaceman, though I had seen him on SNL for years. But Leo Spaceman = the greatest.
EDIT: Oh, and Private Practice irks me, too. I don't understand how Charlotte/Cooper is supposed to be a good relationship.

Date: 2009-03-13 03:14 pm (UTC)30 Rock! It was so, so glorious. And maybe we've just been deprived of so much Jack/Liz in the last few eps, but good lord did those loving looks turn me into a squealing 13-year-old girl. Jack is so in love. So, so in love. And... I'm pretty certain that Jack knows that a portable microwave with a ham button that can also work in the shower is the exact way to Liz Lemon's heart. He could have proposed marriage to her with that instead of a ring and she'd jump into his arms shouting, "Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!"

Date: 2009-03-14 12:08 am (UTC)Hee! This is so true. (Also, this episode made me think of a fic I read a while back where Jack essentially declared his love for her by creating a pocket deep fryer. That fic ended with them making out against his desk. I don't deny that I wish this episode had ended similarly.)

OH! And this is for you: AGAIN! This is SUCH a Buffy/Giles song, I'm freakin'! And it's SO good and SO sweet and full of angst but with a dash of hope. And...*cries* SO GOOD!

Date: 2009-03-14 02:24 am (UTC)I was occupied with Lost (http://www.wickedsky.com/oncemore/omwf/fanfic_thelost.html) by Gail Christison for most of the week. SO GOOD. And ridiculously sappy at the end.
I also really love Matched Set (http://www.koalasplace.com/buffy/fanfic/matched0.html) by Koala, which technically isn't a deserted island fic, but... it's sort of like one.
I also read a few other deserted island fics that were pretty much porn porn cliche dialog porn porn porn cliche ending, and... I love those too. I didn't used to like reading so much porntastic fanfic, but my goodness, Anthony Head characters make me want the porn. Badly. *hides face* I used to be more of a gen fic with slight subtext for my OTP kind of girl, and you'd think I'd be that way for B/G, but no. I want the kinky stuff. *siiiigh*
Also, YES! THAT SONG IS WONDERFULLY BUFFY/GILES!
