1. Predictably, I couldn't wait for the subs to A Thousand Kisses to be released, so I watched eps 3-6 raw, or more like I watched the Woo Jin/Joo Mi scenes, and OMG, these two! THESE TWO! Not only are they vertically disproportionate and age inappropriate and grumpy vs perky, but their romance is following the contract relationship trope! COULD THEY BE ANY MORE PERFECT? Gaaaaaaah, I love them, and they just keep getting more and more adorable. Woo Jin practicing his smile for HOURS. Joo Mi giggling at his picture for HOURS. Their ~look~ when he grabbed her hand as she was cleaning the tea off of his lap! Oh, I love them. I don't even need subs to love them.

2. I watched Girl K the other night. It was pure awesomeness. Just enough emotion mixed in with the kickass. And yeah, it's definitely using Nikita as its inspiration. I mean, it's a different story, but it's kind of going along in the same trajectory. I was kind of bummed that Kim Jung Tae's character (Sang Ho) was in love with the main girl (Yeon Jin)'s mother, because, well, I was looking forward to shipping him with Yeon Jin. Oh, don't look at me like that. It would have been epic had he actually been her teacher like I thought he was going to be. But he's not, so... But don't be surprised if I end up shipping them anyway. Though at the moment I kind of ship Yeon Jin with the incompetent police detective. ANYWAY, the show is so gritty and kickass and it had gratuitous nudity, which I am so not used to with k-dramas, but overall I like its style. And I love that the villain (well, the lead gangster, who is like the third tier villain, but in the first ep he's the villain we're dealing with) he is so freaking sick in the head that he makes your skin crawl. They do not hold back with him. He uses religion to defend his actions, which somehow makes him feel creepishly real. Like, I can believe that a dude like him actually exists in this world, probably because there are people like him in this world. Looking forward to the last two installments.

3. True Blood. Is it wrong that I almost cried for Pam tonight? Good gosh did that scene hurt my heart. Stupid Eric. Forget Sookie and go be merry and evil with Pam. Pam loves only you and is completely devoted only to you. FORGET SOOKIE. Bill will always be in between Eric and Sookie. Always.

4. I thought that season 2 of Community pretty much killed my Jeff/Annie love, but all the spoilers for S3 are getting me a tad bit excited about them again. Just a little. But I can't help but feel that if these spoilers had come out last year instead of this one, I would have gone into a catatonic state (with a permanent :D on my face. And probably some drool). Now I'm just like, "Meh... we'll see." I am excited about the season as a whole, though. I miss Community like crazy. Am also excited for the James Spader-rific premiere of The Office. Oh, how I have missed that man being on my television! Too bad he can't bring along William Shatner.
firthgal: (true blood - bill sookie)
Have been MIA for awhile since I was on vacation. But it looks like LJ was down through most of it anyway.

So, True Blood. I don't think I've even mentioned it this season, have I? I find that I ship Bill/Sookie harder than I have ever shipped them before. I sort of just tolerated them in season 1, fell in love with them in season 2 but didn't know it, realized that I adored them in season 3 when they spent so much time being apart, and now I am crazy crazy obsessed with them since the show has inserted betrayal and breakup angst between them. AND BILL IS THE BAD GUY NOW. OMG, I love it. LOVE IT. I mean, Spoilers for last night's episode )

In other news, I caught up on City Hunter during vacation and fell back in love with it. I finally accepted that it was more of a rom-com with a little bit of action and revenge thrown in, and that allowed me to really get into the story. Plus, the romance kind of took a back seat in the last stretch of the drama, which pleased me, because I was more into the story between Yoon Seung and Jin Pyo than anything else. And the ending for them? PERFECTION. I love that Jin Pyo never stopped being Yoon Seung's father even though Yoon Seung had like three dads throughout this show. Jin Pyo is the one who raised him, and he was the one that Yoon Seung loved unconditionally, no matter how much crap Jin Pyo put him through. He kidnapped him, raised him to be a weapon of revenge, tried to kill everyone that mattered to him, told him his mother abandoned him, wanted him to unknowingly kill his biological father, threatened to kill him a billion times... dude was the worst father in the world, but Yoon Seung loved him and just wanted to live a happy life with him, even after he found out about everything. He just wanted Jin Pyo to love him as his son, just a little bit, and in the end he did. And that was one freaking epic death scene. SO BEAUTIFUL. Also, Young Ju's death scene killed me. KILLED ME. He was the last person that I had ever expected to die on this show. And this show really was not killing anybody up to that point, which is why I thought he'd be in a coma in the next episode since the show did that five times already, but then he really died. And it was heartbreaking, because he was just so steadfastly good. He was a good guy who believed in the power of justice. He was Yoon Seung's other half in a way, even though they were frenemies. Augh, that killed me. Jin Pyo's death was expected and very much wanted, because he was a jerk, but Young Ju? So not fair. *sniff* And while I wasn't the biggest fan of the romance in this drama, it did manage to pull me in eventually, but part of me still wonders how epic the show would have been had Nana died, how Yoon Seung's worldviews would have changed, if he would have gone on a vengeful rampage or stuck to his ideals. But anyway, the show still turned out to be awesome.

Also, I recently watched the first ep of the new Torchwood series, and OMG, I had no idea how much I missed this show. I'm sorry, dudes, but I think I will always love Torchwood way more than Doctor Who. There's more gun fighting and explosions and cheeky captains in trench coats and sexual innuendo and godawful dialog and elaborate action scenes that involve holding a baby the entire time and just... I LOVE IT. A LOT. And I am in the minority who only really cared about Jack, Gwen, and Rhys (and sincerely shipped Jack/Gwen/Rhys), so I have no problem with them being the only ones left. Oh god, I loved it when Rhys called him Captain Jack Bollocks. OH, SHOW, I HAVE MISSED YOU SO. ♥

DAY OFF TOMORROW, WOOHOO! Uuuuugh, I am so tired. This was a busy (and mostly bad) week. I am so happy that it's finally over. Of course, this next work week has a lot of late nights, so... not happy about that. UGH. Work work work and more work )

So, now I'm going to do some memes, all stolen from [livejournal.com profile] dollsome, because she always finds the fun ones.

#1
MAKEOUT MEME: Pick a pairing from any fandom/rpf, and come up with a location and/or situation, and I will write you commentfic about the kiss that happened in that context.

#2
Ask me about a pairing I have written (or haven't and you think I should write) and I will give you five facts about them or a ficlet or a song that is CLEARLY THEIR SONG or what they order from the Chinese place down the street, etc, etc.

It's official. My shows are out to break my heart this year.

True Blood. Damn it, show! Why am I so addicted to you? )

Basically, I am sad that I once again have to wait till next summer to get more of this crazy, crazy show.

My favorite review of Merlin so far:

Uther, to be fair, is not exactly in top form here either. I don’t get exactly why he was so verklempt about Morgana, since they hadn’t exactly left on the best of terms and he seemed to be saying he missed her beyond the confines of a father-daughter bond to the point where I raised my eyebrows and repeated this is a family show, this is a family show to myself a few hundred times.

Uther/Morgana is totally a thing. Also, HOW ADORABLE ARE TONY AND KATIE?

I bought the first season of The Vampire Diaries on DVD yesterday. I haven't bought a set of TV DVDs in ages (because they are ridiculously expensive), but man, TVD is totally worth it. I plan on an epic rewatch in the near future (this time with deleted scenes!). And of course, once I buy something, it's like the floodgates open and I start buying everything. I went on Amazon and pre-ordered Community, and then I bought season 1 of Merlin, too. My bank account is totally giving me the cold shoulder now. Anyway, it is all the fault of this jerk:

Is it bad that my favorite part of that vid is Pearl gouging out Damon's eyes to the lyrics of "Can't read my, can't read my poker face"? Also, this video kills my soul (in a good way):

I am currently watching a K-drama called IRIS, and unlike all the others I've watched, this one is a suspense spy action thriller, and OH MY GOD, IT IS SO FREAKING GOOD. You can see the American influences, but I love how it manages to keep the epic storytelling that is common in K-dramas but not so much in American shows of the same kind. This show actually takes the time to flesh out the love story and the friendships, but at the same time, the action is ever present and totally kickass and EXCITING, and they get to show more blood than an American show would (unless it's on HBO), and the whole show has more of a cinematic feel than a TV show, and (so far) the plot is really intriguing. COLOR ME IMPRESSED. I was waffling about stepping outside of the rom-com genre, because, you know, I am terribly addicted to those and they are basically my guilty pleasure, but I think it was a good idea to watch something plot-based rather than romance-based (although I freaking love the romance in this show, too, but it's not the focus).

NEW MOOD THEME! Apparently I've missed Modern Family more than I realized.
