Honestly, this is the least forced they've felt to me, but yeah, they were trying to hit all the old romance cliches there. And when Juliet grabbed Shawn and kissed him I was like, "OH DEAR GOD, NO, JULIET! THINK OF DECLAN! YOUR SUPER RICH BOYFRIEND! At least have the decency to break up with him before you go kissing another dude!" Ugh. Ugh. And they had to go and make me really love Declan, too. Like, no matter how hard they try to push this Shawn/Juliet thing, I always end up thinking that the other romantic interests are way better for them. Declan is a grownup who has no problem facing his feelings, he's being completely open with Juliet, and OH YEAH, HE'S SUPER RICH. Plus, he's pretty hilarious. I just don't see how Shawn would be the more appealing option there. This episode was trying to rely on the "connection" between Shawn and Juliet to make that kiss believable, but... they've kind of majorly failed at convincing me of this supposed connection.
Oh well, at least they didn't bug me too much last night. Usually something of that magnitude would have me fuming at the fact that it ruined an ep for me, but I accepted the Shawn/Juliet in this one pretty well. I don't know if it's that it was written/performed better than usual, or if I'm just FINALLY coming to terms with the fact that they're an actual thing, but they really didn't bother me too much.
