My Thursday night shows... on a Monday.
Jan. 31st, 2011 09:24 pmCommunity - Blah. It was kind of boring, to be honest. You know what's weird? Annie and Pierce are my favorite characters, and this ep was centered around them both, and yet I just didn't enjoy it very much. It had its moments, but for the most part I kept zoning out. The highlights for me were the Chang scenes and Jeff trying to correct his sexting snafu (and his non-conversation with Abed. That Abed, he's so judgmental!).
The Office - This one was quite adorable. Anytime that Andy gets ample screentime, I am pretty happy. I am so easy. So, so easy. Like, I don't even quite remember anything great about this episode except for Kevin being charming, but man did it make me smile. ANDY!!! HE IS SO ADORABLE! And this ep made me remember how freaking hard I used to ship Andy/Kelly. DID YOU SEE HOW IMPRESSED HE WAS? DID YOU SEE? Also, I loved Michael's pep speech to him at the end. It is so very lovely when the show reminds us that Michael is sometimes a great boss/mentor. Oh! Oh! The cold open! MICHAEL SCOTT AND DAVID BRENT LOVING UP ON EACH OTHER. It was quite beautiful, really. And Gabe! Gaaaaaaaabe! Gabe. Your love of pretentious/annoying films is totally going to make you lose your lady love. And, okay, Gabe, dude, WALL-E is equally as pretentious/annoying as those other films, so you would have totally loved it. Ugh, I hate that movie. Shrek 2, however, is awesome. BUT PLEASE, DEAR GOD SHOW, PLEASE DO NOT REVIVE ANDY/ERIN. YOU WERE FINALLY GETTING OVER THAT BORING MESS. AUGH, DO NOT GO THERE AGAIN. But clearly the show was trying to turn us off of Gabe/Erin by showing how he takes advantage of her poor Scrabbling skills, but... DIDN'T WORK. THEY ARE STILL MY FAVORITE. Oh, but surely Andy and Erin are ~soulmates because of their compatibility in movie choices. You know it! *gag* I'm sorry, I really do go on about this in every post, don't I?
Parks and Rec - Cuuuuuuuute! Oh, Rob Lowe, I love you, please marry me. Have I mentioned how dreamy Rob Lowe is? Yes? No? Yes? ROB LOWE IS REALLY, REALLY DREAMY. And Ann's dorkiness around him just endeared her to me more than ever. In fact, this whole episode was great for Ann. I don't think I've ever really appreciated her until this episode. Also, RON AND ANDY. ♥ I... still am not on board with Leslie/Ben, or Ben in general. I don't know, I don't know. Everyone keeps talking about what a great foil he is for Leslie, but I'm not feeling it. Like, at all. I think Ben just has to come into his own as a character for me to dig him, I guess. He's kind of like early Ann in the sense that he's the straight man without a whole lot of personality of his own yet. That talking head after Leslie's speech? I feel like that was a typical Ron line (when he's being sweet) and it just didn't seem right coming out of Ben's mouth. Bah, I hate that I am having issues with Ben. It reminds me of my issues with Brandanowitz, only I don't loathe Ben like I did season 1 Brandanowitz.
30 Rock - SO FREAKING HILARIOUS, OMG. It has been a long damn time since I've downloaded an ep of 30 Rock for rewatch, but I had to for this one. HAD TO. The Tracy/Liz stuff was amazing. ROBERT FUCKING DENIRO. WITH A BRITISH ACCENT. Random return of Dennis!!! Jack's very girly pronunciation of "Hello" that never fails to crack me up! OPERATION RIGHTEOUS COWBOY LIGHTNING! Dramatic music and significant looks! Oh, I loved it. Love love loved it. Even if I wasn't quite sure what the show was making fun of when Liz went on her rant about music manipulating people into feeling emotions to a half-assed resolution. I assumed they were bagging on Lost, but I wasn't sure. Maybe it was just everything, because a lot of shows do that nowadays. I don't know, but now I really, really want to make a multi-fandom fanvid set to that song with ~significant looks~ that aren't in any way romantic. I even kind of started one! But, the project requires too much commitment, and I am beat, so, I don't think I'll ever finish it beyond, like, 30 seconds, but we'll see.
VAMPIRE DIARIES, HOLY CRAP.
( Spoilers )
Also, with all the werewolf/vampire forbidden love vibes going on in this ep, I can't help but be reminded of the Filipino soap opera Imortal. AHAHAHA, I AM SO LAME, AS IS THAT SHOW, but it's what I keep thinking about whenever Vampire Diaries eludes to the oncoming battle between the vampires and the werewolves.
