firthgal: (andy - cry)

OH, MYUNG HOON, COME CRY ON MY SHOULDER PLEASE. More like come quietly brood on my shoulder, because he's the distinguished gentleman sort who sits in his room dressed all in black while he stares broodily into the nothingness that his life instead of shedding any tears. MYUNG HOON, STOP FALLING FOR CRAZY LADIES, OKAY? And because he's a genuinely good guy who still genuinely loves Miri even though she told him that she never felt any love for him, he's going to protect her to the end. I know he will. And it will be his destruction.

On the other hand, I feel like the first half of this episode was Miri realizing that she loved Myung Hoon, and that scared the crap out of her, so she decided it was time to push him away. But I'm not sure since the recap isn't out yet, and I really need to know what she said in her head after she gave him the final blow. I know she felt bad, but I was wondering if she felt more than just guilt, because I was interpreting everything up to that point as her having genuine feelings for him and not knowing what to do with them. Especially since she went to his apartment complex and stared longingly up at his window as a memory montage played. I mean, COME ON, clearly that is the k-drama equivalent of true love. YOU KNOW IT IS. And yet, the rest of the internet seems to have interpreted this episode as Miri falling for Yoo Hyun since he's the one she said "yes" to. But I just... I just don't get that. They've barely had any genuine relationship development, and Miri barely gives him a second thought. Like, she's never yearned to call him when she was feeling disoriented, she's never thought of him when pondering if love really exists, she's never thought of celebrating good news with him, she's never found herself walking to his home late at night and looking longingly at his window... she hasn't even had an actual relationship with him. And yet the internet is proclaiming that she's falling for him. WHATEVER, INTERNET. YOU'RE JUST AGEIST. Myung Hoon is the one who really moves her heart. She can be perfectly happy with Yoo Hyun, but Myung Hoon is the one that gives her cold, cold heart palpitations.

Ugh, whatever, I am torn between being happy that Miri has finally resolved to let Myung Hoon go and being devastated that she might never fully realize her feelings for Myung Hoon, and may even fall for Yoo Hyun down the line (because he too is a genuinely good guy who genuinely loves her), which would just make me angry, because Myung Hoon NEEDS to be the one who brings out her genuine emotion. It'll feel wrong if he's not the one that moves her, especially since he was the catalyst for this new chapter in her life (and it would just be beautifully symmetrical if he also becomes the catalyst for her figuring out that she's capable of feeling love). He's done so much for her, and he's put himself out there for her in a way that he's never done for anyone, and she just rejected him. She full out rejected him and made him feel like a complete fool, and that is just incredibly devastating for such an emotionally closed-off individual. OH, MYUNG HOON. What is he going to do? I NEED TO KNOW. Is he going to protect her? Is he going to fight for her? Is he going to shut her out of his life? Is he going to get revenge? Is he going to build a resentment toward Yoo Hyun? Is his ex-wife going to come back into the picture? Is his mother going to scold Miri when she finds everything out? Is his mother going to die when she finds out what happened? Or is the mother going to get sick again and Myung Hoon won't be there and then Miri will take care of her because she still cares for Myung Hoon and that will just make him love her more? WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN? AUUUUUGH, THIS SHOW.

I am so damn happy that Kim Seung Woo picked this drama to be in, because otherwise I probably would have ignored it, and then I would have missed out on what is becoming one of my all-time favorites. It's just so damn suspenseful, which I never thought possible for a melodrama. And what's interesting is that even though it's a melodrama, it's not angst central. It's actually quite amusing in a lot of scenes, and touching in others, but mostly it's pure emotional suspense. You just never know what's going to happen next, how Miri will manipulate a given situation, how the guys will unknowingly tear down at her defenses, what Hee Joo will do with all of the information that she knows, how the romances are going to play out. I LOVE IT. I LOVE IT SO FREAKING MUCH. I wish it was more popular.
