Question. Why is it so damn hard to find OT3 icons of Stefan/Elena/Damon? Heck, just finding good Stefan and Stefan/Elena icons is wicked hard. Clearly the fandom preference is Damon/Elena (but the Damon/Elena comm really seems to hate Stefan, and just... I wouldn't be able to take that, so I didn't join, though I may crack soon if I want to read Damon/Elena fic). I only have three eps left of Vampire Diaries, by the way. *cries* This show is so fantastically good that I cannot quite believe it. Every episode is like one big thrill ride and I cannot get enough. I like that it goes for more of a horror/thriller style than a comedy style, gives it a very different feel from shows like Buffy and True Blood (though it still has its fair share of comedy, which is lovely), and the execution of the plot is beyond amazing (I am so not used to that with vampire shows). The further into the show I get, the more I OT3 the heck out of Stefan, Elena, and Damon. I just can't see how you can ship one without the other, it just can't be done (or, it can, judging from the very insistent Damon/Elena comm), but, you know, Elena can't be in a relationship with Stefan without Damon being boyfriendly with her too, and, well, Elena isn't crazy enough to go off and have a relationship with Damon and completely forget about Stefan. Just not going to happen (and, despite Damon's careless demeanor, he really can't live without his baby brother). I must say though that the later eps of season 1 have me really falling for Damon/Elena. I think the moment that sold me was Damon looking into Elena's eyes and desperately telling her that he couldn't protect her and rescue Stefan if she went in with him, and he did this little hair stroke that seemed to comfort her, and it was beautiful and amazing and so very human and even Saltzman could see that Damon has very real feelings for Elena. And as if that wasn't enough, they made me positively swoon during their dance at the Miss Mystic Falls thingy, so, yeah, I'm sold on them, definitely. I wasn't sure if I could be swayed for awhile there since Damon was so genuinely in love with Katherine (which made me think he only had a superficial interest in Elena), but after the tomb episode, it became clear that Damon really does have this weird, trusting relationship with her where she truly has become important to him, and somehow it seems so natural that Elena seems equally protective over Damon even though she knows he kills people without a second thought. So, definitely an interesting relationship there. And clearly Elena's love is with Stefan, but she's got this whole other thing with Damon that is becoming as equally intense and somehow he's been more dependable for her than Stefan has, which is just insanity. I don't know, I don't know. I guess I lean more towards Elena/Damon shipping-wise, but at the same time, Stefan and Elena have that epic love thing happening for them, and unlike most vampire love stories, this one is actually kind of healthy? Or at least it was until Stefan got addicted to human blood again... I don't know. OT3 FOREVER, BECAUSE I SIMPLY CANNOT CHOOSE. And because Damon and Stefan's relationship is quite epic in its own right, therefore it cannot just be pushed aside in the name of romance. OT3!

Anywho, it's kind of interesting how this fandom and the True Blood fandom are so very against the broody reformed vampire (and even the Buffy fandom is to an extent, though Angel is far more popular than Bill and Stefan, but the Buffy generation seems to have convinced the younger generation that it's cool to fall for the ridiculously violent yet charmingly snarky badboy vampires while it's just so totally lame to like the broody ones. Because UGH, who wants to be around a buzz kill like that, am I right? And yet millions and millions of young girls cream their pants over Edward Cullen, the lamest of the lame broody vampires. Had there been an Eric or a Damon or a Spike in that series, Edward would be far less popular than he is. His only competition (from my understanding) is that Jacob werewolf fellow, who seems as equally lame as Edward is, so I'm not surprised that they seem to have an equal amount of fans). But... yeah, in the case of Vampire Diaries, I have so totally fallen for the ridiculously violent snarky badboy vampire, but only because he is utterly delightful and beautiful beyond words. Lookswise, Stefan just doesn't appeal to me, so... that might be part of it. Shallowness prevails! But I still ♥ Stefan and his (mostly) steadfast determination to live without hurting any humans. He tries so hard, and he's all gentlemanly and sweet and lovely and understanding, but he's also got this serious badass in him that he keeps hidden away and I freaking love him. But Damon... oh do I love Damon and his wicked, wicked ways. But I think what really makes Damon a sympathetic character is that we get these tiny glimpses into his humanity, and he's so... fragile when he actually feels things. Guh, I love him.

I am in love with The Vampire Diaries, is what I'm trying to say.

Day 28 - A pairing that you will never understand?

I think this one goes to House/Cuddy. No matter how hard I've tried in the past to see its appeal, I just don't get it. My f-list loves them, and, you know, on paper they are pretty much everything I love in a ship, but I just don't feel the chemistry at all, and more often than not their behavior towards each other offends me rather than excites me. For many seasons I saw nothing there but House wanting to get into her pants and being obscene about it, and Cuddy very intelligently refusing his advances, but somewhere along the way Cuddy got giggly over him and House suddenly had deep-seated emotions for her and the shoddy writing just made me want to puke. I just... I DON'T GET IT. I've tried so hard, I've read my f-list's lovely picspams and manifestos and what have you, I've watched their vids, and yet... House/Cuddy still fails to make sense to me. I think it will forever fail, mostly because the show has tried to make them out as the epic love story but had to retcon the first two seasons in order to do it, and when shows do that, it never sits well with me. But I think it mainly comes down to chemistry, and chemistry is such a subjective thing that I can't say that they don't have it, it's just that they lack the chemistry that appeals to me.

1x22 - The Art of Discourse

To begin with, Jeff/Britta and Pierce/Shirley are my least favorite team-ups on this show, and this ep focused heavily on both. Secondly, even the Troy/Abed stuff fell flat for me, and that never happens, so, that bummed me out. Mostly though, I abhorred that stupid duh-off scene in the cafeteria. Hated it with a burning passion, worst thing this show has ever done. Just... ugh, I really hated this ep. It was very disjointed and the jokes were tiring and it didn't have enough ensemble scenes. This show just doesn't work right if you split up the ensemble like that. Worst offense of all? There was barely any Annie. So, two thumbs down to this stinking episode.

What song are you currently addicted to?

Which, naturally, reminds me of Jeff/Annie, because I am currently obsessed with them. No, but really, I have had this master plan for awhile now to make a Jeff/Annie drabble fanmix (you know, where you write a drabble for each song on the fanmix), and this idea was mostly perpetuated by this song, but, you know, I fail at following through with things, so I doubt that said drabble fanmix will ever be completed, but one can dream, right? Day 27 - A pairing that you loved and ended up hating?

Hmm... you know, usually when I love a pairing, I love them to the end, so I had to think quite a bit about this one. I suppose my answer is Cooper/Violet from Private Practice simply because I gave up on them (and the show) halfway through season 2, but it's not the ship that I came to hate, it was the show. I hated how the show came back from the writers' strike and suddenly ignored that Cooper/Violet had ever been a thing. It was quite a huge part of season 1, and quite frankly it was the only thing that kept me watching that stupid show, and it killed me to see them just forgotten about in favor of Cooper/Charlotte (which is gagtastic, by the way. Ugh, cannot stand them, and apparently that ship is still going strong? Maybe? I don't know. All I know is that it's a sucky ship). So, yeah, I went from shipping Cooper/Violet hardcore to just not caring anymore. But if I ever hear that the show is reintroducing the Cooper/Violet love story, then yeah, I'll go right back to obsessing over Private Practice in all its awful glory.

I think House/Cameron kind of qualifies for similar reasons. Loved the ship in seasons 1 and 2, but throughout the course of season 3 it became clear that the show decided to drop their romance, and of course my love for House promptly declined, and once Cameron and Chase got married and the show started pushing House/Cuddy too much I gave up on the show all together. There just wasn't anything there to keep me coming back anymore (especially when House/Wilson started being sacrificed in favor of House/Cuddy. Ugh).

But yeah, with both of these ships, I still love them to death, it's just that they both have been effectively sunk, therefore they are no longer worth my time. I have a feeling that it would have been different had they been purely subtext ships, but they were both subtext ships that were also sort of canon, and for some reason, when those don't happen, it crushes me even worse than my purely subtext ships do (which is why I'm so worried about the fact that I've gotten so invested in Jeff/Annie from Community).

You know, this ensemble is so damn lovable that I really don't have a least favorite from the main cast, or even the main recurring cast, so, the answer to this one is Professor Slater. She was a terribly obvious plot device and not much else. Yeah, she was needed in order to show Britta that Jeff can be "relationship guy," but meh, ultimately she was just there. Luckily they didn't use her much, and when they did, they still managed to give her some pretty good lines.

In other news, I had no idea until today that the Merlin fandom was experiencing wank! (the Arthur/Gwen corner, anyway) Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets, for keeping me informed about such shenanigans! I was wondering why yet another Arthur/Gwen comm had been made. I've always been a little wary of [livejournal.com profile] camelot_love, if I'm honest, because it's always come across to me as a very anti-anything-but-Arthur/Gwen place, which, it's a shipper comm, so that attitude isn't all that surprising, but the mod has always struck me as a bit batshit, so I stayed far away from that comm despite being a member of plenty of other Merlin shipper comms. I just... didn't want to get involved in that. I had the same problem with [livejournal.com profile] herchampion, they were so strictly Arthur/Morgana and nothing else that I found them a bit scary (which, again, it's a shipper comm, so it's expected). But yeah, it's stuff like that that makes me happy that my OTP is the one that most people take no notice of since it's so unlikely to happen in canon that no one sees it as a threat (though, I'm pretty positive a lot of people classify Uther/Morgana as a depraved ship, but whatever, is there any ship on this show that isn't at least a little bit depraved?). And most (if not all) Uther/Morgana shippers happen to be multi-shippers with very few squicks, so it's all good fun.

I ACTUALLY REMEMBERED TO WATCH IT LIVE THIS TIME! AND IT WAS FREAKING EPIC! HOLY CRAP! So, so good. I uh... I think this episode may have done the impossible and convinced me that I should like House/Cuddy. Seriously dudes, I never thought that would happen. My problem with them was always that I could never feel anything from House in regards to loving Cuddy, but this episode blew my mind. I am now convinced. Congratulations universe, you win. (Ugh, now I'm quoting Jim Halpert. WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO?) Seriously though, the House/Wilson and the House/Cuddy was amazing tonight, and I enjoyed the case of the week and EUGENE and how it all tied into the end. It was awesome. Chase/Cameron, on the other hand, I just do not get and never will. It's one of those "oh, I know! Let's put the prettiest people together!" ships that I just can't stand. There is no onscreen chemistry there. None. I just felt AWKWARD through that ending sequence. And, I love Cameron, I really do, she's always been my favorite, but that crying scene, yikes. Nonetheless, I love that Cameron is all growed up now. *sniff* And I loved the House/Cameron scene and how they've successfully shifted into friends, all past attractions no longer making them awkward with each other. But anyway...

So, apparently, the only eps of House that I don't find horribly boring are the ones with copious amounts of Cameron (or PI Guy). I know my f-list hates her, but you know what? I'm fairly certain that she's the reason I fell in love with the show in the first place. I mean, I love House himself, but I love him SO MUCH MORE when he's interacting with Cameron. I've missed the last 7 or so episodes, but I was informed that last week's ep had quite a bit of House/Cameron banter, so I had to watch it. I HAD to. And, having missed so many eps really didn't affect anything at all. Except that I thought that House and Cuddy had started dating, but apparently not? I stopped watching after the ep where House and Cuddy kissed (not because of that, just because the show in general was boring me to tears). Anyway, Big Baby, I LOVED THIS EPISODE SO FREAKING MUCH! GAH! SO MUCH HOUSE/CAMERON BATTLING OF WILLS! IT WAS GLORIOUS!

Spoilers for Big Baby, even though everyone has already seen it )

On a completely unrelated note, I rewatched the Merlin ep Excalibur today during lunch, and I forgot how utterly beautiful the Uther/Arthur scene at the end was. It actually made me tear up a little bit, even though I've watched it at least a dozen times. Oooooh, Uther. Oooooh, Arthur. Also, this ep contained that super hot Uther/Merlin scene. You know the one. And, I feel the need to post this:

RUPERT GILES IS A BADASS MOFO! HOLY CRAP! WHY DID I NOT BELIEVE THE PEOPLE WHO TOLD ME THIS? HOLY CRAP! I WANT MORE OF THE RIPPER! GOD THAT WAS HOT! OMG! GILES!

Also, I am madly, madly in love with Spike. Not as in love as I am with Giles, but that's one hot vampire. And... he has that whole obsession with killing Buffy that completely rules his life, and that's with only 2 episode appearances? So, yeah, naturally I'm digging Buffy/Spike. Ships where they want to kill each other but can't because they have become each other's entire reason for existence are definitely my kind of ship. I'm still loving Buffy/Giles more though.

I completely forgot to watch House. And can't say as I care very much, to be honest. I think this is the beginning of me completely dropping the show...

*rushes off to watch more Buffy*

I completely forgot to watch House. And can't say as I care very much, to be honest. I think this is the beginning of me completely dropping the show...

*rushes off to watch more Buffy*

PS
Hulu is the greatest invention ever.

So, I know tonight was House night, but I just haven't felt like talking about that show lately. WHY DID THEY TAKE MY PI GUY AWAY FROM ME? :'( The episode itself was pretty good, I loved the old school feel of it with the old team being back (good lord, I never realized how much more interesting they are than the new ones), but the prospect of House being in a happy, healthy relationship still doesn't sit well with me. I don't know. I've just never pictured a happy ending for him, and I still don't get House/Cuddy. But... I'm happy for the House/Cuddy shippers on my f-list, because I know what it feels like to ship a long-shot ship for years and get excited over the tiniest things, the difference is that my long-shot ships never come close to actually happening, so I can only imagine the excitement that you all are feeling right now. *sniff* Bah! Why couldn't I like House/Cuddy? Why? So not fair.

Anyway, after House, I happened to flip to HBO, and Sweeney Todd was starting, and... I don't normally like musical films. They just rub me the wrong way. Namely Mamma Mia (ugh, I'm getting a headache just remembering that one). But I also find The Producers to be annoying (except for Will Ferrell's bits, obviously), and I've never understood the Moulin Rouge love (I prefer just listening to the music rather than watching the film), Evita is SO LONG, The Sound of Music puts me to sleep. I couldn't even stand Mary Poppins when I was little. I don't know why this is, because I love TV shows that randomly burst into song, and I love my Disney movies to randomly burst into song, but for some reason films that are based on musical theatre make me cringe. Except for My Fair Lady, because that's mostly a talky movie with a few songs thrown in as opposed to EVERY SINGLE WORD being sung. My Fair Lady is my ideal musical. The songs are fun, the story is engaging, and the characters are hilarious. ANYWAY, against my better judgment, I watched Sweeney Todd. I'm not a Johnny Depp fan, have never found him attractive as himself or normal characters, and yet... when he plays grimy characters I am positively in love with him. Jack Sparrow? Hot. Sweeney Todd? Even hotter. Johnny Depp himself? Ick, what's with his hair? And that outfit? And those glasses? And that hat? I just don't get the love. What? Sweeney Todd IS Johnny Depp? Shut up. Anywho, I remember when this film came out, people mocked Johnny Depp and the movie got a lot of bad reviews. And yet I actually really enjoyed this film. It was dark and crazy and morbidly hilarious, and I actually liked Depp's singing voice. But maybe after being traumatized by Pierce Brosnan I'm prepared to hear anybody sing? I don't know. But, Sweeney Todd was deliciously sadistic. I loved how revenge just completely consumed his soul, and I loved the contrast with the lighting between his memories and reality. And the ending was simply amazing. Wasn't expecting that at all. I've never seen the stage show, nor do I know anything about it, so I had nothing to compare the film to (maybe that's why I enjoyed it more than the cultured critics? Plus, there was lots of badass killing, and laughable amounts of blood, and these are very good things. Also, Sacha Baron Cohen in extremely tight pants). I enjoyed the musical numbers for the most part, too. Particularly the one between the little boy and Helena Bonham Carter (it was so darn sweet). There was more singing than I like, but it didn't bother me too much. Although, the one where the young guy keeps singing, "I will steal you Johanna, I can feel you Johanna," that... that was creepy. That kid creeped me out. Also, there was a very, very brief appearance by Anthony Stewart Head, and that made me squee, because it was totally unexpected. I just found this film to be really well done. I got wrapped up in that world, and in that world I found the singing to be completely normal. And I dig stuff that is set in the Victorian era. So, I liked this movie. It was the right combination of eeriness, hilarity, badassness, and musicalness. But seriously, Sweeney with a blade in each hand and dancing around the London streets tempting people to come to his shop for the closest shave of their life? Oh yes. That was badass and fruity. I loved it.

House spoilers. Wow, didn't expect to write that much about this episode. )

Okay, now that that's out of the way, do you guys remember that TV Guide cover where Alec Baldwin is totally checking out Tina Fey's rack? Is it wrong to just assume that it's somehow Jack/Liz subtext? I'm pretty sure the photographer was saying, "Jack totally wants to do Liz. We all know it's true." Is it wrong that I heard that in the voice of a flamboyantly gay man with crazy hair? I don't know why he has crazy hair. I don't even know who the photographer is. But seriously dudes, Alec is the only guy who can get away with something so pervy and make it look so charming. And sexy. Good lord, it's so sexy. I wish I subscribed to TV Guide, because then I wouldn't have to wait till Thursday to get that issue. Nor would I have to wait till Thursday to see the premiere. *sigh* I've started to really get my hopes up for Jack and Liz. I've been saying that I'm perfectly aware they won't end up together, but damn it, I want them to. Badly. More than I did before, because they are really starting to make me believe that it'll happen. Between Tina admitting to the sexual tension and NBC hyping up the Jack/Liz interaction and Tina saying that the show has evolved into being about the Jack/Liz friendship... ugh! STOP MAKING ME BELIEVE THAT IT'LL HAPPEN! I know this will only end in heartache. But if they don't end up together, then they at least need to make it canon that Jack is madly in love with her, because Alec cannot look at Tina anymore without pure admiration in his eyes. And that look in Subway Hero? As he watches her walk away? And he does that smile and that thing with his eyes? Oh good lord, he can't do stuff like that and expect me to not ship them. I'm just baffled by the people who are so against the ship. It's kind of hilarious how half of fandom ships them rabidly, and then the other half is like, "Whaaaat? What is wrong with you people? I don't see it at all." Of course, it seems to be that way with ALL of my ships. Although, sometimes I'm on the non-shipping side of the argument in some fandoms (ex. House/Cuddy). Anyway, that cover rules all. And because I'm feeling nostalgic, let's watch my very first favorite Jack/Liz fanvid (which was by [livejournal.com profile] scullybabe626!)

That was THE perfect song for them. Seriously. It still fits them. Oh man, THURSDAY! WHY AREN'T YOU HERE YET?

PI GUY!!!

I LOVE YOU PI GUY! PLEASE NEVER LEAVE HOUSE! EVER! I had a gigantic, goofy grin on my face through the entirety of every single one of his scenes. He makes me ridiculously giddy. I've never been this in love with a House character before. YOU GUYS! HE'S SO FREAKING AWESOME AND ADORABLE! GAH! PI GUY! The bit at the end? SO WONDERFUL! OMG I LOVE HIM! And I love that he and House are pure adorableness, as opposed to the INTENSITY of House's relationships with absolutely everyone else. Oh, PI Guy. You rock my world. I'd probably be ditching this show if not for you. PI GUY!!! The rest of the episode? Meh. I do love Taub though, so it's nice he got to be the focus. But... he's no PI Guy. Sorry, Taub. No one can measure up to PI Guy. He's perfection.

Ooo, while looking for screencaps (which I couldn't find), I just read that he might get a spin-off. OMG! OMG OMG OMG! PLEASE BE TRUE! I LOVE YOU, PI GUY!

In other news, I've been browsing the Life communities, and it looks like people aren't digging Tidwell. I ADORE him! OMG! And almost everyone seems to be saying that Dani was disgusted by him, but I got a completely different reading on that. She seems more flustered/curious than disgusted to me. And I kind of find their dynamic adorable. But I guess I'm the only one? I mean, dudes, I love Crews/Reese, but come on. The chances of them turning romantic are very slim, and if they do, it wouldn't be until they've both worked out their demons. Right now they have to keep making mistakes. They're going to stumble on their way through the darkness, but hopefully once they're comfortable in the light, they'll see each other, but that won't happen till the end. So, I'm going to try to enjoy whatever the show throws at me. I'm more worried about where Charlie's romantic life is headed than Dani's. Possibly because I fell in instant love with Dani's love interest, whereas I've been harboring feelings of intense dislike for Charlie's throughout the entirety of the show. So... long story short, I dig Tidwell.

I shouldn't turn to the Encore channels, ever. I always end up watching obscure films that I've tried to forget about. Tonight? The Fan. Ooooooh, Robert Fucking DeNiro, how I adore you. The fact that I will sit through that atrocity for about the 25th time says it all, really. Well, this time I only sat through the second half, which, honestly, is when the movie starts getting interesting. As in, that's when DeNiro starts killing everybody instead of just freaking them out. Do you know what the movie's biggest fault is? Besides the dialog, I mean. It's the soundtrack. Horrid. A song that says "I want to fuck you, I want to penetrate you" while DeNiro is preying on Benicio Del Toro in the shower totally sends the wrong message. Just... no. And then a different song with the same general message plays as he tries on Wesley Snipes' clothes, and when he calls him on the phone, and when he kills Coop. So so so wrong. Now, I've said this before, but I'll say it again. DeNiro's performance in that film is AMAZING. He freaks me the fuck out. I believe he gave me nightmares the first time I saw it, and I'm freaking in love with the man. But, he just plays insane so realistically. You can tell something's off about him, but it's not on the surface, and as the film goes on it slowly builds up until he just completely loses himself in his obsession. And through it all, you somehow sympathize with him, even though he's crazy and he's done all these horrible things, and you think he couldn't possibly be redeemed, and then in the end, there's this little flash in his eyes, this little moment of recognition where you see the old him and he realizes all that he's done and he's trying to find an answer to Rayburn's question, and then the light flashes out again and he walks to the pitcher's mound to show him his best pitch (with a knife), and he just wanted to matter. That's all. He wanted to matter. And then he very dramatically gets shot up and of course it's in slow-mo and it's a little ridiculous, but I'm still all teary-eyed nonetheless, especially when the very last words he utters are, "A simple thank you would have been nice," and of course this applies to his entire life of being under-appreciated and feeling worthless. He just wanted to matter. :'( Damn, DeNiro kills me. I forgot how much I loved that man. And, I'm not joking when I say that I've seen this film about 25 times. I have it on VHS and used to play it quite a bit despite the fact that the movie is atrocious. That's how awesome DeNiro is. I can't help but look at Gil Renard as the character that Travis Bickle probably became when he got older. You know, if the script for The Fan hadn't been so terrible.

Anyway, House. Completely sucked ass until about the last 3 minutes. I haven't been that bored by a TV show in a LONG time. I really miss season 1 House. I wish I had been into House during season 1 so that I could have savored it. And, the only Cameron scene where she had interaction with House was cut off by my stupid FOX station that can't figure out how to do the commercials. But the Cameron/Wilson scene was wonderful. &hearts And the House/Wilson scenes were pretty good, but again, it didn't really interest me until they got to the meat. Fact: I've begun to ship 13/Taub. It was pretty inevitable really since Cameron/Foreman was my #2 ship, and 13 and Taub are basically Cameron and Foreman. Only, I have no inklings whatsoever to ship House/13, so I have no conflicting ship urges there. YAY! I know most people ship 13/Kutner, but... I dare to be different, I guess. Anyway, my heart just isn't in House/Cameron anymore, so 13/Taub is probably where my heart will drift. And House/Wilson. But, if the show continues to be this boring, I'll probably drop it.

In other news, MY LIFE DVDs FINALLY ARRIVED!!!! Sadly, the extras are extremely lame. I was warned, but I thought, "Well, they can't be that bad, right?" Wrong. So lame. And my excitement was completely gone because they took so long to get here. The only extra that gave me any joy was the deleted scene where Dani touched Charlie's thigh. Yes, I'm shallow (and was living vicariously through Dani). I should just not buy TV DVD sets that aren't The Office, because The Office is the only show that delivers with the bonus features. At least 8 minutes of deleted scenes for every single episode (sometimes 15 minutes), hilarious commentary for at least half the episodes, a 30 minute blooper reel, and a bunch of other stuff. Every show should strive to do that. Instead, most shows give us nothing and charge us $40. So, at least Life tried to give us something, but ugh. Oh, and the bit where Damian was playing a song on his teeth and he looks up and says, "That was for you, Steve." Was he talking about that Steve McQueen fellow?

In conclusion, DeNiro rules, House sucked, Life extras suck, Damian is pretty.
