Please make James Spader the boss on The Office next season. PLEASE.

Yours Truly,
Someone who really misses the crap out of Alan Shore (seriously, it would just be cruel to have James Spader on there oozing his usual brand of creepy predatory yet oddly charming sexiness and NOT bring him back)

Day 29 - What ship had the best proposal?

Alan/Denny from Boston Legal. ♥ ♥ ♥ (sorry about the sound being out of sync, for some reason all of my Boston Legal vids do that). First of all, the proposal was unexpected, yet kind of expected? I mean, in a storytelling sense, it was the logical route to go, but I never actually expected the show to go there. I just didn't. I know that this show constantly pushed the boundaries of a friendship between two heterosexual males, but this simply blew my mind. Not only that, but in the end there Denny really laid it out for him. Alan's the man he loves, simple as that. All of the other reasons were just excuses to get Alan to say yes, but in the end it was their love that really got him. And the fact that these two are comfortable enough to even think about marrying each other is just astounding. To go from freaking out at waking up in the same bed at a fishing lodge in season 2 to PROPOSING MARRIAGE TO EACH OTHER by the end of the series is pretty fantastic. I will never get over their epicness, ever. The loving looks, the numerous proclamations of love, the hilarious shenanigans, the various bouts of jealousy and angst over having to share each other with other people, the sleepovers, the marriage... no bromance will ever beat these two.

Day 08 - Favorite Jeff moment

You know, I was debating between this and the ghosting scene, but in the end the pool scene won for the epic feel that it was given. It's just a really magnificent moment to watch, and I utterly love how pervy everyone is over Jeff (particularly the Dean and Annie). Plus, it was a great moment of character growth for Jeff. He realized how shallow he was being and remembered that he was a freaking awesome pool player no matter what he was wearing. Even in short shorts he was still Jeff Winger (giant ego and all).

1. This video makes me miss Community like crazy:

*wistful sigh*

Also, few things delight me quite as much as compilations of my favorite TV characters dancing to some crazy club music. Seriously dudes, NEVER GETS OLD.

2. Oh, you know what time it is by now:

Day 13 - What is your favorite television pairing?

Can I just, like, shock you all and say Alan/Denny from Boston Legal?

They are the most epic of all bromances, but sadly they are often overlooked since the show was never all that popular. I mean, dudes, I sat through the most hamfisted soap box preaching that any show could ever throw at you just so that I could watch the beautiful, beautiful love story between Alan and Denny. They were hilarious and fun and lecherous and offensive and loving and tragic and angsty and fluffy and beautiful. I just really, really loved them, and despite the show's faults, it always got this relationship pitch perfect. The progression of their closeness is just so delightful to watch, and the fact that these two very straight men (one of whom starts out rather homophobic) can get to the point where there is literally no personal space between them (they get married!) is simply astounding. The long version of my compilation originally contained the scene where Denny acknowledges that he and Alan share a romantic love, and it is just amazing that Denny is intuitive enough to realize this long before Alan ever did, and I love how he points out that you don't need sex to have romance. He and Alan were more than friends, more than soulmates, they were in love. A powerful, eternal love that could never be compared with anything else in their lives, and they both knew it. Denny even gave up a woman who he was in love with simply because she wanted him to move out west with her, and when she asks him to, his face gets panicked and he immediately says that he can't and she says something like, "It's because of Alan, right?" and she just walks away shaking her head, like she knew his answer before she even asked. Alan is his LIFE. Alan is who he wants by his side till the day he dies. Alan is the only person who knows every facet that there is to Denny Crane. Alan is the only person who loves Denny Crane for absolutely everything that he is, and vice versa. They just love each other, period. Hence why they got married even though they're not sexually into each other (but, don't worry, they're both such manwhores that I'm sure they still encourage each other's sexual exploits, just as long as they always return home to each other, just as they've always done). Actually, I'm kind of bummed that we never got to see Alan and Denny's married life. I'm sure that they proudly flaunted their marriage to the entire firm while also propositioning all the women. *sigh* Oh, those two, I love them.

So, that Merlin Australian special. It only showed ASH twice, maybe? And, I swooned, both times.

CLEAVAGE, BITCH! HELL YEAH! I love my Uther cleavage. I can't help it. And he's so adorable when he cracks himself up with his nonsensical, rambley responses. I also love him for defending Uther. UTHER IS AWESOMESAUCE! Isn't it sad how everyone else is flailing over Bradley and Colin and Katie (and her ginormous glasses), and I'm just like, "THE OLD DUDE! HE'S HOT!" *sigh* I bet he'd even look hot in Katie's ginormous glasses.

-------------

So, big time LJ voting stuff. It's annoying. I swear that 93.5% of my f-list is just people posting something like, "VOTE FOR MY SHIP, BITCHES! DO IT! NOW!" and, I'm all for enthusiasm and most certainly am not dissing any of you lovely people that I adore, but... ARGH. It's like the HBIC contest all over again. And you know who won the HBIC contest? A FUCKING MAN. Psh, even in an all female contest a stupid man wins. SUCH IS THE WORLD WE LIVE IN. And he won by a freaking landslide. A man who completely BUTCHERED Ring of Fire. I'M SORRY. I CANNOT SHARE FANDOM'S LOVE OF THIS NOT-SO-TALENTED DUDE WHO IS SO NOT AN HBIC. Anyway, I have already come to terms with the fact that NONE of my ships will win. They just won't. The one that has the most chance is Merlin/Arthur. Otherwise, I ship the obscure and/or hated ships, so... yeah, not gonna win. And I am being vicious and voting against the ships that bother me, and 9 times out of 10 I have never even heard of the opposing ship. WHY? WHY DO RIDICULOUS INTERNET CONTESTS MAKE US ALL LUNATICS? I don't know. But there you go. Also, I am saddened that Buffy/Giles isn't even an option. Nor is Uther/Morgana. *hmph* They so should have pitted Buffy/Angel against Buffy/Spike, just to see what kind of shit storm would happen from that. But... anyway. Yeah. I'm crazy. But so are you lot, so it's all good.

Speaking of ships this non-secret amused me. Firstly, because it said "Moses" instead of "Noah", and secondly, because the second I saw it, I was like, "OMG, ARE THEY TALKING TO ME?" As it has been lovingly pointed out by many, I don't have ships, I have a freaking fleet.

----------------

Did I ever mention that the last new True Blood episode made me finally see why so many people ship Sookie/Eric? Because holy hell, they've got this freakishly hot thing going on between them, and I fear falling in love with that ship, because then it'll make me resent Bill, and I so don't want to resent that lovely vampire, so... yeah, I'm digging just going with the flow ship-wise on this show, so I really don't want to turn passionate about any of the ships, especially since the only one that I did really dig ended up going kablooey and I can't even remember why I had originally loved it so much. But Eric is so making Sookie more interesting, and Bill has a certain admiration for Eric and Sookie keeps getting in between them, and Sookie makes Bill a little unstable, and Eric just seems to get Sookie like no one else does, and GOOD LORD, I AM SO FALLING FOR THEM. AUGH, DON'T DO THIS TO ME, SHOW! I don't want to ship on this show! I just want to ogle the pretty men and laugh at the ridiculous plot. *sigh* I actually think the show is better this season writing-wise, but I think the ongoing mystery (Marianne) is sucksville. I so miss the ongoing mystery from season 1. But anyway, Sookie and Bill have gotten a lot more interesting this year, purely because of Jessica and Eric.

---------------

So, on the 4th of July, we watched the new movie on HBO, which was Burn After Reading. This got good reviews, people on my f-list generally enjoyed it. WHAT THE FREAKING HELL? IT WAS RIDICULOUS. So, so awful. I'm sorry dudes, but I just did not like it. At all. I don't really care for any of the actors in the film, so that might explain some of it, but... blech. I don't know. It wasn't the worst movie ever (I loved the government dude that was just plain confused and was happy to get rid of everybody), but it certainly wasn't worth all the praise. I guess I'm just not much of a dark comedy fan. I like goofy/awkward/touching comedy, not... pointless, the-only-endearing-characters-get-killed comedy. It was just stupid, and not the good kind of stupid. But again, not the worst, because it did keep me interested in its ridiculous plot (if it even had one), but... ugh. I could have skipped that one entirely.

Speaking of the 4th of July, since we (finally) closed down the candy store, my oldest brother brought along all the leftover candy and dried fruit and nuts with him, and GOOD GOD I am going to gain 50 million pounds by the end of the month. Seriously. There's got to be at least 30 pounds worth of candy there. Probably more. Mind you, I am picky about my candy that isn't chocolate, but still, I've been eating mini fruit slices like my life depends on them. And I've been devouring the few chocolate stuff that was left.

List the ten most random favorite things you can think of (in the order they come to mind).

1. Hearing a song I used to love like crazy but haven't listened to in years. Today it was this one. Yes, those are two dudes from Lynard Skynard. I love those dudes. And I love the lyric "It's better to be hated for who you are than be loved for who you're not." I also love the not as sage but still awesome advice, "I never let a cowboy make the coffee." That Granny was a smart woman.
2. Watching Buffy while I eat lunch. I don't know why. It just makes lunch time more fun.
3. Getting things done much earlier than expected and having time to goof off guilt-free. This RARELY happens to me, so when it does, I'm ecstatic.
4. My nephew's laughter. I don't think I will ever tire of hearing that sound.
5. String cheese. I love it. I've professed my love for it on numerous occasions, so you probably already knew this. But I love it. A lot. It's good stuff.
6. Family group hugs. They are ridiculous, but I love them.
7. The smell of the trees at night when the temperature is below 50.
8. Anthony Head giggling uncontrollably. &hearts
9. The Uther/Morgana billowing capes of love scene. YES, I AM STILL NOT OVER IT! I WILL NEVER BE OVER IT! And the more I watch it, the more I've begun to trick myself into thinking that they are kissing in the very end. The way Uther's head is moving in kissing motions, the way her head is hidden by the hood, my stupid brain is making me think that they are actually kissing, which is just craziness because the show would never be able to get away with that. But good lord could they trick me into believing it.
10. Randomly singing. I do it a lot, and it makes me giggle. I've always done this. It's probably why I love Andy Bernard so much.

Boston Legal was so utterly perfect. Well, aside from the Chinese bashing, because, you know, my nephew is half Chinese and half of his family was born there, but... usually Boston Legal is bashing America, so I guess it all evens out? Anywho, character-wise, it couldn't have ended more perfectly. It brought me so much glee and I had this gigantic smile on my face through the whole thing, and never, NEVER has my shipping heart been so completely rewarded.

Thank you for the good times, Boston Legal. )

-------------------------

I've watched a bit more of Buffy, and I have to say, The Wish was simply amazing. I am a sucker for action sequences set to operatic music in its most violent moments (hence why I love John Woo movies), so naturally I found the end of this episode to be one of the greatest scenes of the entire series (well, that I've seen so far, but I doubt much can top it). Buffy killing Xander without even flinching, Oz killing Willow, Buffy having NO emotions, Giles saving them with his faith in there being a better world. Also, prior to that episode, I wasn't interested in Xander/Willow at all, but holy crap, their evil selves are ridiculously hot together.

Anyway, I recently watched Helpless, The Zeppo, and Bad Girls, and I just had to comment on the Buffy/Giles goodness (or angst, as the case may be):

First off, William Shatner is so getting an Emmy next year. Just saying. I am sitting here sniffling at the beauty that is Denny Crane. Ooooooh, my heart. I don't think my heart will be able to take next week being the finale. BUT MY GOD THIS SHOW IS GOING OUT THE RIGHT WAY! THANK YOU DAVID E. KELLEY! THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY DREAMS COME TRUE! I TAKE BACK ALL THE HATE THAT I UTTERED AT YOU FOR RUINING JOHN/ALLY AND GUBER/LAUREN BACK IN THE DAY!

Boston Legal was pretty damn epic. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me gasp and flail, it made me awwwww, and then it made me cry again. I love how it was such a classic family Thanksgiving. It's kind of tragic that they are each other's only real family. This episode was a little heartbreaking considering the fact that they are really setting up the end here. It's all been set in motion. Only 2 episodes left. :'( 2 episodes!

Just one big happy family )

I'll just say it right now. I am EXTREMELY jealous of everyone who now owns the first half of Merlin on DVD. The extras sound amazing, and something tells me the American release won't even be half as amazing. But if I'm lucky, they'll just keep it exactly the same, package the entire series into one set, and then slap on the label of an American production company. One can only hope. The sad part? The most excited I got over everyone's descriptions was about Anthony Head having a pink Nintendo DS. AS IF I WASN'T IN LOVE WITH HIM ENOUGH ALREADY! Everyone else is freaking over the lovely gayness of Bradley/Colin. I feel like I'm shirking on my manlove fangirl duties. But such is the power of Anthony Head and his love of pink handheld game systems.

Reasons why I am such a sap:

Ugh, it's gotta be the PMS )

Like many others, my LJ notifications are taking 2-3 hours to show up in my email (if they even show up at all), so if you comment or send me a PM or something and I don't respond, I am NOT ignoring you. Also, I noticed the other day that I accidentally forgot to add a few of you to my friends filter, so if you haven't seen me commenting and then I suddenly show up, I APOLOGIZE!

Also, if you want some unexpected Morgana/Uther goodness/betrayal (that is actually a Merlin/Arthur fic, so really you get 2 for the price of 1), check out Angel of Mercy by [livejournal.com profile] demon_faith. It's pretty good. Also, some prime Uther heartache and coldness can be found in Barter, Beg, Renege by [livejournal.com profile] fadagaski. So, so beautiful and heart-wrenching. I love it. UTHER!!!! STOP KILLING ME WITH YOUR AWESOMENESS! No, please, never stop.

Name a show you can't miss:
Life, 30 Rock, The Office, Ugly Betty, Boston Legal

Name an actor who would make you more inclined to watch a show:
Damian Lewis! And I'm going to say James Spader because he's the only reason why I tuned into Boston Legal way back when.

Name an actor who would make you less likely to watch a show:
David Caruso.

Name a show you can and do quote from:
The Office, ALL THE TIME. It's gotten to the point where I don't even realize I'm quoting it anymore.

Name a show you would recommend everyone to watch:
MERLIN!!! Also, 30 Rock, because that show is awesomesauce. I really don't understand why this show has such a small audience, because it is freaking hilarious. Also, Life. I always rec Life, because it's amazing.

ETA:

I'VE JUST READ THAT BOSTON LEGAL ENDS ON DEC 8TH! NOOOOOOOOOOO! Why was I thinking we got an 18 ep season? This blows. I thought we got more. I'M NOT READY TO LET GO YET! DAMN IT! I THOUGHT I HAD MORE TIME TO PREPARE! But that explains why the ongoing storylines are so tight this season. I knew it was shortened, but I thought it was only a little bit shortened. *sigh* I'm not ready to let go. :'(
