firthgal: (merlin - lancelot gwen)
So, with Uther pretty much out of the picture, it allowed me to remember why I fell in love with this show in the first place. THE BOYS. I will always have a soft spot for Arthur/Merlin. Always. And they were in top form tonight. Also? I still love Lancelot. Like, a lot. Dude needs to stop being so dreamy if I'm supposed to believe that Gwen would choose Arthur over him. Did you see his face when he said he'd protect Arthur with his life and Gwen just said, "Thank you"? HIS FACE. OMG, HEARTBREAK. That was cold, yo. I can't believe that she goes to her ex boyfriend and basically asks him to die in place of her current boyfriend. DAMN, GWEN. I wish I had her balls. Also, Gwen's coldness towards Lancelot is just making me ship them even harder. I loved them when they had smokin' hot chemistry that more than made up for their lack of depth, but now that it's all unrequited and hopeless? They own me. Gwen is going to forever punish Lancelot for leaving her without any explanation way back when. And you know what? I don't really blame her. But... he's so dreamy. I suspect I would have forgiven him the second he reappeared in front of me.

Also, I'm not going to lie, I love the fact that Morgana's betrayal has left Uther in a catatonic state for an entire year. I would love it more if she wasn't his biological daughter, but, whatever. I've come to terms with that stupid revelation. Mostly. I am still utterly confused on what exactly the family relations are re: Morgana/Morgause/Uther/Arthur's Uncle. Where did Morgause come from again? Was she Morgana's (thought to be) father's daughter? Or was she Morgana's mother's daughter? If so, how did she never know her before? And if Arthur's uncle is Ygraine's brother, then why the heck is he chillin' (and pervin') with Morgana? AUGH, I'M SO CONFUSED. Show, you should have stuck to season 1 canon, because Morgana being related to the Pendragons is just plain confusing.

And am I crazy or is the show trying to softly transition us into a world without Uther? IS HE GOING TO DIE THIS SEASON? Guys, it's like Michael Scott leaving The Office all over again. Except... Uther is not the star of Merlin. But he totally is in my head! What is a Merlin without my Uther? *sniff* On the upside, if the show keeps being as good as this episode was, then I think I'll be able to deal with it just fine. Especially if they give me more Lancelot.

In other news, my Office bobbleheads arrived today, and the first thing I did was open the Kelly one and put her next to Andy, so now I at least have a complete set of all my Office ships (I have Ryan/Micheal/Dwight lined up on one side, and then Kelly/Andy/Oscar on the other. Once I set up the rest I am totally going to have Toby being a creeper behind Jim and Pam). Did I mention that the last two eps of The Office have totally given my Andy/Kelly feelings a resurgence? I am shipping them like it's 2007, baby. Although the C-Span comment stirred my Andy/Oscar feelings, too, so... basically Andy getting to interact with everybody in every episode is like heaven to me.

GREATEST UTHER VID EVER:

OMG. *flaily hands* I so love how INSANE it is, like, it really gets the point across that Uther is a paranoid sociopath who alienates absolutely everyone around him, and he has basically destroyed his life. Just... the pain, the rage, the crazy, it's all there. LOVE!

And this Uther/Morgana one leaves me with chills:

HOW DID THEIR LOVE GO SO WRONG? WHY DOES THEIR PAIN MAKE ME HAPPY? I just don't know.

I was actually watching some of my old vids, because I am lame and do that from time to time, but someone had given me a Thumbs Down on Until We Bleed and I was like, "Whaaaat? If I'm going to get a Thumbs Down, it should be for my shoddily made vid to Ashielf Pi." And then of course I had to watch Ashielf Pi, and damn, I forgot how epic that song makes everything, even shoddily made fanvids!

See? LOOK HOW EXPLOSIVE THEY ARE! It's all due to that song, because seriously, that vid had way too many glitches, and it didn't come out the way I wanted it to because I didn't have the capability to do voiceovers back then, so you have little shots of people completing their previous sentences and it drives me NUTS. But, yeah, that song makes it 20 times better than it actually is. Of course, that's pretty much the case with Until We Bleed, too, if I'm honest (and I was experimenting with that one anyway, so I guess it's not surprising that I received a Thumbs Down, but I am awfully proud of that vid for some weird reason and DO NOT APPRECIATE THAT THUMBS DOWN, DAMN IT!). Even my Viva La Vida vid is more deserving of a thumbs down than that one! I can't believe how popular that one is, by the way. I mean, every time I go back and watch that one I crack up at how literal I took it with some of the lyrics, and the timing is all off through the entire last third of the song, and just... augh, I hate that I can see all these flaws and not appreciate the praise. But with Until We Bleed I'm just like, "Yeah, I'm awesome," even though barely anyone likes it. *sigh* But yeah, my vids are very elementary compared to the others that I've embedded.

Anyway, let's end this post with a sweet vid, because all the rest were either heartbreaking or explosive:

*sniff*

Oh, oh, one more!

SO PRETTY. Oh, Uther, I love it when you try to be a decent human being! ♥

Gosh, look at me fangirling over Uther and Uther/Morgana! What is this, 2009?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh god, this episode, so delightful. (is it sad that my responses to Merlin have become, like, 2 sentences as opposed to the essays that I used to write? Probably)

1. NEW UTHER PICS OF HOTNESS.

Can he BE any sexier? Good god. )

2. So, not too long ago I was talking about how Beauty and the Beast was the very first love story to ever move me. Or at least, it was the first love story that actually captured my interest, and so it's always been a favorite of mine, and most of the ships that I ship have a Beauty and the Beast sort of element to them. Well... what did I come across today that made my LIFE?

ASHJJDK;FHJAKDSGHDF;A;DFJHF;DSJDF OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!! GREATEST VID IN THE UNIVERSE. Leave feedback for the vid maker, because she deserves epic praise. Seriously, Uther/Morgana + Beauty and the Beast = SMILES TIMES. *contented sigh* Gwen makes the perfect Mrs. Potts, by the way. And Merlin is Clocksworth!

3. JEFF/ANNIE PROMO PICS.

4. The promo for the latest iCarly looks like it will have some epic Carly/Freddie and Sam/Spencer moments. THIS PLEASES ME GREATLY. But obviously the commercial is LYING THROUGH ITS NONEXISTENT TEETH because it wants to rev up all the Carly/Freddie vs Sam/Freddie shippers. Whatever dudes. I don't care who dates who, because in my mind, no matter what, it's simply canon that Spencer and Sam end up together about ten years from now. They just do.

5. I was playing Paper Mario again last night, and now I think I ship Mario/Vivian? What is with Paper Mario making me ship things? It's Mario, for pete's sake! But clearly Mario's one true love should be Vivian and not Princess Peach. Although I am starting to suspect that Mario is gay, because he's got all these ladies loving up on him and he seems to be immune. Hmm... Still though, Bowser/Peach is my OTP. IT IS LOVE! UNHEALTHY, BUMBLING LOVE! It is no weirder than Peach/TEC. Seriously, that computer is such a perv. OH, THIS GAME! It's so ridiculous.

6. I watched Avatar today. It was... okay, I guess. The animation was pretty, and I adored the war scenes, but the story was pretty unoriginal, and the acting was kind of laughable here and there. The first hour or so was quite boring, but it picked up after the main dude got captured and I got really into it. It even made me cry. Whoever did the voice for the girl was pretty darn good. And the facial reactions for her were spectacular. So, I do praise the movie for that. And the actual world they created was somewhat original. But it was basically a mixture of Ferngully and Pocahontas with aliens.

I don't have much to say about this ep except HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AWESOME. Oh, Merlin. Oh, Arthur. Oh, Arthur/Merlin. Oh, Gaius! Oh, Uther, you utter bastard, I still can't figure out why I love you so. Oh, Balinor. Oh, Hunith (even though she never actually showed up, and yet her presence was felt in my heart). Oh, Gwen. OH, SIR LEON.

Some spoilery squee )

Okay, guess I had a touch more to say than I thought I did. Basically, I LOVED THIS EPISODE QUITE A LOT.

And now I have to go shovel the driveway. FUN. (that was sarcasm, just in case you couldn't tell) It is still snowing, by the way.

DAMN, BITCH! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO AND DO THAT TO ME? Seriously dudes, if it was the show's aim to make me not root for her anymore, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Sort of. I still kind of love her no matter how much she hurts me. WHAT CAN I SAY, I AM TOTALLY UTHER'S SOUL TWIN.

Also, the show accomplished something I never thought it could. They made me totally hate a pairing with a fire so fierce that I'm pretty sure it would burn up the entire galaxy. If fic pops up for them, I will probably throw my computer out of the window in a fit of rage. Especially if they end up getting more fic than Uther/Morgana. I'm just putting that out there right now. It's one of my batshit moments and I freely admit this.

Anyway, this episode was intense, and the very brief Uther/Morgana moments had my heart pounding so freaking fast that you'd think I was running in a marathon.

Spoilers )

And now for the visual aids, because UTHER AND MORGANA FINALLY SHARED A SCENE TOGETHER. )

Oh, one other thing. Mordred still creeps me out like crazy. Who knew a little kid that rarely talks could be such a frightening villain? Seriously, that kid scares me. I think his adorableness makes him even creepier. I don't know. He just... *shudders* He scares me. And I am becoming more and more convinced that he's Morgana's nephew and Morgause's son. I have no idea why this is my theory, but there you go. But if that's the case, then it totally negates the whole thing in the legends about him having royal blood and wanting claim to the throne, so... maybe not. Unless Morgause is Uther's illegitimate child. Why is Merlin backstory so damn confusing and/or mysterious? Aren't we supposed to know these things from the legends? Psh.

Anyway, I think I enjoyed this episode, but maybe not? CONFLICTING FEELINGS, THEY PLAGUE ME.

Uh... I think someone hacked into my email and sent my entire contact list spam. If you got some freakishly random email from me tonight, I APOLOGIZE. But it wasn't me. So don't click on the link.

In other random news, I watched The Tale of Desperaux tonight after Glee, because it was on and I thought "Meh, why not?" and the king reminded me of Uther. I think I will forever relate every single king back to Uther now, but seriously, when this dude lost his wife, he blamed the entire race of rats, and soup! Does this not sound like a fairy tale version of Uther? And then he spent the rest of the movie silently crying out his manpain and brooding while playing his little guitar thingy. Come on, Uther all the way. Desperaux = Merlin, purely because of the ears.

Glee was highly entertaining tonight. HALF DEAF GUY, OMG, I LOVE THAT DUDE. Finn/Rachel is growing on me, but I am still stupidly in love with Quinn/Finn, which I know is wrong in every way. But I'm also fond of Kurt/Finn, so clearly I ship Finn with too many people (but it is terribly obvious that the show's endgame OTP there is Rachel/Finn, and I think the obviousness is what's keeping me from jumping on that train, but tonight's episode did a good job of making me believe that they're right for each other). Kurt was quite catty in this ep, but I do understand where he's coming from (I just kind of hate it when people pick on Rachel when she's not even doing anything to deserve it). On the other hand, these kids are terribly honest and blunt with each other, and they seem to accept observations about themselves rather well. Puck... is a douche. I will never figure that dude out. Sue is still epic. The "Imagine" performance made me tear up. Loved loved LOVED all the little Will/Rachel moments in this ep. They are so the parents of the Glee club. I think this explains why I ship them. They feel more like partners than teacher/student, especially whenever Rachel knows exactly what he's thinking (and tries to reassure him, or else politely change his mind).

Also, HAPPY THANKSGIVING. Turkey! This will be my niece's very first Thanksgiving! She will probably end up sleeping through it like my nephew did.

My thoughts on The Big Bang Theory:

Howard is a sexy beast. &hearts And Raj is delicious caramel. The helium joke was lame.

My thoughts on How I Met Your Mother:

Lily/Marshall! &hearts &hearts &hearts Apparently all I need are Lily/Marshall-centric episodes in order for me to enjoy the show. Also, Slapsgiving will never not be awesome.

In other news, a spoiler thread for the Merlin finale on [livejournal.com profile] merlin_tv has many people all up in arms about the lack of Morgana and Gwen screentime and they are saying such hogwash as "Uther and Gaius have replaced them. HOW DARE THEY? No one wants to see them!" and, I can't help it, I want to slap these people. Hard. As much as I miss the girls, they do get a fair amount of episodes dedicated to them, whereas it's a pretty rare thing to get an Uther or Gaius centric episode (this season was generous enough to give us two Uther eps, but only because it was a two-parter, and even in an Uther-centric episode, either Merlin or Arthur still gets the bulk of the story). I'd say that Uther/Gaius and Morgana/Gwen get about an even amount of screentime, and really, Gwen's been in a good amount of the show this season (way more than she got last season). Morgana has been getting shafted compared to last season, but it's not because of Uther or Gaius, it's because the show has been focusing more on Arthur and his backstory and his future with Gwen, and apparently the writers feel the need to leave Morgana out of this. And then this last episode was all about Merlin, Uther was barely in the ep, so don't go blaming him, damn it! Furthermore, for all we know, the writers may intentionally be isolating Morgana from the rest of the core four because they want to illustrate that she feels like she no longer belongs in that world. Aside from all of that, I am willing to bet that Anthony Head and Richard Wilson get the biggest paychecks, and yet they are given the least amount of things to do, so perhaps season 2 just wanted to even out the supporting cast a little more. Morgana and Gwen still get the meatier parts of the story, even if it feels like they are conveniently absent lately (but, again, Uther and Gaius almost always have those throwaway scenes in about 70% of the episodes, so, no, they are not taking screentime away from the girls). The main difference in this season from the last one is that the core 4 no longer do things together, hence the feeling of Gwen and Morgana being shafted. But anyway, DO NOT TALK SMACK ABOUT MY UTHER, YOU... YOU... JERKS! *hmph* Christ on a cracker, I am thankful and joyous when the show blesses me with two tiny Uther scenes. I don't even know what I'll do once he's killed off. Probably weep into my pillows and refuse to watch the show ever again.

Okay, clearly I am ridiculously shallow when it comes to this show, because while everyone else is complaining about plotholes and poorly written romances, I am just going ASDKJKJDSHGDFALDJFH PRETTY!!! Colin was so freaking amazing in this episode (I will not lie though, I laughed during the bit where he had a single tear roll down his cheek. Oh, the cheesy goodness, I love it). AND THE MERLIN/ARTHUR, HOLY CRAP, SO BEAUTIFUL.

Reasons why I loved this episode:

1. UTHER'S HAIR. )

2. UTHER'S NECK. )

3. THE BOYS! They are so in love. Even if you just call it brotherly love, that is good enough for me. )

I did miss seeing Morgana though. WHAT UP, SHOW? Next week's ep looks so ridiculously wonderful. GWEN JEALOUSY, HELL YES. Cannot wait.

Okay, that episode was wicked awesome, but it left me terribly confused and a little angry on Uther's behalf. They kind of butchered him by disregarding EVERYTHING that we've learned about his inner turmoil prior to this episode.

Ahahahaha, somehow even my thinky thoughts devolve into convoluted reasons for why Uther and Morgana are epic.
